  1. Yeah that was the last time I looked god AMD never catches a break from this
  2. True ugh even Vega 64 cards are drained jeeze it was looking like we would be getting close to msrp last time I looked
  3. It's really hard to say I always had a soft spot for the fury cards but the 4gb of ram on a card that is built for 1440p makes it hard to recommend one. I'd say start saving up for a vega 56 but, if you find a solid deal on a fury pull the trigger.
  4. The main issue is this you're a game developer and made a game that you're now optimizing for the pc market. Do you A) make it so all single gpus work well and get the game out as soon as possible or B) finish optimizing for single cards and then spend another few months on the small percentage of people with multi gpu riggs. Most companies are going to pick A
  5. x5650 is by far the best 6 cores 12 threads easily overclockable to hit single core perf just below a 3770 and cpu and motherboard bundled will cost around low $200 range sometimes with ram included.
  6. It could be something to do with a bad bios perhaps the guy flashed a diff bios on it. I know when I had my gtx 1080 I flashed it to unlock the voltage limits and that disabled the hdmi port. I'd try taking a look and seeing if the bios says asus or another company. If not just get an adapter or use another port
  7. Yeah but with the stupid prices of low/mid range gpus and ddr4 buying new is so hard to recommend Love STL mostly because we have a microcenter for those impulse buys
  8. Honestly give your local craigslist a shot you can easily get a solid 6700k/6600k and 1060-1080 build for that much used in most areas you don't get to build it yourself though
  9. Or have a custom loop with a pump located lower on the case
  10. If im not mistaken it's just if you also have a gpu with an aio
  11. Use a benchmark like heaven while overclocking and then once you hit the freq wall test the gpu on other tests like firestrike to make sure if its stable if not tune back a little all in all it's time consuming but once you get dialed in you don't have to touch it again for a long time.
  12. Overclocking is idiotproof at this point nvidia locks the voltages so you can't fry your gpu and anyone should know if their gpu is hitting stupidly high temperatures gaming to turn back the voltage. Just take it slow first max out temp and power limit then slowly increase the core and mem speeds starting at 50 each and going up until unstable then tune back a bit until everythings stable and your done
  13. Yeah that'll work the r5 series is the better deal honestly but, perhaps they'll have a sale on the older r7 variants when the refresh releases. While you wait I'd try lightly overclocking your current cpu if you have the motherboard to do it as it'll help a bit and there's a million guides on how to do it.
  14. Just overclock the cpu or get a ryzen 5 or 7 you won't notice those issues really once you bump up your core counts. For example with Ryzen 5 you'll be 3xthe amount of threads and with ryzen 7 you'll be doubling core count and 4x thread counts

  16. In summary Gigabyte and some MSI boards will usually give you better bang for your buck at the mid tier prices but, Asus will always be the best on the high end boards and if you want to easily get in to overclocking they're certainly a great choice.
  17. 99.9% of motherboard choices are based on looks and bios interface (m.2 and other ports are a part but at this point they usually share similar layouts) Asus boards tend to have the best bios interface and overclocking tools hands down. The only issue is when you buy Asus you pay a premium so it depends mostly on if you want to pay the extra buck or not. (ps the cheaper Asus boards tend to be a bit of ripoff since other boards will come with more ports and functionality)
  18. Not hating on Nvidia just one of those sad things that got buried the second it was bought.
  19. PhysX is one of those sad technologies that could have become something interesting but, due to nvidia buying it out and it becoming exclusive no one really wants to bother developing for it Especially since consoles can't even run it (amd gpus) so what's the point.
  20. I mean you could do worse on buying new. But, buying a good used pc or building your own will payoff a lot more in the long run since the parts in that system are far from the best picks you could get for that budget. If I were you either get a better gaming pc by buying used (you could easily get a system with a 7700k and 1080/1080ti for that price) or build your own pc with a ryzen 5 and 1070.
  21. I mean honestly if you look around you could easily get a pc around that spec or cheaper for below $800 US from someone local. Shops always mark up the prices because they can afford to sit on it. Most people selling locally want to get rid of it quickly to pay bills so are willing to part with it for very little.
  22. The tubes are meant to flex and bend so as long as they don't kink you're fine. Aios that break tend to be on the line of defects or running the loop above spec heats causing the water to evaporate and kill the pump. Otherwise it's pretty rare to break a aio.
  23. When you buy complete pcs used you can get them pretty cheap since a lot people get in to pc gaming then change their minds later on due to missing console friends (which I'll admit going from tons of xbox friends and having to start over does suck) or people loose jobs need to pay rent etc and will sell their gaming pc cheap. So if you want a good rule of thumb take all the main parts in the pc (cpu ram motherboard case gpu cooler psu) add them together take 40-50% off and that's what you usually can get them bundled for with some haggling. In short 1100 US would even be a rip off for that pc
  24. Yeah that'll be fine you can add the second fan if you plan on overclocking a little bit otherwise I wouldn't worry about it since more fans just mean more noise even when high quality they add up. If you plan on running stock you won't gain very much from a second fan really on temps.
