  1. Devices of choice :

    Mi 11x pro (8/128) sd 888, price : 65k npr

    Poco F3(8/256) sd 870, price : 52k npr(436 usd)

Current Device : Redmi note 8(rooted)

    Region: Nepal

Budget: 65k npr( around 550 usd)

Please note that i will root the device as soon as i buy it, also don't suggest Samsung devices as they are more expensive for similar performance level as those two.

Oneplus 9rt was another contender but it is not yet released in my area plus it doesn't have oxygen os now.

Have you been able to use integrated graphics before?

Yes, i can even launch some games from the integrated graphics, i didn't have the problem of photo.exe opening via dedicated gpu before, but when the problem started, vlc also started running on dedicated graphics so when ever i watch any video the temps just rises up.

  3. Can anyone tell me why the microsoft photo is running on the dedicated gpu instead of integrated gpu?  Normally on idle the temps are around  48 to 52 degress but when the photo.exe uses the dedicated gpu, my system temps just rise up  to 62 degrees and the fan speeds up as well and when the terminate the app from task manager idle temps returns to normal, the app just starts up randomly. I've scanned my pc for any potential virus and it turned up empty. Does anyone have a solution for this or is facing similar things.

You keep referencing your Y9 but how much RAM/storage does it have?

The E9610 and SD660 are roughly in the same ballpark. Expect better battery life with the smaller lithography and oled screen. Both devices have expandable storage.

Any why are you switching phone so soon? The Y9 is not very old. Going to the RN7 or A50 is not a big leap.

i have specified the Ram/storage in the 1st sentence, as for why would i want other phone is that i originally wanted to buy n7 pro but it was not available when i bought the y9 so now  i am able to buy a newer one, A50 is also a viable option. Also i prefer a phone which has stock like ui or atleast rootable

  5. I am currently using Huawei Y9(2019) with 4gb/64gb config and now i am going for a new one. My options are Xiaomi Note 7 pro and Samsung A50, while the n7 pro is obviously cheaper and has better processor, the A50 has better screen and an extra camera. I am conflicted between these two devices as i can get n7 pro 6gb/128gb for the same price as the A50 with 4gb/64gb. I usually don't play graphics heavy games on my phone, so i would like to ask will those extra 2gb of ram make any difference to the user experience? Sometimes when i use chrome i end up opening 100+ tabs in it, until now i haven't had any lags with the Y9. As for storage i currently don't need to much as i still have 20gb remaining on my Y9 even with all the apps i need and tons of pictures & videos.

On the other hand, my sister bought a Samsung J2 (2016) without asking me first and when she was facing performance issues because samsung's UI is just too heavy for phone with 1.5GB of ram and a Exynos processor. I thought a AOSP ROM would fix this easily but what I found out that there are no custom roms available for this device. There was only one ROM which was just the stock ROM with less bloatware. I didn't flash it. I just rooted her phone and removed the bloatware apps.

tl;dr, the chances of you finding a ROM for this device is slimmer than a homeless person.

Thanks for all that info, btw my previous phone was also samsing j2(2016) J210F, and i had lineage os for it, i couldn't play many games due its limited ram but social apps ran smoothly, when installing Gapps i chose the aroma version where you could select the default apps you wanted. And if the phone was performing slowly i set the background process limit to No background process from the developer options.

i got the rom from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-lineageos-14-1-t3680656

Way too early bro. And please, stop posting these kind of threads. You can just google such things. Have you even heard about xda ?

of course i have searched for it in xda forums, can you tell me normally how long after the release of any phone will the custom roms start appearing, is it like 3-4 months ?

  8. I have 2 recommendations for you,

1st would definitely  be the Poco F1, its cheap and  pretty powerful in terms of processing power. It's the best bang for the buck phone currently on the market,

    it has:

processor: snapdragon 845(flagship phones from 2018 like samsung note 9 used this chip)

    storage : 64gb/128gb

    ram: 6gb

    battery:4000 mah

    price: around $300

also it has a notch and a headphone jack

And if you want something with lower price and performance , i would suggest you get Xiaomi Mi A2, it's one of the best budget phone out there currently, it has

processor: snapdragon 660(way inferior than sd845 but can run games at high easily, you can run PUBG mobile at 60fps)

    storage: 64gb

    ram: 4gb

    battery: 3000 mah

    price: around $200

also it doesn't have a notch and the headphone jack is missing as well.

in addition to that Mi A2 runs on Android one(stock android)

Both these phones are great, if you look for other alternatives you wont find similar performance close to these phones for similar price, they also get frequent and latest updates from google

if you can spend little extra i say go for the Poco F1

Perhaps he should go to safe mode and run DDU then boot up and install latest WHQL driver and let us know what happens.  Let us know

I have done that just now and i get really low fps with latest drivers and now i have gone back to the previous driver, i also have the helios 300 i5. The latest drivers are just buggy.

no, Nvidia is not slowing down cards with drivers. You likely have a conflict and need to use DDU to get clean drivers. Go download and run DDU and then re-install again.

I removed the drivers with DDU in safe mode and reinstalled the latest drivers again and got the same result as 1st time which is getting low fps so i am going to reinstalled the previous drivers. The latest drivers must be buggy, thanks for the help anyway.

  12. So i have a laptop with GTX 1060 and yesterday i got an update for drivers(417.22) and i installed it immediately and after that i installed Monster Hunter World. The game ran at 10fps with max settings, at 1st i thought the game was poorly optimized and changed the settings to low which gave me about 35 fps. I changed the settings to max again and checked the gpu useage and say it at was only 5% but at low settings it was about 30%.

Then today i tried to play Assassins creed odyssey and it also ran at 14 fps, before i used to get 35-50 fps on high preset. I then reinstalled the old driver(417.01) then Monster Hunter World runs at around 47 fps on max settings. So the question is, Is nvidia deliberately trying to slow down last gen gpus or the drivers were just buggy? Did anyone also have similar experiences?

  13. I think the new Gtx 1060 with GDDR5X should have been the Gtx 1060 ti and not the same card with same performance, it;s such a missed opportunity from Nvidia to match the new Radeon RX 590 with its performance being in between 1060 and 1070. It seems like the capabilities of GDDR5X  is wasted on the 1060. They could have just bumped the CUDA cores & core clock a bit. GTX 1060 ti would have made more sense in this case also laptops would get something new to put in newer mid range models until the RTX 2060's or 2050's hits the market.

  14. The specs for the upcoming Pixel 3 lite is kinda disappointing with the lack of SD card support and only 32 gb memory, while all the other specs looks great ,lack of SD card made it loose the wow factor for the budget phone market. Hope Google changes it before it hits the market.
