  1. @boggy77 I redid my calculations taking into the fact that i will be working less in the new year, and I can only really save around $700, brining my budget up to $2400. I put this together to take that into account: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wQc3wh CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 3.9 GHz 8-Core Processor ($339.00 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: be quiet! I did some research and the programs that i will be using wont be effected (except for render times) by the cpu drop until you get to massive projects.
  2. Dropped the mobo down to the elite, added ram, doubled ssd space: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Hwh4p8 CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor ($493.84 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: be quiet! 4. I built my first computer in late august of this year, but made some decisions that I now regret, so when a friend offered to buy my current build for $1700 USD, I decided to go for it. My current build is: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/y6GKq3 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($309.99 @ Walmart) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML360R RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($129.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard ($184.99 @ Best Buy) Memory: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory ($89.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($169.96 @ Amazon) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB WINDFORCE OC 3X Video Card ($598.82 @ Amazon) Case: Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case ($98.99 @ Walmart) Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($129.99 @ Amazon) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit ($99.99 @ Amazon) Total: $1812.71 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-12-22 11:31 EST-0500 I paid a bit more for the system when I bought it (around $1850), but both me and some friends have had many issues with Asus products (I had to deal with an issue of my mobo dropping wifi periodically, and a friend has an Asus laptop that has had many issues with basically everything about it) so i don't feel comfortable purchasing their products, also, I realize that I don't need a liquid cooler. I am now looking at a new build for around $2400 with the goal of 1440p 165hz gaming and streaming (Destiny 2, RDR2, R6S, etc.), and 3d modeling and animation. My current plan is this: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qmvpK4 CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 3.5 GHz 16-Core Processor ($749.00 @ Best Buy) CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($88.99 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard ($196.99 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory ($104.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Intel 660p Series 1.02 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($94.99 @ Adorama) Storage: Seagate FireCuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($99.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: MSI GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8 GB GAMING X TRIO Video Card ($749.99 @ Amazon) Case: be quiet! Would it be beneficial to drop the cpu down and get a 2080 ti? Or should I see if my friend can wait a bit longer, and save enough to get a 2080ti while keeping the cpu? I really appreciate any help, thank you!
  5. Thanks for the help, I used your feedback and now the parts list is this: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QTLH6s CPU: AMD - Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor ($499.00 @ B&H) Motherboard: Gigabyte - X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard ($219.99 @ Newegg) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($69.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($129.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Inland - Premium 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($102.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB AORUS Video Card ($570.00) Case: NZXT - H200i Mini ITX Tower Case ($142.99 @ B&H) Power Supply: Corsair - RMx (2018) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($89.89 @ OutletPC) Case Fan: NZXT - AER RGB 2 52.44 CFM 120 mm Fan ($24.98 @ Amazon) Case Fan: NZXT - AER RGB 2 52.44 CFM 120 mm Fan ($24.98 @ Amazon) Custom: Oculus Rift S ($400.00) Total: $2274.80
  6. Thanks, I took out the aio. Is it important for me to get a couple of fans for the front of the case?
  7. How good is the stock cooler? I've generally heard that most stock coolers are pretty bad.
  8. I have posted a few posts like this before, but, for real, I actually will be building my first PC in a few weeks. My budget is about $1700 for the PC, but I really want a rift s, which I included in the parts list. I currently only have a 1080p/144hz monitor, but I'm planning on getting a 1440p/144hz around black Friday. Mostly will be used for gaming/streaming, but also light content creation and 3d modeling (Premier Pro and Autodesk Maya respectively). Currently I have this parts list: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TtJRZR CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($329.00 @ B&H) CPU Cooler: NZXT - Kraken X52 Rev 2 73.11 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($125.26 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Gigabyte - X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard ($219.99 @ Newegg) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($69.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($137.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Inland - Premium 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($102.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB AORUS Video Card ($570.00) Case: NZXT - H200i Mini ITX Tower Case ($142.99 @ B&H) Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($89.89 @ OutletPC) Custom: Oculus Rift S ($400.00) Total: $2188.10 I don't have much space on my desk, which is why I'm going for an itx config. I'd really appreciate any feedback, thanks.
  9. Thanks, I switched to a dark rock pro 4 for the cooler, the MSI MPG Z390 GAMING EDGE mobo, and a supernova g3 750w psu.
  10. I was thinking about buying this pc at the end of the summer: CPU: Intel - Core i5-9600K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor ($259.99 @ B&H) CPU Cooler: Corsair - H60 (2018) 57.2 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($69.89 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Asus - ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO (WI-FI) ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($275.98 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($139.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital - Blue 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($124.87 @ OutletPC) Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($44.89 @ OutletPC) Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce RTX 2080 8 GB AORUS XTREME WATERFORCE Video Card ($899.99 @ Amazon) Case: Lian-Li - PC-O11 Dynamic (Black) ATX Full Tower Case ($133.81 @ Newegg) Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($119.89 @ OutletPC) Other: Vive Headset and Wireless ($800.00) Total: $2869.30 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-01-23 14:12 EST-0500 I'll have about $3000 USD, and was wondering if there was any changes to be made? I only have a 1080p/144hz but I am planning on upgrading that down the line. Mostly will be used for gaming and recording game play, and light 3d modeling and animation in maya. Also, will the graphics card fit in the case? Any help is appreciated!
  11. Thank you, this looks like what I want!
  12. How much slower would it be? Would it still be able to support 144hz?
  13. I was looking at an AMD system, partly because it's cheaper (generally) would there be any draw backs by going with a ryzen 7?
