  1. Newegg is having a black Friday sale (starting the 20th I think) on a Gigabyte and Asus 1080 for both about $500. Id go with that since 1070ti's are trending at about 470-500 as is and will not be on sale. The bonus is both come with Destiny 2 if you were looking to purchase it and the Asus also comes with Assassins Creed Origins. https://bestblackfriday.com/ads/newegg-black-friday/page-5#ad_view
  2. Personally Id go with the EVGA FTW. I think it looks better, has RGB if you're into it and if not you don't have to use it, and I've found EVGA to be a great brand for graphics card when it comes to cooling and just in general. Its also cheaper so that's what'd id go with.
  3. Hey all, was thinking about vertically mounting my GPU in my case but I wasn't sure if it would affect the thermals at all and haven't been able to find very many sources showing results. Anyone with a vertically mounted 1080 or something in that range have an issue with thermals? Thanks!
  4. So currently I have 29 inch LG ultrawide 2560x1080 75hz IPS LG monitor that I really like but am thinking about upgrading to 1440. I really like the Ultrawide experience I currently have, but 34 inches sounds like it might be a little too much screen for the GPU to handle for a good refresh rate I'm also thinking about getting (thinking vega 64, 1070ti, or 1080). So I was wondering what would be better, the 34 inch ultrawide or the 27inch with a higher refresh rate (currently looking at the pixio px347c prime vs the new pixio px277 both are on sale on newegg). The main purpose of my PC is gaming with some light CAD for schoolwork. Ive attached the link to the two monitors. Thanks for the input! https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=pixio&ignorear=0&N=-1&isNodeId=1
  5. Thank you for the input, appreciate it
  6. I recently built my first PC and to save money I used the stock Wraith cooler included with the Ryzen 1600 with an EVGA GTX 1060 SSC with a few case fans. However, I have no idea what is considered too hot and I was wondering if someone could help me out. After playing Shadow of Mordor for about an hour my CPU temp was 50 C according to AMD's Ryzen Master software and My GPU was about 58-60 C according to Open Hardware monitor. Are these acceptable temps or should I upgrade to a better cooler/more case fans? And if I don't need to upgrade will the cooling be good enough for overclocking in the future?
  7. Just built my first PC and am super excited about it. Thankfully I barely got a 1060 before they went out of stock everywhere. Total cost was about 900 all in including windows. Thankfully I saved some money by using the stock wraith cooler which seems to do well enough and my friend Cody gave me his old NZXT case. Gaming as well as work is amazing and buttery smooth on my LG 29inch ultrawide 5ms 75hz IPS 1080 monitor and the 1060 does great at staying between 60-75fps for all my games on very high-ultra settings. Learned a lot while building and thanks to everyone for being so helpful and insightful. Cant wait to build a better one down the road. Parts: Ryzen 5 1600 (using included wraith cooler) $210 EVGA 1060 SSC graphics Card ($280) Corsair 16gb 3000 RAM ($126) MSI B350 PC MATE Motherboard ($90) Corsair 550W 80+ Gold Power Supply ($50) WD Blue 1TB Hard Drive ($47) SanDisk 120gb SSD ($60)
