  1. hey guys, i have a question about using a m.2 ssd. In my build i have now, i have a 1tb seagate barracuda, and an Adata 128gb ssd. i wanted to add a m.2 to my system. My msi z170a sli motherboard has a m.2 slot on it, but can i do this if im using two other storage devices? i heard that sometimes when a m.2 is added some sata ports are disabled. anyone know anything about this?
  2. so just to be sure. if i go on newegg and buy another 8gb kit of corsair ddr4 3000 mhz like i got, it will work. im a bit nervous about doing this stuff because im new and i dont want to somehow destroy or damage the only pc i have
  3. the only reason im want a 27 inch monitor is because im an used to using a 32 inch televison. i dont know i could go smaller. the distance im from my television/monitor is about 2.5-3 feet.
  4. i have one more question to ask. dont know if i should post this here or make another thread. i have 8gb or corsair vengence 3000 mhz ram, i was thinking about going to 16gb of ram as an upgrade. do i need to remove the 8gb i have in my pc now and buy a new 16 gb kit, or can i get another 8gb of ram like i already have and insert it into the 2 open slots to make up 16gb?
  5. Quick question, what's your PSU?

      oh, that's a good unit.

yee it's even safe to run it at even higher speeds if it's not too high

i don't know much about ram overclocking tho

  6. i think i just solved my problem. I went into my bios, went into the advanced mode, and changed my ram from 2133 to just under 3000 ( i think its like around 2895 or 2900... its somewhere around there but not exactly on 3000). the over-voltage light is not on anymore so that is good. ( i guess lol ) without going back into the bios, is there a way to see what my ram is running at?
  7. seeing how im new to the world of building pc's, do you know how to do this on a msi z170 sli board? i have no idea how to do it. sorry if i seem like a noob. im just trying to learn
  8. hey guys, this is my second post on here. i have an I5-6600k, and a gtx 1060 3gb. currently, im using a 720p, 32 inch television as a monitor. im looking for a 27 inch monitor in 1080p, does anyone have any recommendations?
  9. i built a system this summer, i have a I5-6600k, msi z170a sli plus, 3000 mhz corsair vengeance ram, corsair 650 watt psu, gtx 1060 6gb gpu, seagate barracuda 4tb hdd, 500gb adata ssd, 3 corsair air pressure led purple fans, nzxt hue +, cooler master master box 5 case. My ram, which is 3000 mhz ram, which is set at 2133, when i turn on xmp to turn the ram from 2133 mhz, to 3000 mhz, my mobo shows a red led light that says its using too much power appears. do anyone know what could be the problem. i know my pus (650 watt psu) should run this because one of my friends has a pc with a i7-6700k and running sli with a 650 watt pus. do anyone have any answers?
  10. so if i use xmp and make my ram run at 3000 MHz, it will have no effect on my cpu? When i tried it before, in task manager, it said it was running at 3.6 ghz. it never said it before until i turned on xmp and boosted my ram speed from 2133 to 3000
  11. hello everyone. i just built my first pc. i have a msi z170a motherboard. Im running a locked intel I5-6600. Its not the 6600k. the ram i got is some ddr4 corsair vengeance lpx at 3000 MHz. My ram is running at 2122 MHz. My motherboard has a xmp setting which puts my ram speed at 3000. If i do this, will it somehow overclock my locked cpu. I tried it once and it said my cpu was running at 3.6 ghz. It is supposed to be locked at 3.3ghz. Is it safe to run my ram at 3000 MHz? Or will this damage my cpu?
