  1. It will still use the 144hz, the only thing that wont work is the freesync.
  2. Although they all seem to do the same thing, each company has developed them separately, so each has spent differing amounts of time and resources into sync. Also, AMD and Nvidia are the ones who develop, manufacture and sell the sync modules to display manufactures. so they get to decide the value of the chips. Nvidia is just more confident that they have the better sync, so they can sell it for more. Whether or not it is better, we keep paying for it because most people have Nvidia cards and there really isn't a good alternative.
  3. G-sync only works with Nvidia GPUs, Freesync only works with AMD GPUs. I don't recommend crossing them as you'd be paying extra for the sync module in the monitor that you wouldn't be able to use.
  4. After being inactive and occasionally lurking for a whole year, I'm finally deciding to become a more involved member around here.

  5. I would recommend watching the techquickie videos on resolution and retina/pixel density, it can explain it faster ad better than we can here: Resolution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqdPciq2yJs Retina/Pixel Density: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zl5cN8Z7LnM The issue is that you are sitting so close to the screen that you can see the individual pixels, and anti aliasing can only slightly help in this specific instance. the fix is to get a smaller monitor or a higher resolution TV
  6. I wouldn't say one is 'better'. It really depends on whether you want the higher refresh rate or the higher resolution. What do you plan on doing with it?
  7. It should, HDMI and DVI-D have similar specs, but VGA is a lot lower than the two. However, If you plan on getting a new monitor, I recommend using a HDMI or Displayport monitor and cable. I looked at Nvidia's online user manual PDF, and it had Dual-Link DVI.
  8. Did you use the same cable across all experiments? Did you try jiggling the connector on each end and see if it cuts out? if not, it might be the monitor. I doubt it's the card, because it can run the other monitor just fine.
  9. The 1080 should have a DVI-D output on it. Just go DVI-D to DVI-D without an adapter.
  10. I'm assuming you are using the same monitor as before, so it isn't that. My concern main is the adapter, afaik a DVI adapter would work better, but you might want a second opinion on that Does the monitor have a DVI input? that would probably be best to not have to use an adapter. the difference between DVI and HDMI in negligible, aside from HDMI carrying sound
  11. It might be a broken output/input on the monitor/card. Have you tried using another computer to output onto the same monitor or the using Fury to output onto a different HDMI display?
  12. DVI-D and DVI-I are interchangeable, as far as I know. The extra pins in DVI-I are for analog signals, such as CRT TVs. I don't think the issue is in the cable, but with software interacting between the card, control panel, and monitor.
  13. I use HDMI on my main monitor and DVI on the side ones personnally. I you want to run audio, put HDMI into the one with better sounding speakers, but if you run into issues for any reason, it isn't hard to just swap them
  14. I've had this problem with a few other apps, such as spotify. It might be a bordering issue with Windows that give these apps problems. I do agree that Discord should get rid of the popup loader, as it just enters another loading screen when the actual window opens.
  15. A really long time ago, I stole and mixed the names of two other people. Luckily, I haven't seen them since.
