  1. does it prioritize certain devices since my iPad has more consistent download speeds than my macbook?
  2. It's kind of alarming to see how my internet speed would fluctuate that much. Sometimes my macbook is so slow it can't even load a video at 240p.
  3. My Macbook pro 16" is showing completely different download speeds vs my iPad. The laptop is relatively new and the only programs I have installed are spotify and chrome. I ran my tests on https://www.speedtest.net/ with the same server on both devices. On my iPad, the download speed is 79.48 mbps vs 59.65 mbps on my macbook. Sometimes the download speed on my macbook pro has reached 2 mbps and fluctuates tremendously. Is there a specific reason for this?
  4. Lol yea your suspicion was right it was Spotify activating it for some reason. Currently it says that Spotify has the biggest energy impact out of all of them which is pretty interesting.
  5. Looks like my graphics card is active! I was so confused why my new MacBook Pro is consuming so much power. Thanks for the informative post I'm pretty new to macOS and I'm planning on using it for college cuz I've heard it's reliable. So far my battery has only gone through about 4 full cycles so I'm hoping to see some better battery performance.
  6. Yea I've been making sure to fully quit out of apps to test the battery life but still only about 6 hours of usage (only web surf, Netflix, YouTube, and Spotify for now) from a full charge until it completely shuts down. Not sure if there's something wrong with the battery itself or the system itself is consuming too much power. My status bar is completely empty as well so there definitely isn't anything else running.
  7. I am currently using Safari. I don't really have much in the background except maybe Spotify and my screen brightness is default so around 50%. Honestly I'd expect double the battery life I currently have but for some reason it's draining pretty quick.
  8. I just got the 16 inch MacBook Pro and so far I have noticed that the battery drains faster than the advertised duration. So far, my 100 watt hour battery lasts 5-6 hours on a full charge but Apple says that it should last up to 11 hours. I know that these advertised numbers vary based on the applications that I'm running but all I've done so far is web surf on safari and watch YouTube videos. Does anyone know if that's normal?
  9. Hello, I currently have a 1TB hard drive installed on my desktop as my sole storage device but I want to add an SSD as the boot drive. Is it as easy as plugging it in and install windows with a USB? Will I still keep all of my programs and applications on the hard drive and just use it as a secondary storage device? I'm not sure how I should do this and I'm worried that I might lose all of my data on my hard drive.
  10. Thank You! All I have to do is tell windows to boot off of the ssd when I go through the set up process.Thing is, would my license still work?
  11. ok so if i install windows on it then what would happen to the windows already existing on the HDD? In file explorer I can just drag and drop applications from the HDD to the SSD right?
  12. I'm currently thinking about getting this ssd for the price: https://www.amazon.com/ADATA-SU655-Internal-ASU655SS-120GT-C-Version/dp/B07DNLY1R2/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1537844423&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=ADATA+SU655+120GB+3D+NAND+2.5+inch&psc=1. Is it good enough? Also, I'm getting this for a pre-built dell desktop with only a 1TB HDD so what should I do to install it and make it a boot drive? Thank You
  13. Thank you so much man! Hope you got your phone. Have a safe trip and sleep well! This morning, I tried to use a wired Dell mouse instead and for now, the problem has subsided. The 2 different mice I used were wireless logitech mice so I guess it had something to do with it. They were all working fine before but for some reason every wireless mouse I've tried caused the stuttering. If the stuttering occurs again, I will submit another reply but for now, the wired mouse is working. Thank You to everyone who helped me with this issue. I really appreciate your help!
  14. OH! Linux? yea i know what it is...its late at night lol. I gotta do some of my assignments in school and i'll do it first thing in the morning tomorrow. (btw i really appreciate your help so far and your patience with me!)
