I would stay clear from that website, I've just had a good look and ran the software on a test bench. And I saw no difference expect from an increase in disk usage from trying to run this program. It also probably had some viruses on it too etc, I'll edit this post if I come across any virus that I believe came from it.

Which CPU is she using? I would still recommend putting your own Thermal Compound onto the CPU. Are the parts of the stock cooler installed and the right way around (E.G. does she have the heatsink installed etc etc)

PCI card over USB. Because from my own experience I only got 20-30Mbps with my USB 3.0 Adapter connected to a USB 3.0 port in a good spot, as soon as I replaced over to a PCI it jumped all the way up to 40-50Mbps and it's in a worse spot than my USB was. And the PCI I used was actually a £10 of Amazon!

I'd always use AVG, it's lite weight and (unless you set it not to) it'll run in the background all the time and keep monitoring. I've had times where I downloaded something that had a virus inside and AVG deleted it before I even finished the download. EDIT: Also the free version which I use is more than enough.
