  1. I was just looking this up and apparently my Ranger mobo has 2 x16 pcie slots however the second slot that it says is a x16 is actually a x8. I only care because I think my top slot died because when I have my 1080 in it I can't play a game for more than 10mins sometimes can't even launch the game without the system crashing. it isn''t a normal crash the displays go black and the gpu fans ramp up to full speed and I just have to press the power button to turn the system off. I have had the mobo for just about 2 years and the MSI 1080 for a year before that I had a 970 but this problem only started a few days ago. Back to what I started with though the crashing doesn't happen when the card is in the second PCIE slot so thats why I imagine the top one is dead. I reset my mobo bios and cleared cmos but it still is happening so I think my only option is to use the second slot or but a new mobo and might aswell get a 7th gen cpu since I havn't been able to with this mobo's socket. Here is a picture of why I think the second slot is a x8 one and not a x16. you can see on the board that it says x8 or does that x2 after that 8 mean it is infact 16 eventhough it doesnt have the full row of connectors like the top slot.
  2. I think I will put the radiator at the front since it is and AIO for my cpu it will allow that to be cooler and then I can have the air being exhausted out the top.I just saw a Bitwit video of him lowering his cpu temps by 10 degrees by having the radiator at the front rather than the top.
  3. Well my case is the fractel design arc midi r2 so it has good dust filters so not much dust gets in at the moment but what themctipers said about dead spots would my gpu fans disapate any air from tose spots since the case isn't the bigest so I imagin all the areas are covered.
  4. Can anyone help me with my air presure, I heard that it is best to have a possitive air presure but I dont know how I'm going to get it. Thats what I was going to do put I will have more exhaust fans than intake. I'm not sure if the radiator fans count as actually exhaust fans.
  5. One more question is this a good alcahol to buy? I'm going to need it to clean my cpu. https://www.amazon.co.uk/500ml-Isopropyl-Alcohol-pure-ISOPROPANOL/dp/B00AMZ10SE
  6. Ah thanks. So I just clean the old paste off my CPU and then put the water block ontop of it. thanks for the fast reply of to go buy the cooler.
  7. Hi I am looking to upgrade my cooler from a crappy Zalmon CNPS5X since it has a horrible coil wine when my CPIU is under load and am interested in the Fractel Design Celsius. My case is the Fractel Design arc midi R2 so I'm pretty sure the radiator will fit however I was wondering if I need to buy some thermal compound to put on my CPU or if the cooler has it pre applied. If I do need some paste can anyone reccomend me a good one to buy? and also I might aswell get some rubbing alcohol while I'm at it.
  8. I think it would be the psu but i have a similar problem my psu died and took my gpu with but i have a new one and am getting a gtx 680 tomorrow but i am scared in case when i put the 680 in to my mother board then it migh go pop even though i have a new psu but the pcie port might be broken somehow and ii cant get a spare gpu to test it out.Can someone tell me if a motherboard can break a graphics card?
