  1. Yes, I mentioned "in my region" specifically. I'm sure it's available elsewhere, somewhere. Not sure about the entire US stock.
  2. Definitely. Currently, there are 0 4080's in stock on BestBuy, Newegg and B&H in my region (US, WA). It was gone in less than an hour and I've only seen 2 restocks which were sold very quickly.
  3. Seems like people are doing just that.
  4. To everyone who was wondering about why the RTX 4080 was pretty much sold very quickly, this is likely because their stock was extremely low to begin with, at least according to Moore's Law Is Dead sources.
  5. This has been said like 20 times, are people unaware you can cancel and return products? Or even "better" - act as a scalper and sell it for a profit.
  6. "Need" is a strong word. She wants to be able to run games with RT @ 4K, something the 3080 would struggle to do. Not to say that the 4080 is superb at doing that, but it's definitely better than the 17 FPS the 3080 offers. We've been compromising our entire life. Everyone who isn't rich has probably been experiencing thing similar to what I have. When you're young you don't have the money and you tell yourself that playing on medium settings is fine for now. When you're old then spending 1,200$ on a GPU is wasteful and you continue telling yourself the medium settings are fine. I don't NEED a GPU at all, but I'll be lying if I said I didn't want a 4080/4090 and just run my games without thinking much of it, while enjoying the beauty of the technological advancements such as Ray-Tracing, Unreal Engine 5 and VR games at max settings. Wish it was cheaper, but this is the current reality
  7. The cheapest one I've found is being sold for 779$ right now: https://www.newegg.com/msi-geforce-rtx-3080-rtx-3080-gaming-z-trio-10g-lhr/p/N82E16814137677
  8. I had already commented on second hand, saying that it is a present and I cannot buy one in this case.
  9. <redacted by staff> Second, are you talking about second-hand cards or brand new ones?
  10. According to the entire community - yes. Here's a 3-page long discussion, if you're still unsure
  11. To wrap up this post: I've decide to cancel one of the orders of the 4080 and wait for the 7900 XTX. If it disappoints, I'll just wait another damn year and see what'll happen to GPU prices. Sigh. I'll discuss this with the person I had bought the 2nd GPU for and try to convince them to give it up and wait for the 7900 XTX as well. Thank you very much to all of you who were actually useful and trying to help and educate me without being condescending with a bad temper. Greatly appreciate the assistance!
  12. Fair enough, good points. I may cancel one card (or both, I'll discuss this with the person I'm buying it for) and wait for the 7900 XTX. Hope it doesn't disappoint.
  13. Thanks for the laugh, goodbye now The used market isn't for everyone, especially when I'm buying it as a present. Then.. What does this teach us, exactly? That nVidia did not learn from its past mistakes or that it simply doesn't care about its customers? Because if people were angry at the 30xx series and they just go ahead and do it again (even worse this time?), then are we to expect prices to remains this high from this point onwards? I personally don't care as much, but as I've mentioned before, this card is a present to someone who does care so nVidia is my only choice here. Just trying to understand if the 4080 is currently the best bang for buck when comparing it to other nVidia cards. I personally will wait for the AMD 7900 XTX and see how they compare.
  14. I didn't think they were overpriced at the time, at least not at MSRP. However, in my defense, I wasn't in the US when the 30xx series was launched and I have no idea what was going on here at the time. Also - I never said it was OK. In fact, I strictly said it was unethical and a "douche" move by nVidia. All I said was it's a company set out to make money first and foremost, so a spike in price isn't that big of That's all I'm asking: what the hell do I buy instead? Nothing else seems to fit when I look at perfomance:cost ratio. A 3090? A 3090 Ti? Haven't found a good deal that actually makes the purchase worth-while, but then again as someone pointed out - I may simply suck at searching. 10 points to gryffindor. Not everyone has that luxury, as you've pointed out. MicroCenter isn't everywhere, unfortunately. Wish I had one nearby. Again, I assume you're talking MSRP here. MSRP means nothing to me at this point in time, does it? I can understand the overall anger towards nVidia on that one, but I can't find that 3080 card for MSRP, so it's basically a moot argument. I need a GPU now, not over the next years when AMD finally awakens and becomes an actual competitor and breaks nVIdia's monopoly. What are other good options? Not sure what are you referring to here, but all she wants is to play Cyberpunk with RT on the big screen (4K). I really don't think that's something an older GPU can handle very well, can it? At least not according to the review I'm seeing.
  15. Why are people comparing the 4080 to the 3080 MSRP and not current market price?
