  1. Hi there, You created a post about last year regarding your GPU Card upgrade to 580M and you asked for the thermal pads thickness. I re-read the thread and saw you did upgrade your GPU.

May I ask how thick was the thermal pads did you use? Did You use Fujipoly? and How was the results.

I know, the thread is a little old, I really do need your help, I'm a little scared for my GPU Temp.

    Thank You.

I'm not entirely sure how updated that post is, but my gpu got fried because of overheating. I purchased a used gpu to replace it and replaced the thermal pads with 0.5mm pads, but the best thing is to measure it the old fashion way when you take your laptop apart. They generally don't use anything bigger than 1.5mm and thermal pads are kind of squish and soft already so even if you get something slightly bigger you might get away with using it anyway. I don't remember what brand it was. It was some cheap generic stuff I bought from china for like 50 cents lol. The biggest improvement for thermals in my situation was changing the windows power options to balanced. By default my laptop had it set to performance and this basically makes everything run to the max even when it doesn't need to be running. That created a lot of unnecessary heat and eventually my gpu died as a result. I hope that helps.

I forgot to mention, this is also very important. My laptop came with a 560m and I thought I could upgrade to a 580m since I was replacing a dead gpu anyway. It didn't work out that well. I was able to get a 580m in there, but the heatsink was too small for it. It would work, but the gpu would thermal throttle a lot. I ended up get another 560m and selling the 580m.
