  1. Sorry let me clarify. I did a clean install of Lion and it was still running slow so I tried upgrading. Last I knew it was still trying to upgrade. I will be doing a full clean install of High Sierra later today and see how that does.
  2. I never said I cloned the drive, I said previously that it's a clean install on a brand new SSD.
  3. I've tried doing that as well still nothing. I got it from the apple support site, I had to dig for it. I realize it's 8 years old but the fact that I installed an SSD and when I boot into safe mode it runs like it's a brand new Macbook. So something is hitting the CPU hard and I can't figure out exactly what it is because it rarely lets me boot fully into the OS, and when it does nothing really loads because the CPU is being hit so hard for no reason at all.
  4. Right but it shouldn't be taking 24 hours and up. I'll try the clean install later when I get home and let you know. (I should note that the Macbook Pro only boots if I press and hold the power button until the light indicator flashes repeatedly after I let go it boots).
  5. Yeah I've had to do that about 10 times at the least now.... When I get home from work I'm going to create a High Sierra USB and install it that way, not even going to connect it to the internet to be safe. So I know it's pulling from the USB. I'll let ya know how that goes. (Unless I get home and the upgrade is already done lo)l
  6. All good, I think after this I'm sticking to repairing windows machines lol. I started an upgrade last night on it to the newest version of OS X and when I left this morning it was still going... I'm at a loss with this thing
  7. Really? Shouldn't it be pulling from a partition on the drive? I'm in it right now Going through the "First Aid" It's been at Checking catalog hierarchy for about 5-10 minutes now.
  8. Getting to the recovery is god awful slow too lmao (I use Windows) First time attempting fixing a Mac. The loading bar is and has been just past the apple logo for 15/20 Minutes. Like I said runs like a charm in safe mode, actually boots to safe mode.
  9. I thought about it but it runs fine in safe mode. Something is pegging the CPU it's too slow to let me see what it is. I'll try again. I can try doing that as well.
  10. I'm working on a mid 2010 Macbook Pro. I have replaced the HDD with an SSD and did a clean install of OSX Lion (Currently upgrading to OSX Mountain Lion Has been going since 9:30pm 1-28-2018 last I check it was at 11 minutes remaining)? What's killing me about this laptop, if I boot into safe mode it works like it's factory new. I've checked the Login Items and there is nothing there. Has anyone ran into this issue?
  11. Burn your PC? Connect your PC to your WiFi and open up task manager and see what is using the most and screenshot it.
  12. I'm not sure then man, hopefully someone comes by that has that board and can help more. Sorry
