  1. You might need to flash back to an older bios version. and then test the sticks in the board... if they work after rolling back the bios - then report the fault to the motherboard manufacturer on the issue - with a report on the Bios version and which sticks are causing the problem.
  2. you could try using robocopy to migrate the data across however i recommend that you look the commands for that up first to make sure you know what your doing with it... Robo copy can automate the entire migration and you can go out for a few hours and not worry...
  3. there is a free piece of software that will allow you to do this with ease, https://www.backup-utility.com/free-partition.html and yes the free version will migrate the OS - I used this software at work to migrate 14 PC's from HDD to SSD without a problem. Tips Clean out all temp files and run disk clean up - deleting any old installs etc... make sure you defrag the HDD after doing that THen run the software and let it do it's magic make sure both SSD and HDD are in and you can Identify them - then start the process - simple.. Alternatively - you can go with a clean build. which is recommended...
  4. ok so from that list seems like you haven't tried the baseball bat yet! Honestly with that particular issue I am just as flumoxed as you are! only thing i can recommend is trying a set of two different sticks and see if the problem happens again with those. it may be that one of the mobo memory slots may be damaged / faulty if the problem happens on a different pair too
  5. https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Transfer-Keyboard-DataLink-Migration/dp/B019DI3RV8 all i need to say...
  6. In which case there may have been a power surge that has caused some problems. hence the startup repair getting stuck, so the HDD/SSD might need to be looked at and checked for errors, as well, a power surge could have affected a multitude of things, so I would recommend ressetting the BIOS / Clear CMOS The PSU might have been hit hard by a power surge in which case, this might have to be replace - and I would advise testing another PSU in the system after clearing the BIOS. GIve those a shot first, then come back to us with the results.
  7. I just called them up and they resolved the issue for me over the phone...
  8. try adjusting the settings (i forget it's name!) on the TV then - you will probably find that you can scroll through the various modes, going from 16:9 to all the other settings under the sun.. personally I would look here whilst in game - because sometimes the "auto" default setting on a tv / monitor is useless... Ideally try setting it to 16:9 and then going from there looking at the other options available, (alternatively if 16:9 is default try auto instead!)
  9. @LinusTech Perhaps a new Techquickie installment on how people can switch their DNS settings to Google DNS if they are experiencing problems... especially so as people in malaysia have Steam blocked too and a DNS switch is all that is needed to get back onto the platform... Also perhaps a small section on how people can use the built in steps recorder to assist other users with their windows problems, when they are trying to document the information! https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/1474222595296320072/?ctp=3#c1474222595296409780
  10. Hi, The website itself works fine - I would advise that you try changing your DNS Settings in windows to googles DNS Servers. You can do this manually, as demonstrated in the steps attached. THe Zip file here contains the information that you require in windows steps recorder and will open in a browser window. DNS Steps.zip
  11. you shouldn't be at risk from static there - but my personal preference is to use clothing of some kind or a blanket - to fill as much of the gaps as possible (just don't use a furry blanket...) either or should be good - but you can always take an ESD Strap with you and when your at the other end - put it on attach it to a radiator and then touch the case to check and provided you are grounded any static should discharge into the radiator...
  12. perhaps then a gigabyte board or asrock (though i have had bad experiences with AM3+ Asrock boards) but have a look at the ratings and reviews - I believe that ASUS has released an AM4 Equivilent to the sabertooth...
  13. No - you will need an adapter for then - Check EKWB they have a viable solution for that now!
  14. I have at home two AMD AM3+ 8320 CPU's running on 2 sabertooth R2.0 Motherboards and though they are the same chip - on one I can get 4.6 Overclock on all 8 cores stable but on the other I can only get 4.4 Overclock on all 8 cores, despite them all having the same specs - RAM - Motherboard - PSU etc... It literally is the luck of the draw somtimes with the silicon in the CPU ALternatively - re-install windows a fresh clean build and run the tests several times to try and improve the results when there are no othger services other than the basic services for windows running
  15. to be honest it is a question of features - and what do you need out of it - MSI or ASUS - both have a fairly good rep - but i find that ASUS BIOS is a lot nicer to use. ultimately though it is entirely your choice based on the features the motherboards are offering! what do you need from a motherboard - someone here might have a good suggestion that you haven't considered.
  16. could be bad silicon - or the other chips have been overclocked.
  17. when you run windows Backup you will be presented with a load of options - simple enough walkthrough - one of the options will be where do you want to store the backup - just make sure that you are directing the backup save to an external HDD.
  18. foam works brilliantly, but generally anything that can lock the parts into place or pad out the PC insides properly, - small blankets, bubblewrap, foam, newspaper, etc... Disconnecting parts! just make sure that they are not rattling around in the case during the flight is a must though
  19. redirect / setup windows Backup to the External HDD -
  20. The best free backup software you can get comes with windows Just redirect it to an external HDD - and backup on schedule t3o that - with windows... Sorted!
  21. personally I have never had any problems with my 750w EVGA PSU
  22. as above reset cmos - either it will be a jumper on the Mobo or there will be a reset button
