  1. In short; I have an R9 280, and it regularly heats up to 85c under load playing games like BeamNG, Warframe, Risk of Rain at high settings even though I have my side panel open. I know it's an R9 series GPU, but I'm not sure whether to worry or not. I'm also wondering if it will make a difference if I got a bigger case, since I'm getting one anyway.
  2. Realistically I'd want something with extra hard drive bays as well as 3 for my current drives, probably something under £50/$50, front I/O isn't really something I'd worry about since currently all I'm using is the array of rear I/O that my motherboard has, and I'm not too bothered if it's acryllic or tempered glass. I remember using the Anterc Nine Hundred back in 2012 and loved how spacey and how much airflow it had even if it was horrible to build in.
  3. Recently upgraded my PC and have realised that my current case is uncomfortably small for my hardware. I'm currently using a CiT Seven case with an R9 280, 2 3.5 inch hard drives and a 2.5 inch hard drive, and because it's a micro ATX case it doesn't have the space for 3 hard drives, so I have to fit one of the drives tightly underneath and against one of the GPU fans causing it to become a room heater, and the cable management is very slim even with a modular PSU, so I had to hold up the end of the GPU with a bit of blu tac to stop it sagging in to the drive too much. So I was wondering if anyone here could recommend any decent low cost and effective ATX or bigger cases?
  4. The wraith stealth cooler should be alright as long as you have decent airflow within your case, but if you want to be more secure about it there are loads of good and low cost options for ryzen cooling such as the pure rock slim or the arctic freezer 7x
  5. Does Ryzen support windows 7? I haven't managed to upgrade to 10 at the moment since it blue screens on the update screen
  6. Does ryzdn support windows 7? Because nkw that you mention that it might be the case
  7. upgraded my PC to a Ryzen 5 2600 and a Gigabyte A320m-s2h motherboard. I start it up and it posts, then when I try to boot in to windows, the screen where it says "Starting Windows" freezes and restarts to system repair, and when I press the system repair option my mouse and keyboard are both disabled, even though I have them plugged in to the two rear usb2 ports. I can boot in to the BIOS and it detects everything properly and all the peripherals work, but when I save and exit it does the same thing. I do have a note though where when my CPU arrived it had 4 bent pins which I corrected using a microscope
  8. Budget (including currency): £100-ish Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Light/medium games such as Minecraft, Risk of rain 2, For the king, Apex (Maybe?) applications like FL Studio, Ableton, Cakewalk, Cubase etc... Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Recently upgraded to an R9 280 up from an R7 250 for 1080p. Currently on an i5 2400 and an old dying motherboard, and thinking of going AM4 1st gen ryzen 3 since I already have an FX 8350 stock cooler on hand. Not sure weather to go for a 1200 or a 1300x. I might be OCing with the chip as well
  9. Recently I have decided that I need an upgrade. I'm currently running an i5 2400 with an OEM 1155 board. My CPU is no longer powerful enough for what I need to do with my PC as what I'm doing requires a high core count, and recently I've had this problem where the CPU fan just decides to stop spinning and it lets my CPU heat up to 100C while I'm putting it under load. I'm not able to configure the fan curve in the bios, as the bios for this motherboard is very simple because I slowly ripped out every part of a prebuilt Lenovo system while upgrading. SO i've been thinking of having 2 possible upgrade paths, and since I already have an AM3+ cooler on hand I thought to either go for an FX chip like the FX-8320 and an AM3+ motherboard since FX CPUs are relatively cheap and have high core counts, or go for a second hand 1st gen ryzen with AM4 board. I don't want to spend more than £100 on this upgraden at most, which is why I want to know if my AM3+ cooler can fit. It's the stock CPU cooler for the FX-8350 chip, and I don't want to have to spend extra on a new bracket for my current cooler, or to buy a new cooler outright.
  10. My GPU temps are fine as far as I can tell, it only peaks at about 60 degrees. Would it be worth taking it out and giving it a bit of a dust? Also, I am using my brother's old power supply from back in 2010 (I think?), it's a 750W CiT Black edition PSU, but it's been running fine as far as I can tell? My GPU doesn't use any power connectors as it's a 65W card. I should be getting a new Corsair VS 450 soon though, not sure if that might help at all?
  11. Hello. I've recently been getting this problem very frequently; I've been getting this problem where my display drivers crash during a gaming session, and the game window becomes invisible and I'm unable to tab back in to it. The only way to fix it is to re-open the game. I have also had problems with some software as well such as FL Studio where the 3rd party plug in software UI freeze up (the only way I can describe it is the effect you get when you win Solitaire on Windows XP). I have fresh installed the drivers fro my GPU several times now using the proper AMD uninstall software, and it still happens, however, all the graphics work completely fine in safe mode. My current PC history goes as follows; CPU: AMD Athlon x2 215 -> AMD Phenom II X4 945 -> Intel i3 2120 -> Intel i5 2400 GPU: Integrated Radeon 3000 -> Raden R5 230 -> Radeon R7 250 OS: Windows 7 (current) The last thing I remember doing before it happened was experimenting if I could use my integrated graphics output from my motherboard to power a 3rd monitor as I didn't have the correct connector on my GPU for a 3rd one. It worked, but then some software UI started glitching out, as I stated previously. Pls help, I've had this issue for the past two months now and I realised how unhelpful reddit can be.
  12. I currently need a GPU upgrade as my current one is an R7 250 2GB and is lacking performance, I recently upgraded my CPU to an i5 2400, And i'd like suggestions for a good upgrade and combo for my CPU, I have no power supply limits and no case limits as I have lots of headroom on those fronts. My budget is up to about £90 or $110, I have mainly been looking over the used market and on sites like Cex or eBay but anything new within that price range I would go for too.
  13. Currently, you can run many games on 8gb of RAM today, but for example on AAA games at max, you might run into problems with 8 gigs, so technically, games like tomb raider, GTA V, and other AAAs will require over 8gb today. Some software applications however like 3D animation and rendering will definately need more RAM
  14. Do you have any hard drives in your system?, I had the same problem but re - mounting my hard drives seemed to solve it
  15. I currently have an i3 2120 and an R7 250 in whch the GPU is showing it's age and I am thinking of buying an R9 270x but will it bottleneck my i3?
  16. I have ran into some problems with my PC as the ram seems to max out to 7.84gb and it is very slow. It happened when I was just finishing off a composition and my PC went into sleep mode. I woke it up with a mouseclick and logged in. The screen was black with just the start menu icon in the corner. As the start menuwas invisible I turned it off via the power button and booted through start Windows normally. It booted up and the screen was black. I waited a hit and got a desktop but 5 minutes later it became very slow. I looked at the task manager and saw the ram was maxed. I booted into safe mode and did a malwarebytes scan. It found 20 threats and still did not solve the problem. All I have is my phone and my terrible laptop to seek refuge. O even 're inserted the ram which did not work. I have 8gb of corsair valueselect 1333 in 1 stick and I use Windows 7 professional. I tried msconfig max ram fix which did not work. Pls help
  17. I am thinking of currently upgrading my GPU to something more beefier. Right now I have an AMD R7 250 from XFX which is serving me well, but I have ran into a few games that aren't running up to scratch. I have been circling round the R9 270 which sells for quite cheap and is way better than my current card, but just in case I am buying into something I am not wanting, I would just like reassurance or suggestions. My price point is about £80 or $110 and my CPU is an i3 2120. Don't worry about power requirements or space issues as I have a 750 watt PSU and a large case. I have 2 monitors, one I am planning to game at 1080p and I have a monitor that supports freesync and one that is 900p which has no freesync support.
  18. I recently cloned my disk to put into a new laptop which is the easynote tx86 and the resolution does not go higher than 1024x768 when the actual resolution is 1366x768. I tried downloading the Intel drivers and the Nvidia 300m and 400m drivers and the Nvidia drivers said there was no compatible hardware. Pls help
  19. If you are on a budget then go with something from Turtle Beach, like maybe the 50p or recon 150, but if you have money to burn, then I suggest the Void pro from Corsair
  20. It has actually survived since 2009 from my brother's old PC and all I have done is just replace the fan for an LED one
  21. The S6 Edge Pllus says it's water resistant, does this mean, for example it can survive in a warm shower or heavy rain? When I looked this up all I could find was general water tests. pls help
  22. GPU: AMD R7 250 from XFX CPU: Intel Core i3 2120 Cooler: Arctic Freezer i11 Motherboard: Lenovo Ver 4.2 PSU: CiT 750W Black edition RAM: 8GB Corsair Valueselect DDR3 1333 MHz Case: Lenovo ThinkCentre Edge 71 OS Disk: WD Caviar Blue 500GB Disk 2: WD Blue 1TB OS Ver: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit I used MSI Afterburner
  23. AI recently started to overclock my gpu by about 50 MHz from 925MHz and found that my performance actually got worse by 50FPS. My motherboard is a Lenovo bet 4.2 motherboard and my gpu is an XFX R7 250A 2N. The temperature never went above 47°C.
  24. I have been with my Mordaunt-Short Avant 906 speakers for 2 years now, but they are starting to disintegrate, as the cones have bumps and holes in them (you might not be able to see it in the photo) and one of them went through a make-shift tweeter replacement that came from a krk rokit 5. I am probably going to sell them as used. Any new suggestions for a pair of floor standers or bookshelf speakers? (I built myself a pair of speaker stands just in case I come to a bookshelf speaker). My room is quite small with a very tall ceiling of 10ft and I compose electronic house music in FL Studio. I am also getting a 40W 2.1 amp very soon and have also built a sub woofer that I want to use.
  25. You could get an AOC U2879Vf for £300 at currys or an LG 29UM68 for £260. Ultra wide or dual monitors is really just a personal preference and setup size, you could also look at different videos comparing monitors.
