  1. I need some advice guys. I'm doing a silent build - I'm looking for a super quiet PSU. I'm considering either the Corsair RMx1000w or the Seasonic Prime Gold 1000w. Going overkill on the wattage so the fan hopefully doesn't turn on. Reviews that I've read seem to imply that the Corsair fan stay off for longer. Should I go for it over the Seasonic?
  2. Seeing as the 1700X was going for $120 - $150 on BF / CM, I'm sure new folk are interested in OC'ing their chips. This is still one of the highest results when searching for pState OC. Here are the images for the OP that are currently broken: https://imgur.com/a/cBgOo https://imgur.com/a/9LLNp https://imgur.com/a/O3GKz https://imgur.com/a/loJoZ https://imgur.com/a/PvXtr https://imgur.com/a/MlMtq https://imgur.com/a/PFpCI https://imgur.com/a/gx6Gp https://imgur.com/a/uOZfp
  3. I see that you like to live dangerously As for the original post, I think the whole static thing gets played up a lot to make sure that new adopters don't damage anything. The risk is real of course, but if you use common sense, you should be fine. Kind of ironic now, but I too, have built PC's on a carpet (not my choice), and watched others build on a carpet. Nothing bad has happened yet so... I never get shocks from doors and things, so that may be a reason why.
  4. Thanks for the replies! Unfortunately, HIS is not available locally for me. Would MSI be a good compromise? I've heard that their newer models are quite silent. I'm also looking for some case fans, I'm using a Coolermaster Storm Scout. The Corsair AF and SP fans look quite good, but I'm confused as to which I should use. SP is for radiators right? And AF is just for normal usage? I've also heard good things about Be Quiet. Too many options I'm also looking for a good, silent CPU cooler. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
  5. Hi I'm looking for a new PSU, I'm torn between the Corsair CX500 or the be Quiet! PURE POWER L8 CM 530W. I'm leaning towards the be Quiet, mainly because it has a modular design (cable management!). I'm also looking to reduce the amount of noise my PC makes, so the Be Quiet seems like the logical way to go. I'm also looking to upgrade my graphics card, either to a R9-270X (or 7870) or a 7850. Any recommendations for a good, quiet brand. First time AMD buyer here, so... Final question Like I said earlier, I'm looking to reduce the amount of noise my PC makes. Unfortunately, I have to sit very close to it, and at the moment I'm using stock fans which make hell of noise. Any suggestions for a good, silent CPU cooler, 2 140mm fans (front and top) and a 120mm fan (rear). I was thinking of maybe using be Quiet again, but I've also heard good things about Antec. Honestly, I know very little about fans/coolers. I'm just looking for some silent ones. Should I also look into some noise dampening foam? Does that stuff even work? My current specs: Coolermaster Storm Scout Chassis; stock 3 fans Intel Core i5 2nd Gen (Sandybridge) 3.0Ghz; stock CPU cooler Gigabyte mobo (can't remember model no. off hand) MSI GTS450 Cyclone 4 GB RAM A couple HDDs (1TB and 2 500GB) Huntkey Greenpower 550W PSU (known on the internet for randomly exploding; be afraid, be very afraid ) Windows 7 I live abroad, so no Amazon for me unfortunately. Still, I don't mind people linking there, I'll be able to find most of the stuff locally. Sorry if this is in the wrong section, hopefully it isn't.
