  1. Disabling CSM allows you to fast boot.. which is something i want. Installing windows on a good old sata drive is no problem; next thing I did is clone it on the NVME drive: and it boot just fine now. BUT as soon is I enable CSM.. it just ceases to post..
  2. MOtherboard: Asrock Steel Legend x570 CPU: 3900x Mem: g-skill tridet z cl16 - 3200 mhz -> 32gb GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2070 I want to install windows 10 on a (pm951) nvme drive, to do this I need to disable CSM.. but: after disabling CSM I got no post at all! Tried: Different settings with secure boot enabled / disabled Update BIOS to version 1.9 Edit: Juist read that the GPU needs to support uefi boot or something.. the 2070 is new enough isnt it? What else can I try? Thanks in advance!
  3. What could be interesting is to build a nvidia grid system like this. (to share GPU resources over different VM's, instead of pcie pass trough) an nvidia grid k2 card only cost around 360 dollars and has 8g of ram, so for older games you could have some proper performance!
  4. i'm with jj9987 here. Everybody has a laptop already, so why use ' office vm's '? Maybe the easiest solution is to not virtualise anything; and just combine the gaming and analytics part? You can use MS RDP for remote login which can be used for multiple users simultaneously. So while you game another can use the machine for analytics. @jj9987 using a gpu for multiple vm's is possible (Maybe you meant impossible on unraid), altough i think only quadro's support this? Not really sure.
  5. I have sort of the same problem, only with 2 2670's. With my system it will always boot if I use only 1 ddr stick per cpu. If I put in more then 2 per cpu booting will be eratic; sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt. My conclusion thus far is I have faulty ram slots.. Maybe the same with you? Can't hurt to try!
  6. This is a good read -> although it is from 2015 so maybe things are different now? TLDR: - FreeNAS needs at least 8gb - Using less then 8gb can cause various issues - It uses all of the memory as default because of caching
  7. I don't understand your use case? What do you want to stream exactly? Movies? If so: pre encode them and even with a J1900 I don;t think streaming should be an issue..
  8. 100% up time on a laptop without any sort of redundancy is not realistic. I never even saw a specialised hosting company offering more than 99% up time? An android tablet running 24/7 is not really a problem is it? Depending on the workload.. if the server utilises the cpu full tilt all the time it will probably die eventually, but normally (like my own tablet) 24/7 operation (read: 90% standby) is not a problem, at least not with mine.
  9. Actually.. I kind of like the idea of the android server! If you have an old phone or tablet just lying around, why not repurpose it this way? (who hasn't got a phone with a broken screen :-) ) This thread explains how to setup a MC server on android. Keep in mind that latency can be bad on a wifi connection, so a solution could be to use: USB OTG cable -> POWERED usb hub -> usb to ethernet An old laptop is doable as well, just don't expect a 99% up time (same goes for the android solution off course).
  10. Using a cloud only solution depends on what kind of files you use most often (Bandwith limitations) A good cloud platform is: Tresorit.com With a very big plus: they are subject to the privacy laws in the Netherlands and Ireland! Edit: A negative being the maximum storage space is 2TB
  11. It is possible to add USB drive to the array (or cache for that matter). Source
  12. My 2 cents: Don't use a powerline for low latency applications -> I tried a couple of different ones and seldom saw better results than 50ms with a ping to a local network pc. 'Proof'' in a LTT topic
  13. On accident i found a the setting on the server side: LAN, internet or both... It was set to both, so it routed the internet traffic as well as LAN traffic. Setting it to LAN only worked!
  14. This provider gets you unlimited storage for around 14 dollars.. I don't now what kind of platform you want to use to sell your pictures, but an options is to use a VPS and install the client front end on there. There should be some way to connect to the cloud platform mentioned before?
