  1. I recently built a new computer, it was fine for the first 4 days or so. No problems playing demanding games or any bench mark software. Yesterday (1 pm), i was playing CSGO, when suddenly the PC just powered itself off (black screen, all fans off) mid comp match. I quickly rebooted the PC it was fine for about 5 more minutes and then it crashed again. It starting booting again powered of again (before the BIOS screen), did this a few times. Then it started back up in to windows, and powered off again. Finally i restated it and i was able to get back in the game, where i was banned for being gone so long. The computer was fine till about 3pm, Playing dayz watch some youtube, ect. I went to play another comp game in CSGO, it was fine for the first 5 rounds. Then suddenly it just powered off again, it did the same fiasco that happened before. At this point i decided to start doing some tests. I started with a windows memory diagnostics, which found no errors I then assumed it was a PSU failure. So i used FUR mark and used the GPU and the CPU stress test just to run the computer at 100% to see if the power supply fails. This did nothing, the PC performed fine during this test. I don't know what tests i can preform next to verify which piece of hardware is failing, But it always seems to be CSGO which causes the PC to crash in the first case.
  2. So..... I was trying to use one of the new features of Plex to record live TV on my UNRAID server. I installed this device (i reference device a lot meaning this) which i got ages ago in to my server. Some more photos of the server can be seen here. Anyway when i first installed it, i did it with the server running as its only USB, so what could go wrong. Any way i pulled out my phone to check that the server had detected it in some way. And the first thing i notice is that the parody drive has gone missing. i this point i though that i may have nudged the server and one of the Sata connectors had come out. So i powered down the server, reinstalled the the drive and rebooted The server booted, to the point of the drives spinning up, but the web UI had not loaded I brought a monitor to the server and attached it this enabled me to restart the web UI Upon accessing the interface, the top Said "USB failure" and the key for the OS was no longer valid. I rebooted again, this time the server would load the OS. (Device still installed) The USB never appeared in the boot menu, even though it was plugged in After another restart the USB appeared in the boot menu (Device still installed) So i attempted to boot from it, but it just got stuck on BZroot, when the server is loading At this point i installed a new copy of unraid on that USB to no avail. I tried a new USB to no avail i even put in a new USB card (with fresh install) so that the boot media was not on the same set usbs. this was to no avail. So at this point i removed that device, and it still would not boot. I had to do a fresh install of UNRAID before it would boot. What possibly could be causing this device to interfere with the boot media so much? This device appears to work correctly on my windows 10 PC, and does not cause any of these strange symptoms
  3. HI, i purchased a second hand server some time ago now. I have recently installed some new RAM, and in the process of doing this I discovered what appeared to be a SO-DIMM slot. i really have no idea what it is, but there is just one of them sitting right next to some I/O ports. There is some more images and detail on the server over at another post here (the server is working now) i am just interested to find out what it is, any help will be much appreciated
  4. since my last post, i have played around with the cards and cable a bit, tried them in different configs and stuff. for some reason which i can not explain, the HBA card has started detecting all the drives which i have installed. the drives are being detected at the correct size and are being transferred to the OS ok. i would say that this post is closed since my original intentions have been achieved. (i can not end the thread, i still can not find the email i signed the original account up with)
  5. I have kinda lost access to "why you no work computer", i have no clue what email i signed up to it with, so i have abandon it and moved to this older account which I had. The HBA card and the adapter cable has arrived. when i first installed the HBA card in to the computer along with the cable, I installed 1 HDD. That was picked up with the correct size. When i installed the second hard drive, it was not picked up, but the first drive was still there. A few restarts later and the problem still persisted, so i moved where the cable from the HBA was plugged in to the back plane on the case. i moved the drives around every bay in the case, and the HBA card could not detect them. All the drives still worked as i checked them after putting them in all the positions. i then put the cable from the HBA back to where it started, and i still could not detect any drives. i attempted to change the settings in the HBA card but ran out of time. does any one have a idea why it would appear at the beginning but it will no longer appear, or could it be a configuration problem with the HBA card.
