  1. So, it's been a little while but I've had two m.2 drives to test with. I updated the BIOS to the newest available and that all went fine. Installed the m.2 and the same issue is back. No post. Just red light for CPU on the board. I have sent an email off to the UK Support for MSI and I guess I'll see what they say. Maybe there's a setting that I need to change but I've tried resetting the bios too so. I'm lost at this point. lol.
  2. Got some stuff going on today but will try this when I'm home. I checked and the board is still on the bios it left the factory with. None of the updates mention m.2 but maybe that will remedy the situation. lol.
  3. Exactly. That's how I've been feeling. How did you do the bios flash? Were you getting display out or does your motherboard also have usb flash etc?
  4. Hey, thanks for your input there. So, a couple of things. I am not getting any display out at all, when the m.2 drive is installed. Even if I remove all my SATA drives. No display. Also, for some reason. The screw that holds the second m.2 shield is stuck and I cannot unscrew the shield but I also don't have the greatest tools. lol. I want to try the USB Bios flash with the newest update but not sure what you're supposed to do with that.
  5. Hey everybody! My first time here, been watching LTT for years though. I have recently built a new PC, my first time on AMD after struggling with a 2600k since 2014. My build is: Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL MSI X570S Tomahawk Max WiFi AMD Ryzen 7 5800X EKWB D-RGB 360mm AIO 16GB G.Skill Trident Z Royal 3600 mHz C17 GTX 1070 Founders I have 3 HDD's and 2 SATA SSD's 500GB WD Black M.2 SSD So, I'm a qualified IT Support technician, been fixing and building machines for years. But I'm a noob when it comes to one, AMD and two, m.2 drives. As I've been on such old hardware for years I've never had the luxury of rocking an M.2 so I was super excited to try them out for speed compared to SATA SSD's, but I've had nothing but trouble with mine. Whenever I install the M.2 into the system, it refuses to display anything, not even post and the motherboard shows a red light next to CPU, which sounds bad. But then when I remove the M.2 drive it will post and boot perfectly fine. I've tried booting with no SATA drives installed and just the M.2 but still the same result. No display and the CPU light on the motherboard. I was starting to think maybe it's the socket on the motherboard or the CPU has some sort of defect in relation to M.2 but then PCI-E would have issues surely and my graphics card is operating normally. The motherboard is X570S so the updated X570 chipset so was "ready for Ryzen 5000". So I thought there wouldn't be any issues but yeah. If anybody has heard of this issue or could offer some advice. Then I would be eternally grateful. TIA.
  6. I understand that mate! Thanks though! Seems to have helped so far though. No flashing since changing the setting. Gonna play a game or something and see if it will then because that's mainly when I had the flashing problems. On my NVIDIA Control Panel I have set to 4:2:0 and 8 bit, 60hz and 3840x2160. On my TV, all I did was turn off that Ultra HD Deep Colour setting. The colours aren't quite as good, but that's to be expected without 4:4:4 and 10 bit. I'll post back on here in 24 hours and hopefully that's it sorted. Thanks for the tips though. (I'm just a Desktop IT Support guy, not really AV crazy knowledgeable, apart from getting games to look nice. )
  7. Ok, it hadn't reset the refresh rate lower, but because the colour output setting had changed as it must've recognised when I switched off Deep Colour, it no longer supports 4:2:2 10 bit Colour. Changed it to 4:2:0 8bit. Definitely back to 60hz with no lag. Now just to wait a while and see if the flashing is still there. Hopefully you've just fixed all my problems mate. Been having this issue since I got the TV and first plugged my PC into it...
  8. Ok, so I have turned off the HDMI Ultra HD Deep Colour setting. It definitely feel's as though it's only picking up 30hz now, can see noticeable judder on the cursor, and massive input lag, whereas with the setting on, there is no input lag really. I'll see if it gets rid of the flashing though. Not sure it will tbh.
  9. Alright, fair enough. Sorry. Yeah, even with it at 50hz, it still has the flashing issue. I will try with HDMI Ultra HD Deep Colour off, but that is the setting that allows the TV to take in 4k @ 60hz, because it is switched on for whichever ports you want to use at 4k 60hz. So, I'm not sure if it will help at all?
  10. @e23- Thanks mate, I'll definitely have a look. But for a TV, the response time on mine is relatively low. Specially in Game setting. There is no option to change refresh rate in the TV settings unfortunately. Also, there is no such thing as a HDMI 1.4 or 2.0 Cable. It's the port on the devices you're connecting that dictate the HDMI standard being used. The cable specification only goes as far as "High Speed" & "Premium High Speed". Former being 10.2Gbps and latter being 18Gbps. The cable I'm using is 18Gbps certified too. Which is another thing confusing me. lol. It seems to have calmed down, only flashing when switching TV to this HDMI input, and only doing it a few times and then stopping. Or when going into a game, and it switching to full screen, it flashed a couple of times and then stopped. But I still want to find a way to get rid of this. Have tried almost everything that I can think of now though. Different HDMI cables, different HDMI port on the TV, different Graphics card in my PC, different settings (50hz/59h/60hz). Driving me mad at this point.
  11. @Glenwing- Had a check today, the HDMI Cable I'm using is the Amazon Basics newest revision. But it says it's capable of up to 18Gbps. The one I used before isn't, but I get flashing with both cables. Either that, or the Amazon Basics one isn't actually capable of 18Gbps. But that would be false advertisement. So. Tried changing the refresh rate to 50hz, still get the flashing, but only when something flashes the screen on and off, like entering a full screen game, or when I switch to the PC input on my TV, I think the way my TV works is, it switches off the HDMI port when you're not on that device, because every time I go from say, another HDMI input like my TiVo box, to my PC's input, the screen flashes a couple of times, and then stops. Specially if I'm just browsing the web like I am on here.
  12. YES! Thank you. Just gonna check where I bought the cable I'm using to see if it meets the 18Gbps speeds just in case. Is it good to mention it's not really happening when it's just sat on web pages and things, or my desktop. But happens a lot when playing games? watching 4k Video? This might be the explanation I needed to find!
  13. I don't know if you know. But even Linus has done a video showing why all "High Speed" HDMI cables are the same. It's not the cable that has the 2.0 or 1.0 specification, but the ports on the devices you're connecting. E.g. In my case, the Graphics Card & TV. As long as it is "High Speed", it can cope with anything from 1080p up. (https://www.cnet.com/uk/news/why-all-hdmi-cables-are-the-same/)
  14. When I go to 1080p or 720p it seems to be fine. It's just whenever it's displaying 4k content. (Only from PC as mentioned before, it works in all TV Apps and so on, just not from PC)
  15. I know mate. Thanks. I appreciate any help that can be offered as it has me baffled. lol.
