  1. Thanks! The card is really small and (I think) needs a x1 slot. Is there any wat I can see whatever lane uses how much x16/x8/x4 etc. for when I plug it in?
  2. Hi! I'm planning on installing an eSata card I found into my pc. I will use it for connecting hard drives and such. My only question is in which slot I need to put it and does it have impact on any other parts (graphics card or m.2 ssd). My motherboard is a Z270 msi pro carbon and has 3 x16 pci lanes and 3 x1 slots. Thanks!
  3. New or used? Because I bought my gtx 1070 for 400 euros before the mining hassle so I would guess it's in both instances a good deal
  4. Ehhhh you are posting in another topic. Try to make a new topic
  5. @Windows7ge and @WereCatf Thanks for the help! I have a few questions: - Why do people but a pc as NAS over a normal barboness NAS? And should I consider it? (The price difference would be huge if I'm correct) - Which bareboness NAS should I look for (4 drives or more)? - My dads iMac is the model i7 from 2011 and has ethernet but not the ability to be upgraded with a gigabit card or do you add this to the NAS only? - Is a thunderbolt 2.0 hard drive workable for editing? PS. Sorry for the reply above *facepalm*
  6. Hi everyone, My dad edits in Final Cut Pro X on his iMac. In fcp the footage is copied to the project and now his main os drive full. I saw that you can change the file destination so that's what I'm planning to do. I have 2 (or 3) options: 1. Use external hard disks. Probably USB 2.0 because thunderbolt cages are really expensive. (iMac only has USB 2.0) 2. Buy a bareboness NAS (probably 2nd handed) and put in 4x 2TB of wd yellow labelled hard drives. (I have these laying around) (3. Use the internal 2nd hard drive that is almost full. So it probably needs to be upgraded) I was thinking about getting a bareboness NAS en putting the hard drives in but the only concern I have is if our internet speed is too low. It is 40Mb/s up an 2Mb/s down is this too low for editing of it and will the internet be slow for other people in the house when he is editing? Thanks!
  7. Wait what it is working!!! thanks all for the help
  8. @jde3 & @Meic & @Mikensan & @NinJake First of all thanks for the help! I did some different things. - I found that my ipv4 adress from the server is static (always the same) but my ipv6 adress changes. I now only port forwarded for ipv4 is this good or do I need ipv6? - I tried netcat and used to website http://www.ipfingerprints.com/portscan.php I tried both my server IP adress and the external IP adress. The results I got are as followed: Server IP adress External IP adress 7777 filtered open 7778 filtered filtered 27015 filtered open - Also tried to use the setting 'Open this device completely for Internet sharing via IPv4 (exposed host).' but this made no difference - I am also sure the configuration for IP adresses is correct because the server IP adress get switched to my enternal IP adress Why do I need to use netcat? (It seemed to work though) But can I be that the serverports and the ports are forwarderd are not the same because the site gives all ports closed when I only have the server running.

  10. I found that there is a difference between ipv4 and ipv6. The ipv4 is the same but ipv6 is different. The problem is that on the server it's something like this '1234:123:12a1:1:1234:12a2:123a:88a7' and on the port forwarding site I only can fill in 4 boxen between the ':' with in the beginning this: ': :' EDIT: nevermind this is ip adress is the same in the port settings
  11. On windows you can change the ports with the 'server_start.bat' file like this: On linux however the 'server_start.sh' file is this: (Yes I changed the things between '<>')
  12. I'm sure I have a static IP adress. The ports I have configered are also the good IP adress.
  13. It tried it with both my internal and external ip adress and all closed...
