  1. Im not sure if this is the right thread to post this question on, if its not im sorry in advance. Im playing a moba on my new lap top ( i5 8250U, 8GB ram, GTX 1050 2GB) which isnt very demanding. When i use the recommended settings from ge force expirence it tells me i should have everything on max 1080p. When i would do that i would have high frame rates but when a fight in game would break out i would start lagging a little. So i lowered everything to minimum 1080p and i would have 150fps until a fight would happen in the game and i would again have the lag. I play the same game on my PC ( i5 6500, 8GB ram, GT 740 2GB) at 1080p medium settings with 100+ fps without any lag. Im curious is this maybe a bottleneck from my CPU or is my CPU good enough and i should look for the problem somewhere else? I was thinking its this just bc without the boost the clock of the i5 8250U is pretty slow. If anyone is curious the Moba is "Smite". Thank you in advance.
  2. Yea i went into the device manager, deleted all the drivers under "Sound, video and game controllers" ( just had audio drivers there), and intrestingly enough when i restarted the laptop it didnt install the drivers. That was also very strange bc i know that it should have. The HP's site works fine, as in i can download the drive installer normally, its just when i start going through the installation it gives me that error.
  3. I just bought a new laptop ( HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0012nm, specs on the bottom ). I installed Windows 10 and used "Driver Easy" to install all the drivers. After i noticed that when i plugged in my headphones that the sound would be playing on the headphones and on the laptop speakers. First i thought that maybe i didnt plug them in all the way, but that wasnt the issue. When i go to the "playback devices" it doesnt show my headphones, just the speakers ( yet it still plays the sound on both at the same time). I deleted and reinstalled the drivers a LOT of times, without any results. I tried going to HP's site to download the drivers directly but when i tried to install them that way it would give me an error "Error Code: -0001" ( ill add a photo of it). When i use the Windows troubleshooting it says it found a problem "Generic Audio Driver", but it doesnt fix it. BUT when i connect my bluetooth headphones it works "normaly". By normaly i mean the speakers dont play at the same time, but in "playback devices" i have 2 things for my headphones: Stereo and Hands-Free ( Stereo sounds ok but is disabled until i enable them ( have to do it every time i connect them) and the Hands-Free has GOD AWFUL quality of sound). But this issue might be due to the headphones being very cheap chinese headphones. I have no idea what to do anymore, its driving me crazy. You are my last hope!!! specs: i5 8250U, 8GB RAM, GTX1050, 128GB m.2, 1TB HDD (dont this can help but just in case its here xD)
  4. To tell you the truth im mostly considenring: HP Pavilion 15-cx0012nm with the i5-8250U, 8GB of dual channel memory, the 1050. Because its has amazing specs for me and is on a big discount right now but the Asus TUF FX505GD-BQ111 is very similar in specs except an i5-8300H, single channel memory and a bit worse HDD/SDD combo for a same price. I guess my question is, is the i5-8300H much better then the i5-8250U like the passmark would suggest, that i can justify the loss of dual channel memory and the loss of the m.2
  5. Thank you VERY much! One more quick question. Are gpu's like the geforce 940mx, mx110, mx 130, mx 150 and radeon 530 - 540 any good for gaming, compared to my GeForce GT 740?
  6. Not really, im drawing for me. So a good display is not necessary and also im used to using a SUPER bad monitor on my pc, that i wont notice it. As you can see on my excel file, i just focused on the main components since the "bonus" specs arent so important to me.
  7. Yea i guessed about passmark. I didnt attach the photo because of the benchmarks, but to show the cpu's and gpu's that are in laptops i can potentially buy. Im from Serbia. Budget is hard to say, because it also depends on how much my family is willing to give me, but i think it will be up to 800 euros. I dont care about the weight at all, and i would love for the battery life to be as best as possible, but i also dont mind having to use it mostly on the charger. I originally didnt post my budget because of the shitty prices/choices in Serbia, but if it helps ill attach the Excel file with the laptops that i found here in my price range. I hope you will understand what i was doing because its a bit of a mess ( not finished yet ). They are all sorted by price ( but some are on discount right, and if they are i sorted them by looking at their discounted price). And if you dont have time or even dont want to look through this tell me some laptop and ill try to find a similar equivalent here. Thank you in advance Laptopovi 2018.xlsx
  8. Hello guys, As the title says, i need help picking my new laptop. There are a few problems. First of all my knowledge of laptop GPU's/CPU's isn't so great, second is that prices for technology in my country are crazy ( for reference iPhone Xs Max 512GB here costs 1915 euros ). I plan to use this laptop for gaming, drawing in Photoshop and Illustrator and running some other programs that are similarly demanding. And ,so you know, when i say gaming i don't mean running the latest AAA games on ultra, far from it. My PC has an i5 6500, GeForce GT 740 (2GB) and 8 GB of RAM, and its capable of pretty much what i need ( could use a better GPU tbh). Ive attached an image of CPU's and GPU's that are in the laptops that i can afford, and i would like you to help me with what good for me. I know the 1050 is the best (and i would LOVE to get it) , however i'm not sure that i will be able to afford laptops with it :/ P.S. The "benchmark" in the photo is the scores form passmark.com, since i didn't know how else to compare. And some specs might not be right since shops in my country aren't the best and writing them down. Sorry for the long story. =)
  9. Thanks for your recommendation, but the GPU is a bit overkill. I would rather if you know a laptop with similar specs (lower GPU, or even integrated) but that's cheaper. I should have 850$ but i'd love to save some money. I don't intend to play any games on this lap top. Nothing i will do with it will implement the GPU. That's why i'm curious if anyone knows a laptop like that. Because every laptop with a good CPU that i found has a overkill (for me) GPU.
  10. Hi guys, I'm looking for a new laptop to buy and i could really use some recommendations and advice. I intend to use it for two main purposes, school work and chess simulations. I've already tested my chess simulations program to see if it uses the GPU. The answer is no. So what i need is a laptop, with a good CPU, 8GB of RAM, windows operated and up to 850usd. I'm from a not so well developed country so i cant really find anything that fits my requirements in our shops. Thanks in advanced. =)
  11. Thanks for the advice. It happened yesterday at 3:30am, so i didn't have time to try everything so i just turned off my power supply. I just came home started my PC and tried to shut it down, and it worked. So i have no idea whats going on. Do you think i should reinstall my drivers or just wait and see if the problem comes back?
  12. Hi guys, I got an update yesterday, 24.1.2017, for nvidia drivers for my GT 740 gpu. After installing it, when i tried to shut down my pc, it just starts back up(baisicaly just restarts). I tried shuting it down in the start menu, manually by holding the button on my computer and even through command prompt...always with the same result. Im just wonthering if someone else is expiricing this issue, because im not even sure that its becausee of drivers, but i tried a few solutions that i found online that werent connected with drivers, with no resolve. I have windows 7. I tried reinstalling the drivers both automatically and manually and using the "clean" install that nvidia provides...the only thing i havent tried is going back to old drivers. Hope you can shine some light on my problem. P.s. This is my first time posting on a forum so i hope im following all the rules of the forum, thanks in advance.
