  1. I know you said it wasn't coming from fans, but that's really what it sounds like to me. Have you checked the CPU cooler and GPU fans as well? I had a similar noise and it was one of the cables of my non-modular power supply that was barely touching one of my fans. It was really hard to diagnose with the PC off, I had to leave it running and take the side panel off to figure out where the noise was coming from.
  2. I actually have done a fresh install since this issue started, I probably should have mentioned that in my "things tried" section. I moved from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and did a 100% fresh install from the Microsoft website on a USB drive. Other than this weirdness, I actually really love the Vega card! It's sort of a tinkerers' dream, although I don't do that much tinkering myself. I find their architecture really cool which I suppose is not a good reason to actually own one, but I got it for a really good deal before the GPU shortage so I'm not really looking to upgrade anytime soon. Plays the higher end games just fine, for some reason it only struggles with the easy ones lol.
  3. I'm going to post everything that is going on here and maybe somebody can help me out. I've made a previous post about some of these issues, but it never got any comments and is now considered old so I figured I would update the situation here and hope that this time someone will have an idea of what is happening. Boot Cycle (happens most times I try to turn on my computer): First boot/wake from sleep: PC powers on and appears to post, but no video out on either monitor no matter what I do Second boot: PC does not post, no video out (I know this because instead of having to hold the power button to turn off the PC, it turns off as soon as I tap it) Third boot: PC boots up, I get video out and load into Windows normally This basically happens every time I put my PC to sleep or power it off for an extended period of time, although interestingly it does not seem to happen when just clicking restart within Windows. Blank Screen: If I leave my PC idle for a long time, say overnight, sometimes I come back to a blank grey (sometimes a random color) screen on both displays that can only be fixed by pressing the power button and going through the whole 3 boots as labeled above. This also happens when playing a game that uses a low, but non-zero amount of my GPU. Examples are Stardew Valley or Vampire Survivors. Mid game all video and audio will stop. One Monitor Broke: Sometimes after the third boot I only get video out to one monitor. I have to unplug and replug the displayport cables in my GPU to get video out on both monitors, although this seems to only work 75% of the time. I just keep restarting and replugging until it works. Things Tried: I upgraded my CPU + motherboard + RAM a couple months ago and the issue has been happening since before then, so it isn't any of those parts. I've reinstalled the GPU over 5 times because I thought maybe it wasn't connected well or there was something like dust in the PCIE slot or on the GPU PCIE pins DDUed the drivers and reinstalled them multiple times (trying to fix another issue that I ended up resolving) If anyone has any ideas for what the issue could be, I would appreciate it a lot. Thank you! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MHPVqp
  4. This is exactly what I was thinking. Cut off air supply, ants will die. Not sure the best way to clean them out once they're dead or if the eggs will survive. I'd leave the laptop in there for a few days if you don't NEED to use it and try some compressed air or something once they all die.
  5. MIGHT try this if he agrees to it. I mentioned it to him and he seemed pretty put off. I think it's mostly resale value, hoping that selling the broken one on ebay will help pay for the markup on the new one. I agree with him that it might be hard to sell a card that has been baked in the oven, but I guess it's up to him what it's worth.
  6. Can't put it in my PC right now but will try my little brothers tomorrow and update.
  7. This post is about my father's pc, I have all of the important information about it but am really only to convey what he knows. My father claimed that after leaving his computer, it would not turn on when he returned. He said he left a video playing and may have left a game on in the background. He called me and asked me to take a look, and I noticed the GPU fans were not spinning. As far as I know, there are no lights on the GPU to tell if it is getting power. I instructed him to uninstall and reinstall the GPU. It still didn't work, so he tried an old one from a drawer in the house and that one DID power on with video out. He tried his current one again to no avail. No fan spinning, no video out, no power as far as we can tell. Made sure both display cables and monitors worked using the other GPU, so it isn't that either. Is the GPU 100% certifiably dead? Don't want to tell him to buy a new one (especially in today's market) if he doesn't have to. Got a lot of medical bills and stuff to pay at this time, but he really wants to get back on Lost Ark as he plays with a bunch of friends and doesn't want to fall behind. He was telling me he was just going to 2-day ship an overpriced one from Amazon so he wouldn't miss out, but I convinced him to wait until we could see if somebody on here could help. Thanks as always for any help. Specs he can tell me: Ryzen 5 3600 Aorus B450I Pro Wifi (itx sized) Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 Mini Some seasonic gold certified psu
  8. That's a fair question. For me, I often post a question and then leave the tab open. If 100 people see it and nobody responds, I can assume that there probably is not an easy answer. If only 10 people see it though, I might want to ask it somewhere else and see if it generates more traffic or ask again/bump it in a week or two if the problem continues. The same logic applies when looking for posts with a similar issue before posting my own. If I could see that 150 people saw someone's post about it a week or two ago and nobody had an answer, I would know that it isn't something I should expect to get a reply to quickly/at all. If I see 1000 views or something else very high, I could guess that many other people are having a similar issue, or it was brought up somewhere in tech media. Currently, when I search for a topic, I can see comment count only and not view count, even before clicking on it so I have absolutely no way of gaging that. Sometimes this information is easily viewable in comments, but other times there are posts with a decent number of views and no comments. That's why I think view counts are useful to me personally, although I can't speak for anyone else.
  9. I know the title doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but I couldn't figure out how to explain it well in just a few words. As far as I can tell, the only time you can see the number of views on a post before you click on it. However, sometimes it would be nice to not have to click the back button and scroll through all of the post listings to find the one you were just on to see the view count. Additionally, when looking at an old post, this can become difficult and time consuming to do. It also may be nice to see the number of comments on a post next to the view count. Since this information is already displayed on next to the post name before clicking on it, hopefully it wouldn't be too difficult to implement. If I am blind and just missing it somewhere I apologize, but this is something that bothers me pretty much every time I ask a question or try to find an answer to a question on the forums. Thanks
  10. Hi everyone, I have a bit of a strange problem here. It takes 3 tries for my PC to boot successfully. This issue has been going on for a few months now, although it took me a while to figure out how to make it boot every time that I want it to. I'll walk you through what happens and what I've done to try to fix it. Boot Cycle: First boot/wake from sleep: PC powers on and appears to post, but no video out on either monitor no matter what I do Second boot: PC does not post (I know this because instead of having to hold the power button to turn off the PC, it turns off as soon as I tap it) Third boot: PC boots up, I get video out and load into Windows normally This basically happens every time I put my PC to sleep or power it off for an extended period of time, although interestingly it does not seem to happen when just clicking restart within Windows. Important information: I bought my Vega 56 GPU used off eBay. The previous owner let me know in the listing that the VBIOS was flashed to a Vega 64 card, but there was a switch on the card to switch it back to Vega 56 if I'd like. This happens with BOTH vbios settings. Related issues: 1. If I leave my PC idle for a long time, say overnight, sometimes I come back to a blank grey screen on both displays that can only be fixed by pressing the power button and going through the whole 3 boots 2. Sometimes after the third boot I only get video out to one monitor. I have to unplug and replug the displayport cables in my GPU to get video out on both monitors, although this seems to only work 75% of the time. Steps taken so far: Well, I rebuilt half my PC a month ago as an upgrade. Replaced CPU, motherboard, and RAM. Issue remained after that. As part of this process, I obviously had to reinstall my GPU. I've reinstalled it over 5 times hoping it would be a solution and it has never helped. DDUed the drivers, reinstalled them. Made sure there was no overclock/undervolt on the card (other than the vbios flash) PCPartPicker Specs List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4RxKJf End: If anyone has any ideas as to what could be causing this issue, I would greatly appreciate the advice. Thank you!
  11. tl;dr check other points of failure more closely Okay, so I am NOT crazy. Or maybe from a reader's perspective I am, I'm not sure. The problem ended up being that the GFI that our switch is plugged in to keeps getting tripped, which is why it was cutting in and out. It finally went out for good. Our switch only has one tiny LED on it, and with the lights on, I didn't notice that it was turned off. I went back in there to check it again and forgot to turn the lights on, therefore I noticed that the little green glow was missing. Seems like an electrical problem instead of a PC problem! The time I tested my xbox's connection was when it was going in and out, so maybe I should have checked it again once it was out for good. Anyways, glad to find out my brand-new motherboard doesn't already have a fried NIC.
  12. My ethernet seems to have stopped working. Earlier today it cut out twice but eventually came back, and then it finally cut out a third time after about 2 hours and has not come back since. My house has ethernet wired through the walls to ports, similar to an electrical outlet, but instead it has ethernet ports. These do not seem to be the problem. Windows troubleshooter told me that there did not appear to be an ethernet cable connect/it was not connected correctly. The lights on my motherboard next to the ethernet port do not light up when there is a cable plugged in like they usually do. Here are the steps I've done to troubleshoot so far: Unplug/replug ethernet to both wall and PC 3 different ethernet cables, one known good from my xbox (in the same outlet my xbox is plugged in to, so it isn't the outlets) Unplug/replug cables to network hub (just in case) disable/reenable all network devices in device manager Inspected the port for any physical damage Restarted PC Installed Intel LAN drivers for my motherboard and Windows version from Asrock's website Remove and reinstall the device from device manager attempted to find the ethernet port in the bios to ensure it was enabled (was unable to locate it and a google search leading to a forum discussion suggested that disabling this port in bios is not an option on this motherboard) Anyone have any ideas as to what the issue could be? Thank you! PC Specs: System Builder - Core i5-11600K 3.9 GHz 6-Core, Radeon RX VEGA 56 8 GB PULSE, Smilodon ATX-612WB ATX Mid Tower w/500 W Power Supply - PCPartPicker Windows 11 Pro
  13. No biggie! I know it's pretty confusing, when I first started Googling it and searching on forums, I was mixing up the two a lot. Totally understand.
  14. Gonna go ahead and add the video to this topic since it hasn't generated much traction. Maybe it will help someone identify the issue. I managed to edit it down to just one minute. It's still processing at the time of writing this comment, but it shouldn't be much longer.
  15. Hi, I was recently gifted a used Xbox 360 wireless racing wheel from someone I knew who sold their 360 a long time ago and was keeping it in storage in case it was worth something. After I expressed interest in it, they told me I could just go ahead and take it home. I bought an adapter on ebay for $25, one of those generic 360 adapters, and seem to have avoided the common issue of Windows not recognizing the device and not providing it a driver. Maybe it's because I'm on Windows 11. Anyways, I managed to connect it a few times but each time after around 30 seconds it disconnects for seemingly no reason from the adapter. The adapter is still on and detected in Windows, but the controller loses connection to the adaptor. I have a video of it, but it's like 2.5 minutes long and it doesn't really show anything I can't describe. Basically, I pair them, it works for 30 seconds, and then it disconnects and goes back to blinking green. Anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thank you!
  16. I actually do play Valorant so this is good information to know!
  17. I'm not op! Just sharing that this was the issue I had a little while ago installing the OS. But yeah that was a great tip I hope it can help OP.
  18. This is what did it for me. I ran the health check and it said that everything was good, but when I ran the installer, it told me my PC was not compatible. Just had to enable secure boot and it worked perfectly.
  19. Because Windows 11 requires TPM and secure boot to be enabled which are not default BIOS settings on my motherboard, what would happen if I reset the BIOS by either failing to boot 3 times or removing the CMOS battery? My guess is Windows would just give me an error and not let me sign in, but I'm curious as to if anyone actually knows for sure what would happen.
  20. Glad that I didn't go with that one then for sure.
  21. I'm gonna go ahead and mark this topic as answered. I spent a lot of time looking through Amazon and have seen all but one of these options, ended up deciding on the E10K because my old headphones had a knob and I kept reaching for it the whole time I've had these only to realize it doesn't do anything anymore. Additionally, I really like the look and think I will be unable to notice a significant difference in DAC quality. Thank you for the suggestions
  22. Alright, mad respect for being able to say you aren't sure! Thank you for the suggestion, if I had a bit more money I'd definitely look in to that one. Sadly I'm just trying to spend the gift card balance in my Amazon account; Christmas is expensive!
  23. I was looking for something similar in price point to the one I linked, around $100 USD. Got any suggestions in that price range?
  24. Yes, I have read the pinned post multiple times, but because this is my first pair of actually nice headphones, I have no idea if I'm suffering from the issues that they discuss. Especially because these are open backs and I can hear everything like I don't even have headphones on, I have no idea how to detect noise. The AC and my PC are both too loud. Okay, now that I got that out of the way, I recently picked up a pair of HifiMan HE400se headphones based on someone's suggestion on these forums. I love them to be honest, compared to the headset I was using before and even my wireless Sony headphones they are incredible. My ears still tingle when I take them off and it's great. However, they just do not get loud enough for me from my PC's 2.5mm jack. In my other post, it was suggested to me that if I had any issues with onboard audio, I should pick up a Meizu Hifi / Hifi Pro dongle. However, these appear to be sold out everywhere that I see. I was interested in this desktop combo from FiiO, but was told that it didn't have super great performance compared to the Meizu or even an Apple dongle which can be had for under $10. With that being said, does anyone have a suggestion for what I should get? I definitely need an AMP, but do I need a DAC? Whichever one I need, what should I get? The options in the pinned post about recommendations seem to be outdated (in that it is difficult to find them still available) and they only give one or two recommendations at this price point. Thank you!
  25. Been playing Apex for 3 hours and nothing over 75. Very happy with how it turned out. Thank you!
