  1. Hmm will it fit ? Ill just go with the wd. I dont think i need that much speed anyway. Thank you for your advice!
  2. Hi, I am wondering what is the term that describes the display of the apple mac book and huawei matebook. The one that it seems like a clean glass encompasses the whole screen (even the bezel). I don't mean the resolution or matte/glossy type. I am asking because I and looking for a laptop that has a similar display. I've come upon some laptops of similar display but they were touchscreens. I am currently using a asus ux430 with a matte finish and I kind of hate when dust gets on the region where the screen and the bezel connects. Thanks!
  3. Interesting. Higher read/write is good but from what I'm seeing (from the reviews) it runs hotter than most brands. Is that still alright ? Also IDK why but the dimension is longer than crucial / wd.
  4. The is also this one but I don't know the brand. https://www.amazon.co.jp/シリコンパワー-PCIe3-0×4-NVMe1-3-P34A80シリーズ-SP512GBP34A80M28/dp/B07MV91LKW/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=nvme+ssd&qid=1565258078&s=gateway&sr=8-6
  5. There is also the WD black and samsung 970 evo but it goes for twice the price (for the same capacity). would that increase in price be worth it for the performance increase (if there is)? Just to clarify, would the socket of the WD SN500 would be compatible with the s540 ? What I saw in the laptop was this one: https://www.ark-pc.co.jp/i/13511930/ I'm just a little confused with the socket types for these nvme ssd.
  6. Thank you so much ! Also about this,Which one do you think if a better choice ? I found a good deal but not sure which slot is the best or appropriate for the system https://www.amazon.co.jp/【国内正規代理店品】WD-2280-SN500-500GB-WDS500G1B0C-EC/dp/B07SQVJ31H/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?keywords=500+gb+ssd+m.2+nvme&qid=1565255901&s=gateway&sr=8-3-spons&psc=1 https://www.amazon.co.jp/Crucial-P1シリーズ-Type2280-PCIe3-0x4-CT500P1SSD8JP/dp/B07JWK33MV/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=500%2Bgb%2Bssd%2Bm.2%2Bnvme&qid=1565255901&s=gateway&sr=8-5&th=1 I'll just stick to 8gb then. Thanks again!
  7. I see. Then i wont change the ram. Yeah so regarding the ssd. I just want to know if simply adding 2242 m.2 (as there is a free spot) a good choice rather than changing the original 2280 m.2. No problem with clean install of windows, ive done it before. Thanks for the time
  8. 4 soldered + 4 non-soldered, I plan to change the non-soldered into 8 ? is that possible ? Yeah original is only 256 gb for the R5 model, i'd like to have 512gb. Is that possible ?
  9. Would you suggest to just add a 2242 m.2 or just change the other ssd entirely ?
  10. Hi again. So I went and got myself the R5 version (will get it next week). I am considering to upgrade the RAM (to 12gb at least) and the m.2 ssd (to at least 500gb). Just want to know, what type of m.2 ssd is in there ('cause I'm confused with the different slot and size I'm seeing) ? Also what is a good brand for this that is not too overpriced (like samsung)? Thanks again!
  11. I'm looking at the ideapad s540 (14"). there are two variants (the intel and ryzen) I'm looking at the 8gb ram, 256gb ssd model. The only difference is the cpu and gpu. INTEL (i5-8265U + UHD 620):https://www.lenovo.com/jp/ja/notebooks/ideapad/s500-series/Lenovo-IdeaPad-S540-14IWL/p/88IPS501190 AMD (R 5 3500 + Vega) : https://www.lenovo.com/jp/ja/notebooks/ideapad/s500-series/Lenovo-IdeaPad-S540-14API/p/88IPS501194 I'm actually just worried that the 2gb reserved vram (with Ryzen model) is going to limit the snappiness when doing documents or spreadsheets while doing google chrome.
  12. Hi Thanks for the review. I was actually planning to buy one. Not entirely sure if I should go with the Ryzen version (3500) or intel (i5) as I'm worried about the 2gb reserved ram. It's going to be a general purpose laptop for college (documents, excel and maybe a bit of video editing). The i5 version is just $50 pricier. May I ask for you advice/opinion on this? Also, is the screen glossy or anti-glare? Thank you very much!
  13. Thanks for checking. I have to agree that a ssd would really improve the Quality of life, but I'll check first how much data is expected to come out of the data processing first, in any case, upgrades (particularly the ram and ssd) are still possible in the future.
