I got into PC building around 2011 when my friend showed me the ins and outs of a pc. I never was much of a PC enthusiast until he showed me how it all works, then I got enthralled by how amazing and simple it all really is. About a year after that, I built my first PC.

  1. Thanks for another suggestion. CSM is in fact disabled as well and still no dice. I am awaiting approval to get into the GIGABYTE forums to try posing my question there as well. I'll also see if there is a VBIOS update available for my GPU. Maybe it being out of date was fine with my 3 y/o mobo, but not so much with a more modern one with an up to date BIOS itself.
  2. I KNEW I was forgetting to mention something before posting this haha. Unfortunately I am on the latest BIOS F20b already, but thanks for the suggestion.
  3. Hey everyone! First a bit of backstory... See my signature below, I previously had these same specs, except a 10700K and a Aorus Z490 Ultra Gaming mobo. I had Resizable BAR enabled on that system and no problems. Fast forward to now, I recently installed a 12700K alongside an AORUS Z690 Elite AX DDR4 motherboard. I can't get the darn thing to post with ReBAR enabled. I cleared CMOS, and made sure it was the ONLY setting I changed, and no post. So I am certain it is not some other issue causing instability. Without ReBAR enabled, everything works fine, any ideas? Although the benefit is marginal, I still would like to know what the issue may be and if it's fixable. Thanks for your time and expertise. **EDIT** I have installed the latest BIOS version, F20b, for this mobo.
  4. The DT 1990's were well outta my price range. I ended up trying out both the Tygr 300R and the 560S (thanks Amazon next-day shipping). I found that while the 560S were an improvement over the 6XX's for directional audio (with no EQ's or virtualization), it wasn't enough of an improvement to justify buying them. I could see the appeal for large scale games like a Battle Royale where it's less about footsteps, but more about determining a far off location from a sniper shot or something. The footsteps were certainly more defined, but when a target was real close, I did have a harder time pinpointing where they were coming from. Ultimately I have decided to go with the Beyerdynamic Tygr 300R. The imaging on those were far and beyond any other headset I have tried to date. While the overall sound quality was lesser than the 560S, it's a fair price to pay for the much improved directionality, particularly in close quarters. Thanks for the advice and your time, cheers!
  5. Funny you mention his channel. It was through his videos how I came to find out about the Tygr 300R!
  6. Hey everyone, thanks for taking the time to check out my post and share your wisdom/opinions. For reference, I currently use the Massdrop Sennheiser HD 6XX paired with a Sound Blaster AE-5 Plus for everything. Love the soundstage and bass response is right up my alley. Sounds great for movies, singleplayer immersion, and racing games. However the main problem I have with them is directional audio, particularly in an arena shooter like Call of Duty. I have tuned an EQ to my liking and use the virtualization found in Sound Blaster Command to make it as good as I can (see image at the bottom), but it's just not cutting it. I also tried disabling the EQ's and virtualization to try out CoD's built-in virtualization and I found it quite disappointing. I am fully aware of my ineptitude with EQ's, any suggestions on adjusting that is welcome as well. I played around and what I came up with below sounded fine enough. What led me on this mission to find some better headphones was actually playing the MWII beta on PS5 with the Sony Pulse 3D wireless headphones. Although overall audio quality was quite trash compared to the 6XX's, the directional audio was amazing, and without using the PS5's Tempest 3D audio. So when the beta started up on PC, I quickly found myself guessing a lot of the time where footsteps were coming from. I did not expect such a stark contrast, as I was probably giving too much credit to Call of Duty's own tuning. So I watched a few videos, did some googling and found a couple options I was hoping you all could help me sort out. Though any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. Microphone not a concern as I have my own separate one. Both from Beyerdynamic, the Tygr 300R and the MMX 300. I know that a big difference between the two are open vs closed back. I don't have a particularly loud environment so closed back is not a necessity. My sound card only has the one stereo audio out port which I will probably be keeping my Sennheiser's plugged into. A few things to keep in mind: Will either of these headphones be severely dampened with onboard Realtek audio? If the soundcard would make a big enough difference, any suggestions on a "quick switch" setup of some kind where I can easily switch headphones without giving my PC a reach-around would be awesome. I am not looking for a price-to-performance decision, merely objective directional audio in shooters (other media will be handled by the 6XX) Budget is $300 for the headset (both clearly fall within this, but as previously stated, other suggestions are encouraged Notable mentions Astro A40 +mixamp - I used to own this combo prior to getting the Sennheiser HD 6XX's that grace my ears now. No real complaints from them other than durability and price. They are still a VERY distant 3rd from the aforementioned headsets only because they can occupy the SPDIF on my motherboard and the mix amp eliminates the poor onboard soundcard. However none of the serious reviews I checked out even mentioned these. It seems the general consensus amongst the audiophile gaming community is that if the product is designed with a "gamer-y" aesthetic and marketed towards gamers, they're not that great. Sennheiser PC37x - I only mention them so you won't. I hated them and returned them after a day. Logitech G Pro X - See above ^
  7. Yeah the recent announcements got me wanting to play some FF's that I never played/finished before, hence why they made the list.
  8. Alright so I got a real cluster eff of games here and I can't decide what I want to play. Not looking for suggestions outside this list, but feel free to leave your opinion on why you chose what you chose. Code Vein Doom Eternal Dragon Quest XI Dying Light Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (Already completed the OG) Final Fantasy IX Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Grand Theft Auto V (Story mode) Octopath Traveler
  9. Omg you're right! I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks sir! I'll either wait for the 5000 series APU or see if I can find a cheap used GPU (used market is crazy right now though) for video out.
  10. Unfortunately the 2700 doesn't have integrated graphics and B550 is not compatible with 2000 series and older CPU's.
  11. Gaming on the machine might be something I'd consider for emulated games or older or less graphically intense titles. Though the primary use of this machine would be game streaming. But thanks for the tip about the upcoming 5000 series. I wasn't aware they were releasing APU's for their new lineup.
  12. Hey folks. So brief backstory here (I promise no overly used anime flashbacks): I was lucky enough to win the opportunity to buy an RTX 3080 from the Newegg Shuffle (sign up if you haven't heard, great way to have a chance at a GPU/PS5/Series S/X rather than destroying your F5 key at 6am). However the GPU was in a combo with an Asus ROG Strix B550-F mobo. I was thinking of selling the motherboard, however I have taken a liking to using Steam's Remote Play to stream some lower-intensity games to my living room tv and play in comfort. Before you ask why I am even making this post, there's a situation in my home right now where temporarily, there is an extra PC near the TV so I've been using that as the client PC. But eventually that extra PC will be gone so I was thinking of building a budget rig to stream games. My LAN is fast enough to stream in 4K, however in some games even the 3080 can have trouble encoding the video while simultaneously rendering the game. So sometimes I stream in 1080/1440 and just output in 4k on the client PC. Anyways, with all that in mind, here's what I am asking: I don't know much about CPU requirements for decoding 4K (let's assume worst case scenario here, cuz if it can handle 4k, no problem for lower resolutions) game streams. I was looking at a Ryzen 3400G so I wouldn't have to get a discrete GPU. Would that CPU work well for my use-case? To be clear, I am talking about the client-side PC. I will NOT be pairing the 3080 with this build, that will be the HOST PC, meaning the one that will be rendering and streaming the game to the CLIENT PC which is what I am seeking advice on. Thanks for your time and consideration! PS: At some point I may try Geforce Now as well.
  13. QQ, did ANYONE get one on Amazon? I was mashing f5 like crazy between attempting to even LOAD newegg/Best Buy among others and it always said "Currently unavailable" both before and after 6am PST. So I'd just like to take a quick poll on whether you got the same page or if you actually were able to place an order and add to cart. Curious cuz maybe they are gonna release them later (a boy can hope can't he?) *Nervously laughs*
  14. Thanks for the info! I think it was just a software issue then. I have noticed that HWMonitor has not been updated since comet lake came out. But HWiNFO64 showed the temps!
  15. I'll give it a shot and reply with the results shortly
