  1. The photo is not from my motherboard as it is installed in my computer at the moment. But the stand off is the exact same as the one in the picture. Buying a tap and tapping new treads seems much more work than just replacing it (if it's replaceable, but that I dont know ) The motherboard is a B550 Aorus pro ax. ( https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B550I-AORUS-PRO-AX-rev-10#kf ) Not my picture but this is how it looks. And the stand off is the one next to the ssd heatsink in this picture.
  2. The MB is in the pc at the moment so will have to take it out and look. But from what I remember when putting it all together there was not a screw on the back, however my memory might be wrong.
  3. Yeah thats pretty much what it does. Do you know if it's supposed to just screw out? It was pretty tight when I tried to remove it.
  4. I would like to replace it as I messed up the threads when installing the ssd.
  5. Hello, I was wondering if anyone here has any experince or know if the stand-off screw for my motherboard is removable. I have tried just screwing without success but in fear of breaking it I have not used to much force, I have also searched here and on google but not found anyone suceeding or getting a concrete answer. My motherboard is a Gigabyte B550 Aours Pro Ax. I have included a picture of the same type of stand off as my board uses. Any help is appreciated
  6. Thank you all for your replies! Great to hear what other people have experienced.
  7. Hi, I was just wondering what your experiences are in terms of temp from changing to another more premium thermal paste. Right now I have a paste from a local brand that is similar to the arctic MX-4 but my temps are a bit high imo. I was looking at changing to thermal grizzlys kryonaut after seeing some reviews. But I first wanted to see if any of you have any experience from changing to a more premium paste. What temp difference did you see? I was also looking at the new Phanteks T30, any experiences from fan changes? Right now running a pure wings 2 Highspeed. Right now I'm seeing avg at around 77C and highs at 85C on the die for my 5900X under heavy load. I'm running a be quiet pure loop 120 in my itx case so I'm a little tight on the thermal headroom. Thanks, Tim
  8. Hello, I'm trying to fix my sisters computer. The problem is that "other user" is the only option on the log in screen and when trying to enter her user and password the computer refuses to sign in. I have searched the web and found some other guides but all of them require booting in to safe mode. When I try to boot in to safe mode i get to the part when you choose what you want to boot into (4 for safe mode). After I click 4 the computer boots but when it is done it's like nothing has changed (still only "other user"). I have also tried to enter cmd but to no avail. I have to chose and account, I pick hers and when entering the password it refuses. I can't seem to get past the sign in screen Any tips on how to solve it or is a wipe the only solution? The specs (if the matter) are I5 2500 msi big bang z77 mpower Gtx660 8gb ram 650W psu Any help is appreciated! //Tim
  9. Thank you for the response, he sent me some benchmarks done with the card but I think im gonna pass. Would be really shitty if I got it and it broke 2 weeks after.
  10. Hello, looking at a used 1080ti with a few broken capacitors. The owner says it works fine without them. Can it work without them? He also offerd to run a benchmark to prove that it works, is heaven suitable or do you have another recommendation? Thanks, Tim
  11. Ok thanks for your help, but why would the psu come with both 2x4 and 1x8 pin if you only need one?
  12. Thanks, I was not aware of the optional 6-pin! The psu is an "antec tpn 650xr" and the pc is currently using the solid 8-pin for the cpu with no issues. I find is stange to have the connectors fit in both a PCIe cards and the CPU, would it not lead to many people damaging their components?
  13. Thanks for the responses! Sorry my bad, I mixed up the connectors. The psu has 2x6 pin, 1x8 pin (how do you tell if it is a EPS or a PCIe connector? No markings) and 2x4 pin. The cpu has a 8-pin, the motherboard has a 6 pin and the proposed gpu has 2x8 pin. Is it possible to use the 2x4-pin for the cpu, the 8 pin combined with the 2x6-pins for the gpu and a molex to 6 pin for the MB? It might not be optimal and look like shit but would it work? Or is it just to buy a new psu? Cant tell if the 8-pin is EPS or if it is PCIe so don´t really know, also is it even possible to combine 2x4-pin to a 8-pin?
  14. Hello, I was looking at buying an R9 fury to have while i wait for my new gpu. My plan was to later give it to my sister as an upgrade to her current pc. I have two questions regarding this. Her current set up a i5 2500 and a gtx 660, the psu is a antec 650W unit. Will the psu handle the upgrade or will it crash and burn? Some quick calculations puts the total at some where around 400 W (65+275+some other stuff) My second question is. The psu has a total of 4x4-pin connectors (2x8-pin). The card needs all of them, but the motherboard (a msi z77 bigbang) also need a 4 pin + the 24-pin and the 6-pin cpu. Could I a use all the 4-pins to the gpu and then buy a molex->4-pin adapter for the motherboard or is that a bad idea? Thanks for any answers, Tim
  15. Thanks for the help. Great to hear someone else's experience. I went in to the pbo2 settings and lowered the voltage curve and I managed to get the temps down by 10 C with better performance too.
