  1. it says wake source count - 0 and that was right after putting it to sleep and watching it turn right back on
  2. I was just referring to plugging in the charger.
  3. Hi there, I have a Dell XPS 13 laptop that I purchased about 6 months ago. About every three weeks the laptop will decide it doesn't want to stay off for a day or two. If you put it to sleep or shut it down it just immediately turns back on again. This will persist for a day or two then it will go back to normal. Nothing noticeable seems to be triggering this problem or causing it to stop. This happens both when plugged and unplugged, and I already checked to make sure "wake while plugged in" was turned off in bios. No other bios settings seem out of order. There have been plenty of Dell updates recently so everything should be up to date. I'm hesitant to contact Dell support because I don't want to go through the usual "have you tried restarting your computer? *2 hours later* Oh, everything seems fine we'll have to send you a new laptop. Any help is greatly appreciated!
  4. Thank you everyone for your comments! @Electronics Wizardy @Doramius @dalekphalmThere's still a few things I need cleared up. First of all, my cable box is connected to my TV with HDMI not a coax cable since its high def, and that digital to analog converter needs coax it seems. As far as the road map, I'll go ahead and try connecting the stereo speakers to channel A of the receiver, and the sub to channel B as suggested. From there, what does the receiver connect to? the cable box? Then from there can I still use the HDMI to run everything to the TV? I'll also attach pics of the back of my cable box. Thank you everyone!
  5. So let me start by saying I know very little about home theater equipment. My parents have some very old but nice quality audio equipment that they want to hook up to a new TV and they asked me to help but I'm just as lost as they are. The setup consists of two stereo speakers, a sub, and a receiver. The two stereo speakers have one RCA red/white cable, while the sub just has four connectors of the kind where you wrap the wire around it. The receiver has some RCA plugs and some "screw in the exposed wire" kind of plugs. Lastly, the TV is a brand new Samsung TV so it has your usual HDMI and component inputs. SO, my question is basically what the road map needs to be of what plugs in where. Also do I have to plug everything in through the cable box as well? Do I need to buy any adapters? I have attached pictures of all the plugs on the equipment so you can see exactly what I'm looking at. (the picture with the empty black and red plugs is the sub. Also, not in the pictures is the cable box which has RGB components, Yellow/White/Red components, and HDMI) THANK YOU in advance for any and all help!
  6. So I deleted all the partitions except "primary" which it wouldn't let me delete. The only option was "new" when I selected that partition so I went ahead and clicked that and installed windows onto there. Windows is now up and running again (minus all my files and programs... RIP) except every time I restart it asks me which windows I want to boot to and I have to manually select "volume 2". So the old one is still on here somewhere? How do I get rid of it? I can't format the drive because the OS is on it so it won't let me.
  7. If I delete all the partitions of the SSD, it will only show the partitions of my storage hard drive that I also have in my system. How do I tell it to choose the SSD as the install drive if all the partitions from it are deleted? Thanks @paddy-stone
  8. So my PC recently crashed on me, giving me Hal_initialization_error every time I turn it on. I've tried everything to recover it, but I think I'm going to have to completely reinstall windows. I used my Windows install flash drive and its asking me where to install, but the problem is I already have windows on the SSD, so there's already four drive partitions. Where should I install it so that it overrides the previous windows install? Do I need to delete all those other partitions? I can't actually access windows to do anything with the drive so everything has to be done from the install menu. My four drive partitions are Recovery, System, MSR (Reserved), and Primary. I have an option to either delete or format as well. So basically, my question is which of those four partitions to I do the new install to OR do I have to delete/format them. Thank you!
  9. No memory errors... PSU seems to be fine, and considering this ISN'T only happening at load I don't think that would be the problem.
  10. Update: the PC has now randomly restarted on me as well. Both times while loading games. I assume this is a related issue.
  11. I originally had everything on one HDD, but I moved the OS and apps all to the SSD, so there shouldn't be anything except games and photos etc on the HDD.
  12. Windows 10... I have Norton 360, I don't believe a virus is the cause.
  13. So I built myself a new rig last year... AMD Athlon x4 860k, Gigabyte A88X mobo, 8gb ram, ssd + hdd, corsair psu, sapphire r7 260x, win10 home. For the last six months or so, the pc will sort of freeze up for 10 sec - 2 min at random times, but in kind of a weird way. This isn't a normal "CPU is at 100% or out of memory" freeze. I'll be doing anything from playing games to simply opening the windows start menu, and it'll happen. I'll still be able to move the mouse and click, but when I click buttons they "grey out" and just freeze. For example, I might click the start menu button, it'll freeze, I'll try opening Chrome or another app, then a minute later everything will open at once. The mouse will remain completely unfrozen during this time, and if I'm playing a game, the audio will usually keep running. I'm not getting any weird CPU spikes or high CPU usage normally, but task manager completely freezes when my PC freezes. I have no idea what's wrong! I'm running all the latest drivers, not running overclocks, I have decent-ish hardware, not sure what else to try. Please let me know if you have suggestions or have ever experienced something like this! Thank you!
  14. I just use U-Verse's TV service... whatever box they hooked up is all I use.
