  1. Hi, guys I am looking to buy a new laptop. I would like the screen size to be 16' (14 is too small) the budget is 2000€. The main things that I will do is programming and light gaming when on the go. I would really love a laptop with decent battery and good screen. Ideally I am looking for something with 16:10 2k screen with rtx 4060/4070 upgradable to 32GB of ram. I am trying to decide which one would be the best option.
  2. The manufacturer did not include second cpu cable, so I guess I am just going to plug 8 pins into psu ant 16 pins into motherboard, should work fine. Thanks for the answers.
  3. I understand this, but my situation is as follows. The cpu cable has 2*8 pins. On one end and 1*8 on another end. So I plugged 1*8 to my psu. And I am a little bit confused, what do I do with 2*8 end, do I plug only one 8 pin and leave another one dangling ? Or I plug both of them ? But logically speaking it would provide only 320W anyways.
  4. Thanks that is exactly how I managed to separate them. By looking at the differences between squares and oval-squares. Thanks for the extensive answer. And if you are so knowledgeable could you also clarify, why my cpu cable, has two headers. Is it only for length ? And I leave one hanging after I insert one head ? (My mobo has slots for 2*8).
  5. Yeah I thought I misplaced it but it says in the box only one.
  6. That there is only one cable and I need two But it's not an issue for this topic, it's an issue for gigabyte support.
  7. I did it's not the issue anymore. Well I guess the original question has been solved, so thank you for your answers and your time. But I will have to contact gigabyte support.
  8. Apparently there is no difference between cpu and pci-e cables so yeah. They are pci-e cables but also cpu cables.
  9. Almost. Still one small question remains, if my PSU has 2-3 Slots for CPU power why does it only have one cable. I still have some hope that I can just plug both of the cables to the cpu in the motherboard for 16 pin power. I know it probably is not how it works. SO I assume I need to go out and buy another cpu cable for my setup :? I mean 8 pins will probably be enough but, I will need to buy it if I ever want to upgrade, or overclock. And no markings on the cables is seriously stupid. I already jammed pcie cable into cpu slot, before realizing. I am glad I did not break anything
  10. this is from the manufacturers page:
  11. Cha cha Yes I have the right cable, but I got the sides flipped as I understand the end with two cables is just an extension. For it to be longer. So I think I reversed the sides the two hanging cables go to psu and one side to cpu.
  12. So one of the cable is just left hanging :? I mean When I connect one end to the PSU and another to CPU in motherboard, there are two end's so one is just left hanging ?
  13. That is the thing there is nothing I just took another look it's gigabyte 850UD.... No markings... At all. But Well I figured out it by taking a very good look at the pin themselves, but I am still not sure how connect it to the psu and mobo.
  14. Hey guys, dumb question. It was my first time using a modular PSU. And what weirded me out is that pcie cable and cpu has no markings and are exactly the same... the only way I was able to tell them apart was by looking is it connected of 4+4 or 6+2 (by little indent).... So first question, maybe you guys know how to differentiate these cables ? And second one. My Motherboard has 16 pins (2*8) on the motherboard, and the cpu cable is 8 at one side and 2+8 on another side, how do I even connect it ? Two at psu ant one at cpu or 2 at motherboard and one at psu ? Or I just leave one hanging and I connect 2 cpu cables :?
  15. Sorry might not been clear enough. I said that I don't intend to use 8k at 60 fps meaning that I don't need the most powerful hardware. Also as much as I love Asus motherboards from all the reviews, they mention that for am5 they are quite bad Everything else seems more or less fine.
  16. Thiis a decent build thanks. It's not the only reason I am going with AM5 just one of the reasons. I had a trough look trough the parts and they seem fine, will have them as part of my considerations.
  17. Budget (including currency): No strict limit, but let's say 2000€ for now Country: Lithuania Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Visual Studio, Humankind, Other Other details: I am building a desktop and upgrading from an aging laptop. I Intend to use 2k Monitor. So far I bought Corair 4000D Airflow and gigabyte UD850gm Hello, so I am slowly building my desktop trying to figure out best parts for the build. As mentioned before I got couple of parts based on price and recommendations. The money is not an issue, but I am not trying to run everything at 8k 60+fps I usually don't play extreme games that require top of the end hardware and if they do I don't mind playing at 45 (don't want to have less than 45) fps. What I need right now is a good motherboard cpu ram combo idea. I am highly leaning towards AM5 platform since being able to upgrade is a very important thing for me. Gaming is also not the primary focus. Any suggestions would be recommended. And since I can still return my previously bought parts if you think that I bought horrible items you can also express your opinion with a reason why they are not the best fit.
  18. You are buying a cheap GPU and a very expensive motherboard ? I would suggest getting a better GPU if you want to play some 3xA games

    amd

It quite clearly says that you need the GPU installed to redeem the code.
  20. The 13th gen intel CPU is fine, but expect to have no upgrade path. When you want to upgrade your setup in few years you will have to get new motherboard and CPU maybe even new ram. The parts seems all right, but Why spend so much on the motherboard. Maybe get a cheaper motherboard and bump it up to rtx 3070 if that is an option. Or you can get a used one. Also there is Rx 6*** series they offer performance at and above 3070 level for lower prices.
  21. It would be very weird if it requires bios update, unless it's a prebuilt with some kind of Lenovo motherboard, then it might be an issue. If it's a pc with a normal motherboard you shouldn't need a bios update. But if it's throwing errors you can just update the bios, these days it's as simple as downloading a program and clicking next.
  22. Hmmm okay so it's not that. Since some DirectX12 games seem to be running and some don't it seems like games themselves somehow got corrupted. If you have fast internet you could just reinstall the games themselves. And see if it helps, also check for windows updates. If nothing helps I think it would be faster to move important files to D drive, and reinstall windows. Since troubleshooting it might take days/weeks and reinstalling windows would take 30 minutes. Then reinstalling the programs would take a few hours.
  23. 1. Firewalls in cheap routers are usually quite bad, but they are enough. Think Window's defender it's not great but it does it's job. I did not check the statistics, but I am pretty sure that 99% of all breaks in happen because of your own mistakes.... Not upgrading your programs.... There are a lot of exploits that get patched, but are easily exploitable and even widely known few months after they are discovered. Just keep your stuff up to date. Or the most common way of getting infected is just downloading unsafe files. I can promise you that if you are not some big tech company or some big shot nobody, will try to break into your computer trough your router firewall etc... To answer all your other questions in bulk: Nobody is trying to get you. If you don't visit sketchy sites don't download everything without checking most likely nobody is going to try to get access to your network. I mean what's the point of doing that ? Even if I could do it easily I wouldn't since, I would gain nothing from it. Best resources are cyber security courses. Since they teach you general stuff too, so you are safe. It's easy to have firewall etc, but then miss a stupid thing, like having a port open that allows someone to just easily connect and get access (it's just an example). I know it's not very informative, but the above dude was also right. Don't take shortcuts it helps attackers too, but again nobody would bother. Unless it's a mass malware, but you install them yourself.
  24. I don't see the point of this question. If you will play the game either way. Just buy it, and try it out if does not work, wait for your GPU and play it then if works - great. Most likely it won't work..
