  1. Thanks for the reply! Why the 5950x over the 5800x3d? Its about $140 CAD more. I probably should have mentioned I'm upgrading purely for a gaming performance improvement, the 3700X I have now does everything else I need it to do well enough.
  2. Hi, I've been looking to upgrade my system for a while now, and I just came across a fairly good deal on a brand new EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 ULTRA for $1189 CAD (~$865 USD) and jumped on it right away. I'm looking for a CPU upgrade, but unsure on which route to go. Should I consider AMD Ryzen 7000 series or Intel 13th Gen? Or would the 5800x3d be the best option? My motherboard (ASRock X370 Killer SLI/ac) supposedly supports it with a bios update however it has been nothing but problems for me - I still haven't managed to get my memory past 2666MHz. - Located in Canada. - Monitor is 1440p 165Hz. - Not limited by any budget but still looking for decent value. I'm willing to upgrade other parts as necessary. - Will be used primarily for gaming (for example: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, Escape from Tarkov, Anno 1800, Heavily modded Skyrim/Fallout 4/GTA V) but I appreciate having a bit extra to work with for heavy multitasking and the occasional productivity (video/photo editing). Current System Specifications: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock 3 Motherboard: ASRock X370 KILLER SLI/ac RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB 3200MHz GPU: MSI GAMING X TRIO GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Case: Phanteks Eclipse P400S PSU: Corsair HX750i 750W Side note, do you think my current PSU (Corsair HX750i) will be enough for the RTX 3090 and CPU upgrade? Thank you!
  3. Budget (including currency): $1200 CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming (Overwatch, Apex Legends, Titanfall 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Call of Duty, Final Fantasy, etc.) Other details: I'm putting together a new system for a family member and I'm looking for some feedback and suggestions as I haven't been following the latest hardware as closely as I used to. She is currently running pretty old hardware - an AMD FX 8350 and GTX 750 ti. The only thing we're looking to reuse is the power supply as it is the newest part of the system (EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2). Already have peripherals and using a 1080p monitor. Below is what I was thinking, but feel free to give suggestions or totally different ideas. 4. If you read the original post, the 1650 was purchased for $320, not $600. Still absurdly overpriced, but not much you can do about that these days. That price is a mistake on PCPartpicker. If you click on them, you can see that the 500GB version costs around $80 USD while the 1TB version is around $145 USD. There is nothing wrong with having a 500GB drive for Windows, and a 1TB for storage, or vice versa. Looks like a pretty good build to me. I'm not sure how great the airflow on that case is, but for the sake of matching parts and personal preference, nothing really wrong with that as long as your thermals are good. I can't really find anything to criticize.
  5. I don't believe this is the issue as I have tried switching to Wifi and the exact same problem still occurs. Thanks though!
  6. I don't, and the only anti-virus I'm running is Windows defender. Thanks for the help. Unfortunately I don't have any spare drives laying around to boot from, so that might be out of the question. I tried reinstalling my drivers - I'll wait to see if that made a difference. If nothing else comes up I'll probably try reinstalling Windows, it's about time I do anyway.
  7. I've been experiencing a strange internet problem over the last couple of months, and as of late it has gotten especially bad. At random times throughout the day, my internet speeds will drop so low that I immediately lose connection to whatever I'm doing, whether it be gaming, in a discord call, streaming a movie, etc. My internet connection has never dropped entirely. The internet tends to "go out" for around 2-5 minutes, and this happens at least 10 times a day. I'm running on a wired Ethernet connection straight from my router to my PC. My internet package is 600 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload, and I'm getting this no problem 24/7, except for when this anomaly occurs. Several dozen times now, I've run a speedtest while this occurs and it's reporting my download at only ~10-15 Mbps and upload less then 10 Mbps. Here's where things get extra weird though. I tried running a speedtest while this occurs on another wired Ethernet PC simultaneously, and the speeds reported on there were exactly what I'm paying for (600 up, 20 down) while my own PC still reports those very low numbers. I've hit a bit of a dead end here on what could be causing it. I have contacted my ISP a couple of times now, with no luck in finding a solution. They have finally suggested sending somebody out here to take a look in about a week, but I'm still not entirely sure whether it's a problem on their end or my end. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. EDIT: I've also tried switching to Wifi, same issue occurs.
  8. If you were shipped the wrong item, the first thing you should do is contact the retailer/seller you bought it from. Their refund policy is irrelevant.
  9. This is perfectly normal and nothing has changed. Many programs are designed to be 32-bit because 64-bit simply isn't necessary and it allows for greater compatibility for anyone that may still need it. This is completely unrelated to why you might have high ping, and task manager won't help you figure that out either. Your ping will fluctuate depending on countless different factors. Unless your ping is consistently awful across all of your games, it is probably also normal.
  10. I've done some pretty extensive research on those two, and they both seem like pretty solid picks and I will definitely keep them in mind. The MMX 300 is out of my budget though, and it sounds like the GSP 600 is a bit on the bulky side and the sound quality isn't quite worth the price. Here's an interesting idea I came across on the forums here. What do you think of picking up the DT 770 Pros along with a ModMic 5? Thanks again for the help!
  11. Regarding wired or wireless, I prefer wired for the sake of less latency and not having to worry about charging it all the time.
  12. Whoops! I think you might misunderstand me. I'm not into producing videos and music. I've edited my original post to be more clear. Sorry about that, I really do appreciate the effort you put into helping me out here though.
  13. The microphone will just be used for communication purposes, so that probably isn't necessary. I would prefer something that sounds decent though.
  14. I've been using the Sennheiser Game Zero for the last 6 years (although I've been through 2 or 3 warranty replacements) and they're now on their last leg. I'm looking for something new but I'm not sure what. They will be used primarily for gaming but also for general computing (listening to music, videos, etc). I will also need a microphone, whether it be in the form of a headset or purchased separately - I don't know what the best option is here. Budget is $350 CAD. Looking for closed-back. Thanks!
