  1. He has 16 ddr3, 1tb hdd, 256ssd, and that motherboard. I think the vast majority is gonna be spent on the CPU and gpu since we can get a good case for 50 and ps for about 50 as well, and of course windows but that's not included in price since he can just grab it off an old pc he has.
  2. Hello all! my buddy is looking at spending around $800 us on building himself a new computer for editing and gaming. He already has a few parts (ram, ssd, hdd, motherboard. He currently has a lga 1150 board (Gigabyte - GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard) I'm not sure what the best CPU for this model will be. I think we can build him a damn good pc for this price but I don't know whether to go i5,i7, or even Xeon (had no idea this was even an option on this board but apparently it is!?). any help would be greatly appreciated thank you
  3. Isn't the cheapest Ryzen going to be $300+?
  4. Side note I should've added, I'm only doing 1080 gaming and maybe some recording.
  5. Hello all! So after some time I am officially ready to pull the trigger this weekend with the Presidents' Day deals going on, I don't have a massive budget (would prefer to stay at the $500-$600 us range) but my old gaming laptop just won't run anything anymore. Any chance you could help me with parts? I was thinking the 1060 but it seems everyone says the 480 is much better. I would also like to go intel for the CPU preferably the i5. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  6. I like the computers I see but it's $200 more for the same specs
  7. Hello all! So I finally convinced my dad to switch from console to pc but he wants nothing to do with building so I've been helping him look at pre builts. Currently I thought that the Asus ROG g20cb (https://m.newegg.com/product/index?itemnumber=N82E16883221296) due to Linus' review. That said he was looking at cyberpowers (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gamer-supreme-liquid-cooled-desktop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1070-120gb-ssd-2tb-hdd-black-blue/5374303.p?skuId=5374303). I get that the cyberpowers technically a better pc but I know nothing of cyberpowers pc's. Any recommendations for a prebuilt that might be better for around the same price (1400)? Or is one of these gonna be the best he'll be able to find? Main purpose is general tripple A games and VR.
  8. Thank you everyone for your replies! I was thinking of going with the Gtx 1060 3gb and I was rock solid on it until my last thread gave me some doubt as to whether the rx480 would be a massive upgrade.
  9. Hi all! So I'm building my first computer and I've gotten a crap ton of help from everyone on the forum so thank you! I think I have the mass majority of what I can afford, but I'm really stuck between the i3 and the i5, I know the i5 will work better for gaming and workstation tasks, but for gaming specifically does the performance boost justify the extra $60.00?
  10. I was thinking the best option would be a 3gb 1060, I know it's only a small step above the 1050Ti but I do use some workstation tasks, I also want the best FPS per $ and from what i've seen it just barely edges out the AMD option. I was stuck between the two for quite awhile but have finally decided on using the 1060.
  11. Hi all! So I posted a question awhile back about building my little sister a PC (I can't wait to see her face), and I was looking at building something for myself as well but finally decided against it. Now my computer keeps crashing when playing some games and I definitely need an upgrade! The build someone posted on my last thread fit perfectly but sadly the parts have gone up by $200! I'm looking at spending between $500-$600; I know I definitely want a GTX 1060, but beyond that i'm pretty open as long as it has an i5. I don't know quite enough to pick these parts out myself and would greatly appreciate your help!
  12. Sorry for the delayed response, you guys are awesome!
  13. Ya I was thinking of building 2 computers, one for my little sister and then one for myself as all I have currently is a gaming laptop.
  14. After looking things over I may build one for myself it would be a massive upgrade haha. I think I could spare an extra $100 on my own computer, what would everyone recommend to upgrade? I was thinking a different motherboard, maybe this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1N83V60512&cm_re=LGA_1151-_-13-130-897-_-Product but i really have no idea if that would be worth it.
  15. Thank you for everyone's help you guy's are lifesavers!
