  1. I have my computer on a UPS, which logs and reports power usage. Below is the report during the COVID folding event. Which is a 3900X with two 1070s. But as others have said, to find your cost per hour use this: ((System Power Usage in Watts)/1000)*Cost per kWH Multiply that by however many hours you're folding to find out how much it would cost. If you don't know how much power your computer takes, you can estimate that with the calculator here: https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator I've found the load wattage the calculator spits out to be reasonably accurate.
  2. These work server issue are annoying. Can't even get the completed work submitted.
  3. How are the g4dn.xlarge instances doing? I spun up a P3.2xlarge spot instance which is registering about 3.5-4m PPD on the Telsa V100 at $1.05/hr. Haven't paid attention to what the CPU is doing. Let us know how the g4dn.2xlarge does!
  4. Me just now: "Huh, the room seems rather quiet" *looks at control panel* "No work units!? This is unacceptable!"
  5. Yeah, the round peg is the earth. A number of devices do have it, but not everything. The ones that don't are supposed to be double insulated, so a seperate ground isn't supposed to be as necessary. But I still prefer it when they are solidly grounded. I definelty think the UK socket is a better socket.
  6. Definitely. We should probably try to keep support type questions in their own threads, and leave this for more general discussion. But we're probably too far down the rabbit hole at this point
  7. That's very true. Fortunately my two dell monitors can, so my setup is ready for 240V. Unfortunately, I don't see 240V becoming common any time soon. But 20A certainly could be and I would like it to.
  8. You can. That's what my wall mounted air conditioners use. It just uses a different type of breaker (the wider ones that look like they have two handles linked together) and is wired a little differently. It also uses a different shaped plug to keep you from plugging 120V devices into 240V. Both 120V and 240V can be 20A circuits. Personally I wish more houses in the US used 20A circuits. It's basically the standard in commercial but only 15A in residential. Edit: The 15A 240V plug with 20A 240V socket
  9. I have the same problem. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to be able to add new circuits at the moment. However, my loads were definitely too high for one. So I rearranged some of the loads this morning to balance things out. Unfortunately this means running an extension cord across the room to get to the other circuit. 240V would have definelty solved the issue. But oh well, I only need this solution to work for a couple weeks.
  10. And I thought my old machine was bad. I bow to you sir. That's an impressive hackjob!
  11. I've been renting a V100 GPU from AWS and this is the first work unit it has completed. So that makes me feel a bit better knowing it's not just me. But at the same time it's not making me feel very good knowing that I'm paying to rent this GPU but loosing out on some of the points because of it. Edit: Just as I say that, the upload completes. I'm happy again, lol.
  12. I'm getting an error when trying to upload a completed work unit back to collections server: 05:14:53:WU01:FS01:Trying to send results to collection server 05:14:53:WU01:FS01:Uploading 23.15MiB to 155.247.164.213 05:14:53:WU01:FS01:Connecting to 155.247.164.213:8080 05:14:53:WARNING:WU01:FS01:WorkServer connection failed on port 8080 trying 80 05:14:53:WU01:FS01:Connecting to 155.247.164.213:80 05:14:53:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Exception: Failed to connect to 155.247.164.213:80: Connection refused Has anyone else been seeing this issue? I know the servers have been hammered lately, but I want to make sure it's not on my end.
