"My main goal is to get a list and some knowledge down before black friday and cyber monday hit.
Uses for computer will focus on music. I use studio one as my DAW. I will want to be able to edit 4k videos on this machine, but would like to keep cost of video card low if possible because I won't be doing video very often.
My budget will peak near 2,000 US$ assuming I can save a few hundred here and there with sales. Future expansion is a huge plus for me, so if you can convince me to get quality stuff, I'll pay forward for it. If it goes a little over 2000, thats ok."
So I posted something similar to this on PCPARTPICKER without too much luck because it seems like 90% of builders are focused on gaming. Don't include a monitor in the build, but keep and mind that I want to run 3440x1440.
After doing more research, I think my focus should be on the MOBO and Processor to be future proof. MOBO: 2 slots for video cards, capable of running 64 GB RAM, firewire or any other ports that would helpful. I'm assuming I'll want an I7 processor. RAM for the time being 32 GB should be fine? The case is important too of course, Ive considered the be quiet 600 and the fractal designs R5, but would consider anything. It can be large if it helps. As for the video card, people have recommended the Geforce 1070, but thats as spendy as I would like to get if possible. something cheaper would be nice to focus on other key components, but I'm not sure how the ultra wide and wanting 4k capabilities will affect things. Dont worry about keyboard and mouse and I'm upgrading from an old laptop BTW.
Hopefully this is comprehensive and I look forward to any input.
