  1. Here is a list of HDD prices for anyone not in Australia if that helps recommend either 2, 3 or 4TB and WD, Seagate or HGST. So the rumor about 3TB drives having really high failure rates compared to other sizes isn't true?
  2. Thanks for the replies, I think what I'll be doing is keeping my 2TB Barracuda for all my non-essential programs and getting a new 2-4TB drive as a mass storage drive for files so a WD Green was definitely something I was considering. Are the 3TB WD Green's alright? I've heard so many bad things about 3TB drives and I just wasn't sure if that issue has been fixed
  3. Hey guys in my current rig I'm just running an Intel 520 120GB SSD as a boot drive with a few important programs on there too and a 2TB Seagate Barracuda storage drive. My 2TB is almost full so I'm looking for a new 2TB-4TB storage drive and likely a 500GB SSD to go with it since I'll move my games over to that finally. My main question is.... For 2-4TB HDDs which manufacturer is currently most highly regarded, I know some people hate Seagate and say they have ludicrous failure rates but mines been perfect for the last however many years. I've also been hearing that I should stay away from 3TB drives? Is this still true? If so that's unfortunate since they seem to be a bargain. For SSDs I'm not really sure where to start, the 850 EVO seems to be the go to option for a value 250 or 500GB drive is this still one of the best options? Thanks!
  4. I completely agree that buying a top of the line single GPU now (980Ti or Fury X/Pro/Fire/Water/whatever) and then upgrading to a better single GPU in the future (1180Ti or Fury X3 for example but let's hope both change their naming schemes ) is a better option I was just pointing at what the other guy was saying. Buying a 980Ti now and buying another one in 6-9 months isn't as awful as you made it sound.
  5. No his logic is fine. What he's saying is buy a 980Ti now instead of SLi 970s because down the road you can buy another 980Ti for cheap and extend the longevity of your system by a ton. If he goes with 970s he won't be able to do the same thing since he'll have to buy a third 970s which has poor scaling and would be super hot. I'm an AMD fan (my past 4 cards have been AMD) but seriously, there has to be a point where you stop being a fanboy and start offering real advice. This is a worse option and you know it. That card is super inefficient and it may perform better than 980Ti for now but spotty crossfire, old architecture and the possibility that OP doesn't want to take up space with the water cooling just isn't worth it. If he's buying now, a 980Ti is the best option, if he's buying in a month time, AMD MIGHT have a new card worth considering but my money is on the 980Ti still being the card to buy.
  6. So most of you think something like Kaspersky or BitDefender isn't at all worth it?
  7. I was just wondering what everyone's opinions were on the best paid anti-virus software at the moment? I have about a month left on my Bitdefender Total and also use malware bytes obviously but just wanted to see what people are regarding as the best at the moment if I do end up going paid again? Bitdefender, Kasperky, Norton, McAfee or something else entirely? Cheers! Also do you have an online website that you tend to go to for deals on anti-virus since there seems to be some crazy deals to be had
  8. I love my M7 so much and loved my Legend before it. HTC has always been such a compelling underdog with unique features and positive aspects to me. However, I won't be getting an M9. Even though the M7 is two years old now I just don't have enough reason to get the M9 and I think I'll be heading towards the Galaxy S6 as much I used to despise Samsung phones in the past. The S6 is just beautiful and is a worthy upgrade from an M7.
  9. I'm a huge HTC fan and was really excited for the M9 because I was reading the specs how they made sense just like you're doing. Unfortunately, now that official reviews are out (even with the newest software update) the M9 battery is quite a lot worse than the M8 and the CPU has been underclocked from 2.0Ghz to 1.5Ghz (which is why the more recent benchmark scores have fallen). The camera is decent but can be pretty noisy even in ideal circumstances. As for the screen, the colour gamut and delta e are both worse than the M8. I wanted an M9 really bad (coming from M7) but after reading all this I'm thinking of doing something I never thought I'd do..... going to Samsung I guess we'll have to wait for MKBHD's review to get a more unbiased and indepth opinion than most.
  10. I also agree however the $400 was the absolute max limit mainly to stop people recommending Herman Miller chairs or something in that league which are usually $1K plus and there are plenty of people who feel that cost is justified and for some it may be worth it. I would pay a premium for looks but it wouldn't be much maybe $50 or less. But there are other factors that come into it more than just comfort and fit of the chair. I know you mentioned features but the combination of comfort and features is quite hard to find in a lot of run of the mill office chairs and also a huge factor is durability and longevity. This is something I always consider for something that I use daily for example when I bought headphones recently or when I'm looking to buy a TV. If a chair is going to be comfortable for a year and then either fall apart or start to degrade significantly but costs $200 and something like the dxracer is $300 and could potentially maintain comfort for a few years then the premium is absolutely justifiable. That's the main reason I wanted to get a lot of different recommendations and have a discussion
  11. I'm looking for a new PC Chair and don't really know of too many of the good choices in this price range. Something like a Hermon Miller Aeron or Embody or Haworth Zody would be great but unfortunately out of my price range. My budget is probably around $400. Some of my friends have highly recommended DXRacer chairs so I thought I'd ask for some opinion of them on here as well. I'm 190cm (6'3) and only about 75kg (165lbs) if that helps with any recommendations. For the DXRacers if there is anyone who does like them would you be able to tell me the difference between the models? Mainly the difference between F Series and R Series because the R Series seems more fit for taller people but idk if there's much else different. Any chair recommendations would be good though I'm not really worried about the brand I'd just like a few varied choices. Cheers
  12. I completely agree with Captain Chaos but I also wanted to add one thing. I personally buy my favourite TV Series and movies on Blu-Ray but at the moment if you compare pirating movies and TV shows to a service such as Netflix (also not available in Australia which is where I live) and Blu-Rays/DVDs then it would be clear that having files in an External HDD can be so much handier. Constantly streaming on Netflix uses up so much bandwidth if you're like me and rewatch TV series heaps of times and when it comes to Blu-Ray you could have 4-6 discs per season and have 10 seasons so having all 10 seasons and every episode all in one place without needing to change disk deal with BS menus. I know Victorious Secret is being all righteous and yes it is always better to buy thing you like or are going to use continually but the truth is at the moment there is no BETTER alternative for SOME things. If I could pay a subscription or a reasonable fee per file to be able to legally torrent TV Series and get the money to go to the owners that would be amazing. Same thing goes for things previously mentioned such as FLAC files.
  13. So I've really looked into a lot of these now and I'm still having quite a hard time choosing between DT770 80 Ohm, A900X, AD900X, K702, HD598 and Fidelio X1. Is there any of these that really stand out for the price? I'm definitely looking for some that have cups that aren't so shallow and bigger would be nice too. Is the DT770 one of the better choices in this list and is a decent improvement in SQ and comfort over the M50?
  14. Sorry about that I should have provided more info I intend to use these for both listening to music and for gaming. When it comes to sound signature I like headphones with good bass but obviously not so extreme that mids and highs turn to crap. In terms of music genre I like to listen to a large variety of different genres so a good all-round pair of headphones would be great. You recommended the AD900X which are the open backs correct? I'm guessing the A900X is the closed back variant? Also I live in Australia so it's a little harder than America and Europe to audition headphones but I'll trial as many as I can. Are the A900X a big upgrade from the M50s in terms of sound quality and overall comfort? because I really want something quite substancially more comfortable than my M50s. Because of Blue Snowballs being $100 here, AD900X being $250 and A900X being $300 I'll likely be buying from US Amazon and just shipping them here because it will still save me a ridiculous amount even after international shipping. Thanks for the recommendations I've heard good things about the 558s,598s and DT770s but I'll take a look at all the rest. Hopefully some of what I've added helps.
  15. I currently have a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50s and a crappy Zalman Clip on mic. I'm looking at upgrading both and I needed some opinions. The max I'd likely spend is probably around $300. Option 1 is a Blue Snowball + a ~$200 pair of headphones Option 2 is a Headset (something like Audio-Technica ATH-AG1 or ATH-ADG1) I know the M50s are meant to be good headphones and they have lasted really well and sound quite good but I just can't have them on my head for extended periods of time (even with velour replacement pads). After maybe an hour or so the cups hurt my ears and just get quite uncomfortable. Any recommendations would be a great help, Cheers!
