  1. Thanks for that man. It's weird how hdmi onky does 60Hz and an old dvi does 144Hz anyway awesome.
  2. Thanks for the replies. Yeh it's not for running at 144fps now It's more like I'm trying to futureproof myself. If I run 40-70fps that's good enough for now. My main concern was, woukd it be possible to run 144Hz with that dvi-d plus display ports. BTW that's my current build so yeh been a triple monitor member for a while but thanks mate.
  3. Hey guys so the plan is to get a gtx 1080 strix and 3 1080p 144hz monitors. eventually down the line buy another one to sli them. now 144hz can only work through display port but the card has only 2 display ports and 2 hdmi ports and a div-d I think dvi-d can output 144hz. But if I run 2 monitors on display port and one on Dvi-d will Nvidia surround let me run 144hz on all monitors... Thanks in advance i apologise for the bad grammar and punctuation lol
  4. Thanks for the reply mate. Appreciate it. Yeh nvidia has confirmed that running 3 in surround and having ONE accessory monitor is possible. I hope that it's possible to have 3 accessory displays. Without the gpu driver blacking out 2 of the 3 accessory displays. I emailed nvidia regarding this Because I don't want to spend $1000 on a gpu and then find out I can't do it. That would be disastrous. No reply as yet. Not surprised really. But you have given me confidence that it may just work
  5. Ok guys play nice lol It's common knowledge that price to performance ratio goes, nvidia is slightly overpriced. HOWEVER, if you buy and ROG Strix Rx 480 or ROG Strix gtx 1080 the quality of components would be more or less the same. My current rig has 2x r9 290 and one r9 240. AMD Is great for multiple monitors but Gync support in surround is what I'm after. At the moment I get lots of screen tearing. Anyway back to my original question So it's is possible to run nvidia surround off one card(1080) and use a second card(970) to Run 3 additional monitors?
  6. yeh only reason i want to go gtx 1080 is because im getting 3 X ROG swift with gync and gync is now supported in surround as freesync isnt and i doubt it will be.
  7. ive seen a guy run GTX 770 in surround and a GTX 260 to run TWO additonal displays. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1jfSS7MgmY i hope running 3 is possible. then im back on team green
  8. Is it possible to run say - GTX 1080 running surround 5760 x 1080 and at the same time a ; GTX 970 running 3 auxiliary displays ????
  9. yeh thanks for the reply. yeh the intention is to eventually run GTX 1080 strix in sli but its expensive so one at a time. as for the game, yeh the instrument panels can pop out and are like small windows that can be placed anywhere. as long as i can set up either - 1) Surround 5760 x 1080 and 3 auxiliary monitors OR 2) Just set up 3 monitors as ONE display at 5760 x 1080 and have the other 3 allocated around it. the only reason i went with amd 3 yrs ago was because of eyefinity. I want to go back to nvidia but yeh, need to make sure i can do this first.
  10. hey guys, il try to keep this as simple as possible. im running 6 monitors for a flight sim in eyefinity. 2x R9 290 and 1x R9 240 3 monitors at 5760 x 1080 ( set up as one display group) 3 auxiliary monitors to display instruments. Can this be on on Nvidia ? i really want a gtx 1080 (even a gtx 960 to run the 3 auxiliary monitors ) but if it cant do this then il just wait for the AMD vega 10 series to ocme out. From what i can gather Nvidia Surround can run 3 monitors and only one more as an accessory display. OR if i dont run Nvidia Surround can i just set up the 3 monitors at 5760 x 1080 and have the other 3 on their own. IF the desktop resolution of the primary monitor is 5760 x 1080p then the game lets me select that resolution in-game. i know this is complicated but any insight would be much appreciated. cheers
  11. Yeh 780ti is a very powerful card Keep in mind 2550x1440x1.15= ~4.2million pixels 5760x1080= ~6.2million pixels Hopefully when the gtx 880 comes out we can SLI those lol
  12. Thanks for that mate. I'm not bottlenecking as far as I can tell At the moment in crossfire 290's The cpu usage hovers between 60-90% will gpu's Are at 90-100%. I've never had AMD cards before and I'm cautious before Trying anything new lol
  13. Not unhappy just expected better performance for crossfired 290's. BF4 5760x1080p o. Ultra (AA off) I get 50-80 fps depending on the map And all that. I expected better so I thought adding one more 290 would keep it from Dropping under 60fps.
  14. I have a crossfired r9 290 runnin Bf4maxed out (AA off)on 1080p surround And I get 50-80 fps depending on the map and explosions and what not. So I figured one more will keep it dropping under 60fps. Surround 4k is tempting but Gotta wait for the price to drop abit and I don't think even 3 r9 290 overclocked will be able to Run surround 4k.
  15. This may sound stupid but it's something I've always wondered but can fond the answer to. What will get better performance 3x r9 290 3x 1080p monitors 1) connect one card per screen (crossfire disabled). OR 2) running trifire for 3 screens
