TheArkaTek's Achievements

  1. I manage a Code Ninjas(We teach kids how to code by making video games). I want to set up the laptops we have so they can play steam games and play stuff like TF2 or brawlhalla with each other at events. Should I set up each laptop with its own account? Should I try to get a PC Cafe Account? Should each account have its own email attached? Should I make multiple accounts with the same email? What do you guys think would be the best way to get all the laptops set up in a way so that kids could play together?
  2. I've recently become in charge of my Boys and Girls Club Technology Center and they have a smartboard here that I'm free to use as I like. I've already set-up Osu! on it and it works perfectly. This lead me to think, the Smart Board is basically a giant tablet, so what are some other good games I could play on it? Preferably appropriate for all ages.
  3. My ideal setup would let me have the best of both worlds. I'd get to have this monitor for gaming which runs at: 1080p 144hz https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-XG2402-FreeSync-Monitor-DisplayPort/dp/B075D1B4SV/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1535075415&sr=8-5&keywords=1080p+144hz and then this monitor for content creation which runs at: 1440p 60hz https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-BL2711U-27-Inch-Monitor-LED-Lit/dp/B01K1INYWG/?th=1&tag=linus21-20 But alas I have but one graphics card. My respectable RX 580. Will I have a problem running both monitors at their respective resolutions and refresh rates? If so, are there fixes? I've searched around but haven't seen anything super conclusive.
  4. This is my current setup: CPU AMD Phenom II X4 945 Motherboard ASUSTeK M4A785TD-V EVO(AM3) I will be moving over to this: CPU Intel Core i5 6600K 3.50 GHz Quad Core Skylake Desktop Processor, Socket LGA 1151, 6MB Cache (BX80662I56600K) Motherboard ASUS Z170-A ATX DDR4 How do successfully make the transition? Drivers and moving over my copy of windows 10 and whatnot.
  5. Okay I looked around and this looks promising, a Core i5-6500 and a MSI B150 Gaming M3 ATX LGA115 board. Maybe I should go cheaper on the CPU get a Core i3-6100 with the same motherboard and get a decent case. Honestly though I'm okay with the case I have now. It's definitely old but I don't really have a problem with it. I will replace it eventually though. Maybe a CPU cooler instead? I'm pretty intrigued by the AIO water cooling solutions.
  6. Here's the current system System CPU 3.0 GHz AMD Phenom II X4 945 Motherboard ASUSTeK M4A785TD-V EVO(AM3) RAM 12 GB DDR3 669 MHz GPU 2 GB AMD Radeon HD 7870 Case Cooler Master Sniper Mid Tower Storage 260 GB SSD, 1 TB Western Digital Hard Drive, 500 GB Seagate Hard Drive PSU Corsair TX 650W Display(s) 1080p 60hz Samsung and AOC Cooling Stock AMD CPU Cooler, 140 mm fan up top and in front of case Keyboard generic Mouse generic Operating System Windows 7 I'd really like help figuring out a good upgrade path to turn this into a beast. The motherboard and cpu are showing their age and the stock cooler has trouble keeping it cool under load. Even the RAM is clocked pretty low from what I understand. I work part time and bring in about 600 a month, about 200 of which I can put away. With cyber monday/Christmas sales coming up I'd love to cash in on some really good deals. You'r wisdom is appreciated. The computer components are important but a good sound system/pair of headphones, and peripherals in general are gonna become more important as time goes on. I'm in the US if that's important. I'm a CS major and I like messing around with all sorts of content creation software. Blender, LMMS, Unreal, programming IDEs, video editing, photo editing, stuff like that.
  7. I totally want the Razer Blade 14. It'd be an awesome daily driver for school and would use it when I'm simulating routers and switches and whatnot. Studying for the CCNA and GNS3 really taxes my current 2011 Macbook Air.
