  1. I would, but unfortunately there are cases online of devils canyon not working with my motherboard despite updating the BIOS. Biostar z87x 3d.
  2. Hey guys. My trusty 4670k just isn't cutting it anymore. It really bottlenecks my 1070 badly in BF1 64p conquest. All four cores peg at 100% usage while the 1070 sometimes dips as low as 70% usage. I know 64p BF1 really likes more than 4 threads so enter the idea of upgrading. However, DDR4 prices are currently insane and there's no relief in sight. So if I were to go 7700k I would end up having to fork over around $600 just to get a smoother experience in one game that's extremely CPU demanding. Yes, it could in other games and future games. But seems like a huge investment for not a lot of return. So, what about just grabbing a used 4770k off ebay? I can find them for around $200 to $250 easily. Seems like a better idea with the current prices and I don't have to buy other components for the upgrade. Would it be worth it? What would you do in my shoes? Any other ideas? Not really interested in ryzen or coffee lake because it would around $500 to $600 for a small improvement as well.
  3. So all these reviewers seem to be having gaming issues. How come Joker didn't? I'm assuming he bought his instead of using a press edition part. Maybe that's it, maybe it's the motherboards. I don't know, but his overclocked 1700 kept up with a 7700k at 5ghz. So something is wrong here.
  4. I'd buy it, test it and return it if it had coil whine.
  5. I think I might go down to a local store and keep picking until I get a card without whine. I got a good from Jet.com, but I'm willing to pay an extra $50 at this point to get a whine free card.
  6. What other issues? I think I might try to return it ASAP instead of dealing with it or trying to "fix it"
  7. Yep, I know all about it now. I've tried running some benchmarks for 24 hours and I think it's gotten a little bit quieter but I have to return the card within 30 days. What happens if I keep it hoping it will go away after time and it never does and I have buyers remorse forever?
  8. Got my new 1070 on Tuesday, upgraded from an R9 290. The 290 used to coil whine just a little bit when at 100% load, it was completely bearable though and it didn't bother me. I installed my 1070 and in firing up some games with unlocked framerates and benchmarks I noticed terrible terrible coil whine, like really really loud. Both high pitched and low pitches. I could her in the other room. So enter trying to resolve the problem and research. I've been researching this for days now and I've read tons of threads on it and I know about all to possible solutions, so don't try and help out in that regard because nothing will work I bought a new EVGA g2 power supply to try and see if my old PSU was causing the issue due to my 290 whining. No dice, I've tried burning the card in over night running benchmarks, no dice. I've tried underclocking and overclocking with no dice. After googling this constantly and getting a headache, I've discovered this is actually a big issue with the Pascal ACX cooled cards from EVGA and tons of other owners are having the same issue. Some people have RMA'd up to 3 times and each time they get a card with coil whine. This issue also goes back the ACX 970 cards. I'm fed up with it, I'm not going to RMA the card because I don't want to be without a GPU and then receive another whining card like the other owners. I think I'm just going to return this card back to Jet.com and try and get an MSI or Asus Strix 1070. If I google MSI or Asus strix 1070 coil whine I get far less results than EVGA. Seems like EVGA has an issue this generation.
  9. No. That's double buffered v-sync that locks down to 30fps. Witcher 3 uses triple buffering which doesn't do that. I've never turned on hairworks lol.
  10. V-sync doesn't bother me at all. It's the stuttering that happens when my frame-rate dips to 58, 55, or 45ish fps. Which happens a lot in the Witcher 3,
  11. My only concern with this is I can only really get an Nvidia GPU right now since AMD isn't making anything worthwhile over the 290 and fast enough. Meaning I'd be locked into only being able to get a gsync display in the future and all gsync ultrawides are crazy expensive.
