  1. Well I was, but that doesn't mean a note taking tool can't be used as one. I'll be it, a simple and rough tool for documentation. But if it work, it works. I don't disagree with you that the formatting can be a little weird. It's surely something to get used to. You can switch the setting in OneNote to only paste text with no formatting. I personally merge the formatting
  2. What's everyone's favorite documentation tool to use in there personal or professional lives? Personally I primarily use OneNote because of the ease of use and that I can see all my notes on my phone. With the only down side being that there's no native linux app but i can access it online.
  3. Correct. And I actually found that my spare universal rack mounting brackets worked brilliantly as a replacement. Not sure why I didn't think of this before.
  4. I recently acquired a Tripp-Lite B020-U08-19-K second hand but it's missing one of the rear mounting brackets. I could try mounting it to the rack with just three mount points (two front and one rear) but I'd feel more comfortable if it was fully mounted at all four points. Does anyone know where i could look to acquire a replacement set or the piece mount that i need? Otherwise, any advice or alternative to work around the issue is welcome too.
  5. First, I would research the recommended system requirements on the servers that you want to run. Take note of the amount of RAM that is recommended. I've found that the number one resource that I run out on in my home lab servers is RAM. Storage is usually second in line, followed by the processors resources. Is that a constant 40% on your server or is that only an edge case when the server is trying to process something heavy in the game for a short period of time? Keep in mind that when you're running game servers in a virtual machine or in a container, you get to allocate how many resources that each VM or CT gets. I run 3 Minecraft servers on the same i7-4770 processor and there are times when the 4 cores that I allocated on 1 server hit 100% load. (Usually when it needs to render new map chunks while multiple people are playing.) But the experience on the server is still smooth (mostly due to game code handling resources better lately), and only 25-50% of my total CPU gets utilized because I needed headroom left for other servers in the same box. Like I said before, look at the system requirements for the servers that you want virtualize and use that info to create a template for how many resources you might need to allocate. From there you purchase the equipment that you need to accomplish your goal plus be sure to include a little bit of headroom just in case.
  6. Thanks for the suggestion on that Mic. After researching it, I'm really liking the versatility of it and the price to match. I think I'm going end up trying out the Q2U and see how it goes, but from what I'm seeing in YouTube videos, it's a solid bang the the buck Microphone. Thanks again!!
  7. We've been doing something like this the past while. It's worked okay... I'll just have to move the microphone in a better spot so that it hears both of us better. In the next apartment, I'm hoping that we can set next to each other so that dynamic mics would work better or even our current setup. Thanks for everyone's help so far with this!
  8. This makes sense. I used to use an AntLion ModMic 2nd gen but I have been having issues with outside sounds bleeding in and I've gotten feedback from other people saying that I've sounded quiet with the mic. Are the new ModMic's better? I personally like to use my headphones versus using a headset. My girlfriend just uses a cheap wireless headset but her mic on the headset doesn't pickup her voice very well, so she's had a usb desk mic. The mic sounds fine but it picks up everything in front of it. Any recommendations for her?
  9. My girlfriend and I currently have an issue where we can't be on the same Discord call without each others voices bleeding into each other's microphones. We are sitting back to back to for right now, but are moving apartments soon and we won't know exactly how we'll be sitting after that. We're looking for a better set of budget friendly ($100 or less each) microphones that has great noise cancelation as to not pick each other up. Im open to using USB or XLR. Ideally I would like something that we can put on mic stands so that the microphones are taking up desk space too, but I understand if that's pushing the budget. Im also open to using used equipment.
  10. I'm in need of some help finding a good backup solution for my homelab. Currently I'm running a TrueNAS Core server with about 10 TB of backup storage available. I used to backup my Windows machines using Acronis True Image, however I want to get away from running the backup directly on the workstations and move that workload to the server if I can. So, a server to client approach would be nice, tell me if I'm crazy for wanting this in my home lab. Currently, I have one Windows 10 workstation, one Linux workstation that is being used as a Minecraft server, and a VM running Linux for my NextCloud environment and a Jail for Plex. I do plan to be adding more VM's and Jails as I get the priority services up and running in my homelab. I primarily like to use Ubuntu as my Linux server of choice if that helps sway the thought process. I've looked into different solutions such as running VEEAM on a Windows server 2019 VM in TrueNAS, however VEEAM must not like the bhyve environment because it will always fail during the SQL install and I can't figure out why. I've looked into the Asigra plugin and simply didn't like it because it felt unintuitive and the fact that it was using Java, no thank you. I've looked at some of the other backup plugins in TrueNAS and wasn't really impressed, but maybe that's what you get with free? If anyone has any sort of suggestions or can point me in the right direction on how I can approach backing up all of my servers and workstations to my NAS, would be greatly appreciated. In the end, if it makes more sense to just run backup software on the workstations and servers themselves then what kind of good Linux back solutions are out there that I could use? Thanks
  11. This is true but i would also be aiming for a more silent PC as well and i would like to try to overclock it more then it already is if i could.
  12. I plan to be liquid cooling my current system in the future and was wondering if it is really worth liquid cooling the VRM and/or the South Bridge. I do overclock, my CPU is overclocked to 4.2 Ghz at the moment but i would like to try to get more if i can. I know that actively cooling the VRM can help with overclocking but i'm wondering if its really worth it. Here is my current system config that: MoBo: Asus Maximus VI Hero ATX LGA1150 CPU: i7-4770k RAM: 32GB 1600 Mhz GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB DirectCU II Current CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 PowerSupply: Corsair 850W Thanks.

    Headphone suggestions

Ok, im going to be making a list and going to try to find them at some stores near me so i can get a taste of wats out there. Ill be trying other stuff too. I think comfort is going to be a biggy for me the more i think about it cause i could be wearing these thing for hours on end. Also ive had some experences w/ uncomfortable headsets. I currently have a Razer Carcharias and it feels fine for about 2 or 3 hours before i feel soreness on the top edge of my left ear. So these heafphones might be a replacement for my razer's hense why i am getting an Antlion Modmic to put on the headset.
