Thanks for replying! I have plex pass, I'll copy in media info below. I even tried adding the title that doesn't work in 1080p instead, still doesn't work. Okay, so not absolutely identical, but 500 out of 25 000 bitrate shouldn't have that much of an impact right? But also it didn't work when it was 1080p either, which is way lower rates. I have an issue where certain titles (randomly between series or movies) where same format, same bitrate, audio, hdr and everything is exactly the same, at least what I can tell from info screen, but one file plays flawlessly, and the other doesn't. Only happens when using an outside connection to the plex server. Any ideas why this can be? Could be a thousand reasons I suspect but anything that could point me in the right way helps. Thanks! Home network has 500/100, outside 100/100. Plex settings says that outside connections available etc so that seems to be fine? Since it only affects certain titles and not consistently I'm not sure where to start looking for errors. Thanks

Okay, not sure why, but I looked through the manual for the board, and saw there was a switch for bios, tried that one and now it boots. It took forever the first time though, and it did a lot of firmware updates etc but it seems to be working at-least. That would indicate that the mobo isn't broken after all I guess...

Okay, I'll try leaving it on for a while then and see if that does anything... But I've never had this issue before when unplugging the system so I'm not feeling very optimistic post code 28 on the top right display, but the oled display on the board says in plain text "detect memory" Edit: Maybe it doesn't matter but It's a fullboard waterblock. I seriously doubt it would have unseated the CPU

Sadly bit hard with the watercooling loop, but will do it if nothing else works but also wouldn't that give another error from the Q-code etc?

Moved my comptuer two floors down to a new apartment. Plugged my computer in and quickly realised I wan't getting into windows. Looked over and saw an error on the mobo display "Detect Memory", hmm that's weird, so I try restarting it a couple of times which did nothing. Tried one stick at a time, in all 4 slots. Did nothing. Tried another kit of ddr5, one stick at a time in all 4 s slots. Did nothing. I have no idea what to do here. The motherboard is a ROG Maximus Z690 Extreme Glacial, with a kit of G.Skill 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL36 Trident Z5 RGB Silver

Yeah I'm not in a rush, but doesn't hurt to look around and be prepared for when the time comes. It is approaching end of warranties (and end of rec life?) and stuff and I don't want to risk anything, psu go boom is not pretty Okay I'm exaggerating a little but yeah.

Might be a foolish question, but I'm looking to upgrade my PSU and I'm most likely getting another 1200W to fit my needs. However, I'm wondering if maybe this is a bad time to be buying a new PSU, considering new GPUs might soon be launched and there are rumors of new connectors and stuff? What do you think? Maybe I should even go higher than 1200W? Currently running 12900K, 3080 and a whole bunch of watercooling. And the trend seems to be that everything eats more and more power...

Thanks, I'm pretty much only interested (at least for now) in playing games such as Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs Legion etc, games that (imo) are better played with a controller. And regarding other functionality, the media apps like Netflix, Plex etc my TV already has, and I assume its AI-upscaling would be on par with that in the Shield? or at least negligible? But the addition of playing like android games and that stuff does sound kind of appealing, but not something I'm super excited about, if that makes sense. Regarding price (in Swedish currency) optcial HDMI would be 750 SEK, active USB 900 SEK, and a Shield TV Pro 2290 SEK so maybe 65-70USD cheaper with the cables. But I'm not against paying the extra for the Shield if it would turn out to be the better option. One concern with the cables though is there are a couple of corners the cable would have to go around, I'm not sure how "bendy" they are

Not sure if I'm in the right part of the forum here but anyway: I'm trying to decide between getting optical HDMI and active USB extensions to go from my PC to the TV in my living room, about 10-12 meters. Or if I should get a NVIDIA Shield TV Pro. The main reason for doing all this is because I want to play some of my PC games on the TV (Samsung 75" QLED Smart TV QE75Q70R). And since my TV already has smart TV functions etc I'm not really interested in those capabilities from the Sheild, they would just be an nice to have sort of thing I guess. Which solution would give me the best quality and lowest input lag? Or is the difference negligible? Appreciate any help. Agree about the 3090 reasoning. Hard to justify double the price for probably not "that much better" performance. And no, I do doubt 24GB VRAM will be used. But there's always rumours about new cards coming... oh well I'm at-least waiting for 3090 performance tests and availability of waterblocks to become better. Or hopefully a Poseidon card

Yeah maybe I was vague, I'm also trying to upgrade closer to every 2nd gen/3-4 years. I'm gonna hold out a little while until more reviews and tests are out, and comparisons between 3080-3090 to see if it could maybe be worth the upgrade. Also hoping for a new ROG Poseidon card

Exactly why I do it. A highly personal decision, I think it's worth it, others don't. But I'm fortunate to have a relatively high-paying job and can afford to build a new system every couple of years. Which is why I was wondering about the VRAM, if it will be a bottleneck in the next year or so

thanks for the replies, interesting read Whenever I build a new system I usually aim to get the (almost) very best so I can try to max out all settings for as long ass possible without dipping below "acceptable" FPS. That said, at almost twice the cost (at-least here in Sweden), the 3090 doesn't really seem worth it, unless it really outperforms the 3080 by a lot. Also, I don't really see myself doing a full rebuild, since my 8700K probably runs fine for a while more. But yes, if the 10GB becomes a bottleneck, it would definitely be a bit sad

Like probably a lot of other people on this forum I'm considering upgrading to one of the new 30-series cards. I'm mostly looking towards the 3080, but have one question regarding its vram. Since it's "only" 10GB, could this be a possible bottleneck for the next two-three years for 1440p gaming? For instance upcoming Watch Dogs: Legion has a requirement for 8GB, which seems awfully close to that 10GB limit. Am I worrying for nothing? Thanks

If I understand you correctly, the final third of the card after the powerconnectors are just the cooling? That would be great news because I'm going to watercool the card, so if it's at the end of the PCB, when watercooled it'll probably be at the end instead 2/3s in? If that makes sense?

What's the opinion of the power-connector placement of the FE cards? I was aiming to get one of those but now when I realized it's in the middle of the card I'm leaning more towards an ASUS or something...

Any chance ASUS Poseidon returns this generation?
