i5 3570K and the Oculus rift
Draconorst replied to Draconorst's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Do you mean 'Recommended spec' I would have thought with the overclock it would beat a i5 4590. but could be wrong. -
I have been looking at the recommended specs for the Oculus rift and I noticed that the recommended cpu is the i5 4590 or better. I have a i5 3570k overclocked to 4.2ghz. Does this cpu now meet the recommended spec? BTW all other components meet recommended spec and I have run the tool. Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Ok, the hinge on the m50's broke (plastic) and the ear pads broke down pretty quickly and had to be replaced. The DT 770's lasted longer, but the termination point where the cable meets the headphone is incredibly weak, the rest of the headphone is built like like a tank. I really don't want to keep paying $50NZ every few months to repair them.

I'm trying to fine a robust set of closed (or possibly open) headphones that sound fantastic and have great comfort. In the past I've had the audio Technica m50's and the Beyerdynamics DT 770's All great headphones but after a couple of years tend to break down. Any suggestions?

Quick question. At some stage I'm going to upgrade to a i7 6700K with the gigabyte G1 gaming 7 board and a GTX 980. What I want to know is will a M.2 Samsung 950 pro SSD impact on graphic performance? The M.2 uses 4 PCIe lanes, the 6700K only has 16 therefore the gpu will drop down to x8. Would the x8 drop have an effect at 1440p or 4k resolution? would it be better to upgrade to a x99 platform with a 5820K with 28 PCIe lanes? Would love Linus to test this.

Talk about ripped off. My preferred countries supplier of computer parts has the K95 RGB with browns listed at over $700 nz dollars. http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?partid=23098 That is Fu@king insane. I can get the same keyboard though Amazon for $240 US including freight. With the exchange rate no more than $300 dollars. Looks like I'm going to Amazon.

Congrats on the One million subs. I discovered you when I was researching the components for my first custom PC about 3 years ago. There are plenty of reports from Corsair that state that the K95 RGB is launching in August in Red, Brown and Blue switches. Skip to 4.20

I just hope its real! Corsair just take my cash.

Corsair Cherry MX RGB gets pricing and release dates
Draconorst replied to joncppl's topic in Peripherals
God I hope that K95 does come in Browns come August. So many articles are saying it will only come in Reds. -
You could take them into a electronics repair store and get them to do it and just get and extension for home, but they aren't really that portable as they are quite large (but not heavy).

Hi Guys. I thought I would give my thoughts on Two popular headphones that I've seen a fair amount of discussion on. I've had the Audio Technicia m50's (coiled cable) for around two years now are they are a great headphone, but the earpads had started to go on them and I was thinking of either replacing the pads or getting a new headphone. But unfortunately things came to a head when my daughter sat on them and somehow broke them, enter the Beyerdynamic DT 770's. Both headphones are closed and are of very good study construction, although the DT 770's have steel (yokes and band) and therefore are a little better construction. Both are large headphones, but the beyers are larger with the cups going completely around the ears not on them. Comfort definitely goes to the Beyers with their velour earpads, they aren't the pillows that people go on about but they are seriously the most comfortable headphone I have known. The M50's are pleather (the new m50's have better pads) but they breakup after a while. I going to get to sound now as there are plenty of reviews of these on youtube about the previous comments but not much on the sound. Bass: Both have great bass, but the DT 770's are deeper, they go lower and have more impact. I generally listen to rock, metals and pop, some songs that I thought lacked bass sound amazing on the DT 770 because of that lower bass that most headphones will not pick up. Bon Jovi's living on a prayer now has great lower bass and Nickleback's Burn it to the ground just rumble and sounds amazing. Pretty much any Music with bass will sound great on both, but the Beyers are more impactful. Mids: Both sound the same to me, slightly recessed but still great. Treble: This is where the two are slightly different, the m50's are more recessed, whereas the beyers are more pronounced and have more tinkle, both still great. Sound-stage: The m50's are more closed in and therefore don't give much separation whereas the Beyers have great seperation and this was something I noticed straight off was in a live performance (Nightwish's Showtime, Storytime) where I could hear the instrument separation more clearly. Sensitivity: The Beyers are very unforgiving of poor quality music, anything under 256kps sounds like crap, also poorly transferred masters even at 320kps sound awful when you know how good your headphones should be sounding. The m50's are more forgiving. Conclusion: Both are exceptional sounding headphones and there isn't a lot between the two, both are flat studio sounding (what the artist intended), both closed, therefore no leaky sound but you won't hear your significant other yelling at you (could be a good or bad thing). Both aren't very portable, so leave them at home. But to me the Beyer's are a better headphone. Ps: I use a Xonar DGX sound card with my PC and both headphones where used predominantly for Gaming, Music and Movies.

Just got the Beyerdynamic DT770 80ohm and I also own the ATH-m50's. Both are very good headphones, but in my opinion the DT-770 are better. Deeper bass, better separation, slightly more bright (treble). Comfort is out of this world and very sturdy. Spent months researching the best closed headphone and I think i may have got very very close.

Cheers Thanks will look into some external amps.

Has anyone had any experience with these headphones. How good is the bass? I'm hoping to replace my ATH-M50's with these as I find the M50's uncomfortable for extended use and would like something with a similar sound or better. Will be paring them with the Asus Xonar essence STX sound card.

Do we ever. Manufacturers seriously screwing us over. BTW we're from the same city (if you can call Invercargill a city)

Again depends where you live. The 780 is considerably cheaper than the R290x http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?partid=20663 http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?partid=20013

I should buy 10 of those Aussie ones, sell them here for $1200 NZ and pay for my trip.
