  1. Just a quick comment and you have probably noted it - But based on the pull of the fans on your initial drawing you will be pulling a lot of dust from below he base into the pc ?
  2. The case is so easy to work with .. great and so much lighter than the 800D monster I had, Lots of room behind the motherboard on the other side Ill add some more pictures once i have added the braided cables and tidied it up When you add the SP fans its also so quiet ..
  3. Yes to the Load test and red ... and for the name $10 extra ..
  4. The RAM was actually cheaper ordering it directly from Avexir .. http://www.avexir.com/customize/customize.html I'll start stress testing it once the final cables are all in place .. should be done Friday , assuming the delivery turns up Currently running the CPU @ 4.1Ghz overclock - from 3.5Ghz on the closed loop. GPU running as standard, not had a chance to push it yet .. I don't want to red out the GPU plate as it should glow red when it gets too hot or under stress .. it changes colour with use .. But this should change when i go full custom loop later this year ..
  5. Firstly hello and Happy New Year to one and all .. So I wanted to upgrade my 800D X58 build to something a little more updated I used the rig to purely game .. // so here it is .. as was .. As it was - Intel I7 920 DO @4GHZ , 6GB Ram, 5870 Graphics and a 60GB SSD with 3TB other disks . So after a month or so of scouring the internet for form and factor .. and with an eye on going to a Water cooled custom loop in the future I opted for the following Corsair Carbide Air 540 Case - Black I5 4670K Haswell 16GB Avexir Core Red @ 1600Mhz Asus Z87 Maximus Formula MB 120GB Samsung Evo SSD 2 x 1TB Western Digital Red HD Corsair AX 860 Corsair H100i Corsair SP and AX Fans Asus 7970 Matrix Platinum Graphics Now originally I tested the new board and base components in my 800D case with a new 6gb interface board for it .. unfortunately this nearly fried the PC as it was a faulty 6gb Sata interface ..I managed to pull the plug before it went up in flames .. So I waited until the rest of the kit arrived.. I got the ram directly from Avexir and added my gaming tag to the faceplate Threw it all together in a day .. prior to mounting the H100i Then ,, the H100i failed ... the pins on the H100i CPU head, where you attach the fan splitter collapsed .. So I had to go out and but a replacement for now .. went with a Coolermaster Seidon 240 .. and very happy with it. With Corsair SP fans on it is really quite all round. I am still awaiting the colour coded braided cables for PSU and fan splitters .. then I can tidy up the cabling and I am done for now .. Finished for now .. cabling done until I start the water loop starts in a few months. Few pics of back and insides, still plenty of room for pump etc Need to create a grommet for the bottom of the case Card with red PCie
  6. Fixed, Bypassed the new 6gbs Sata board from corsair and have now installed the software .. looks like an RMA in the cards
  7. Need some advice if possible please. I have a new Asus Maximus Vi MB (z87), with a New I5 4670K CPU (Haswell), New Asus 7970 GPU 16GB RAM - 4x4 sticks @ 1600Mhz Installed into an existing case with a corsair HX850 power supply and ASUS DVD player. I have changed the SATA II board on the case to SATA 6GB/S (Corsair 800D) Plugging back in the original disks and trying to reinstall Windows 8 from fresh. I am continually getting a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR screen on Windows Install. I can boot to UEFI happily and all hardware is recognised. Windows installs the files, and on the first reboot fails with the above error. I have tried all three drives and have the same issue (all Sata II) . A new Sata III drive arrives tomorrow. Wondering if anyone has a clue as to what could be the issue? Thanks in advance @Brokenhips
  8. Thanks for the replies .. have a lot to think about then .. @brokenhips
