  1. Yes exactly, but they're deployed in remote locations, so replacement cost about $10-15,000 regardless of hardware and it could take up to 3 months before we're able to get there. Loss of operation is also costly, but hard to put a number on. The question is really, with the amount of data we're writing, will we have more failures with a MLC drive?
  2. Hi guys, hope it is okay I ask a work related question. I work for a company where we use IPC's for datalogging. They are manufactured by a reputable brand in the PLC's world and we use 2x m.2 drives in raid to store the data. We're looking to upgrade the capacity, but the manufacturer is insisting on us using their pSLC drives, because of longevity, which cost $1,500 for a 1TB drive. I'm kinda getting the feeling that they're trying to sell us snake oil or at least a product we don't need. The data we store is not mission critical, but a drive failure cost us about $10-15,000. We buy about 50 systems a year, so it does end up costing us quite a bit of money, which I would rather not spend if we don't need to. At the most we write 15TB to the drives during their lifetime. Is it really worth paying 7x as much per drive for them to be pSLC?
  3. Hey, Just swapped the fans on my Corsair H150i PRO and I'm using coolant temperature for fan control. What is the optimal temperature to run the coolant at? I suppose as low as possible is an option, but I would like to keep it reasonably quite. Is there an appropriate range for AIO's? It's cooling a slightly overclocked 8700k, with 6 x Noctua NF-P12. Ambient temperature is ~25C (77F).

    Do i need a DAC

Hi. I just got my sennheiser g4me zero and I have been wondering if i need a DAC for them. I mainly bought them for gaming, but i also listen to music. Right now i'm running it of my on board sound-card on my asus sabertooth 990fx, to my ears it sounds fine and much better than my old corsair vengeance 2000. I have the 150 ohm model and my DAC budget is around $75 or £50 i live en EU so i would prefer something i can buy from EU or UK, amazon.uk would be great. Hope some of you can help :-)
  6. Ohh nice, didn't know that one :-) Anyone have some idea how big a performance drop i would get because af the 8350 vs fx something like a 4790k. About the PSU right now i think my choice would be a corsair RM1000, which as far as i'm concerned can handle all 1000W on the 12V rail.
  7. Hi. I'm thinking about adding another R9 290x to my system and i will properly need a bigger powersupply, but i'm wondering how big it has to be. pcpartpicker says 873W, so i'm thinking around 1000W. I have also been wondering if my fx 8350 will bottleneck a 290x crossfire setup alot. I hope you guys can help me, as you have done before. You can see my setup here http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pkmWLk
  8. I tried on another PC and i got it working, now it works fine on both computers. I used that pc to format it, the other couldn't do anything to the drive....
  9. Hi, i bought an icy box ib-273stu3 external harddrive inclossure for an old ocz agility 3 ssd. I have a gaming PC and a Macbok Pro. The problem is that when i use the MS-DOS og the exFAT formats that normally works with windows on my mac, they won't work on my PC. I can't even fromat the drive. I tried with another external hdd and it worked fine. Its the unallocated drive in the picture, when i right click on it the only thing visible is Help and preoperties. Anyone knows what's going on?
  10. Yep everything, local files, spotify youtube ect.
  11. Hi, a few days ago i discovered some distortion in the music comming out of my speaker, first i took it for nothing but it won't go away. I have tried reinstalling the soundcad driver, resetting the bios, running diffrent programs and using a headset with it's own soundcard. It sounds like the applications is crashing, some static and then it just continue. I haven't made any changes right before the problem and i have know idea what to do.. Can anyone help me? I have tried with asus sabertooth 990fx r 2.0 build on soundcard and corsair vengeance 2000 headset, same result, i'm running Wndows 7 64 bit Proffesionals.
  12. Hi. I'm about to build a an entire watercooling loop for my system. But I have never done it before and i don't know which brands to go for? Can anyone help. I need a waterblock for a FX-8350 and for either a asus R9 280x or 290x depend a bit on how big diffrent you guys think i will get.. I have room for a 3X120 radiator in the top with a max thickness of 5cm and and a 2x140 i the botton of my case (max 15cm with fans thickness...) Then i need pump and reservoir. I like the reservoirs who can fit in the 5,25" bay and I have 3 available. I can fit an 140mm radator in the back, but i think it will only mess it all up a bit. I allso need fan's for the entire system...so which brands a good for watercooling? The case is a NZXT 630 My budget is around $7-800, but i'm in europe so everything is a bit more expensive. I already own a XFX R9 280x but i can't find a waterblock for it, so i'm planing to sell it, hopefully getting maybe 3/4 off new price for it :-/ which is about $270 Hope some of you guys can help me :-D
  13. That was what i was thinking. I'm not really that mutch into water cooling, but i have advanced chemistry and physics in shcool (around same level as college, just denmark who like to be like no one else..)
  14. I have contacted swithtech, Heatkiller and EK. And non of them have something there will. Only the all-a-around versions and i don't like thease...
