  1. I bought a new mic and it works great, but when I plug it in my laptop tried to send all audio to the mic. Makes sense just have to switch it in settings. In settings It only gives me one option, "Headphone." Aka Mic because it is using the only 3.5mm audio jack. Now I am dual booting, and this is only the case in Linux; in Windows it doesn't even know there is a mic. Any suggestions? Specs Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS GTK+ 3.18.9 3.9 GB memory Dual-Core Intel® Core™ i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz Audio uses Pulse software Not sure about the sound card or if it just goes to the motherboard Any info is helpful.
  2. My soldering iron is in storage and I've inadvertently broken a lot of stuff while trying to fix it. So I'd rather just buy an adapter. Any Idea what it might be called? If I knew the name of the actual type connector it was it would be a lot easier. Would something like this work?
  3. That makes sense is there a way I can get the audio out to my laptop though, while preserving the stereo signal? I've tried using just one of the pins but that doesn't work.
  4. An airplane adapter has 2 pins like this one but the pin on the right only has tip and sleeve. But I do see the resemblance.
  5. I have a mic with an unusual pin config for its output. I want to buy an adapter so I can use it with my new camera, phone, or laptop but I can't seem to find the right one. For further context the pin on the right is your standard 3.5mm Tip, Ring, Sleeve and the pin on the left is built to provide external power. I got the mic off of an old Canon XL1,the camera is so old it was the only piece of value. If you have a link for the adapter (preferably amazon) please let me know. But any info is useful, thanks! Edit: it looks the same as a walkie talkie plug. Are there walkie talkie adapters for computers?
  6. Strange it doesn't start blinking until after a minute in to boot. Before that it's solid green. Sounds more like a mobo issue to me.
  7. Would you mind sharing your source. I can't seem to find any documentation for my motherboard.
  8. Oh sorry lol mobo led light again i wish I could provide more info but thats what I'm askinf you guys. I dont know what it is but it's next to the audio in cable from the front panel.
  9. Built it myself No clue thats why I'm asking you And this morning
  10. Does anyone know what this LED is? I would google it but I can only partialy reas the numbers. e30682-355 thats the mobo name. I think its the POWER_GOOD indicator to show a stable connection. When i turn on my computer everything is going fine but then the fans take an aderall or some shit and this light starts blinking orange. Then windows goes into repair mode. And it practicly shits it self with glitches before shutting down.
  11. Reviews get old quickly. And the stuff that is interesting is usually way out of everyones price range. So how about this... People send you the most fucked up end of the line second hand potato pc. And you guys show how to troubleshoot it. Not only will it be helpful to the people who send in their garbage but it would be helpful to other people trying to troubleshoot their pc.
  12. Maybe the quality of the build says something about my budget... TBH I'm a student so... The best chipset I can reasonably afford is a dorrito. But lets be honest who sticks to a realictic budget.
  13. I have a dual xeon server build... That's probably all you need to hear. After months of troubleshooting I've gottwn nowhere. So I'm going to strip it for parts, heres what I think I can salvage: 8 stick 32gb kit of ripjaw ddr3 ram 1000watt silent pro gold. Xfx r7870 And a pny 240gb ssd But I still need a cpu and mobo. I would like something comperable to qhat I have now 4 physical cores with hyperthreading times two(two cpus) And after this massive headache something with onvoard graphics. Nothing to expensive but reliable. Any suggestions?
  14. "and what was working in that environment like?" "to be honest it kind of sucked but the oral and dental plans were great" "sir... why did you apply to work at a Christian family values hotline?"
