  1. I'm serious, don't be scared. They are not going to break, you aren't going to turn it up all the way like a retard right? If I can plug mine into my Asgard 2 no problemo, you can do it on your Magni 2. You will go deaf before you destroy them, I guarantee you.
  2. Don't be a pussy. Go forth and listen! The iPhone 7 dongle is the thing that allows people to use wired headphones with it. It, unlike most phones has a near zero output impedance. You don't need a near zero output impedance. Like I said, listen first, you might not even be able to tell the difference.
  3. Actually, do you have the Exynos or the Snapdragon version? They have different audio solutions, and the Exynos version has no output impedance measurement available publicly. Just whatever you do, do the listening tests first. No point in buying something that might be pointless. Even if you were to buy something, I would just save up and go for a Dragonfly Black.
  4. The S7 is not ideal as it has almost 6 ohms of output impedance, so the better source by far would be the Magni 2. And no, the Magni 2 is not too powerful, it has a low gain mode and you just need to be careful with the volume pot. Try testing between the Magni 2 and the S7, theoretically the S7's output should be brighter, as in the lower frequencies the IM02's impedance drops down to as low as 16 ohms. It shouldn't be that bad though, between my iPhone 6S (~4 ohm) and the 7's dongle (<1ohm), the dongle just had a little more bass extension. Now if it had >10 ohm output impedance, thats when I would say to throw away that shitty source
  5. You're not going to find anything good under $200. Either the amp will be shit (20wpc with 10% THD at 1kHz is absolute garbage) or it will come with speakers that have proprietary connectors, or both. Just get a CD player and stick a cheap SMSL amp on top of it. It looks ugly, but it gets the job done and it can hold you over until you afford a proper amp to stack it with.
  6. Where are these going to be used? Nearfield? Home Theatre. If it's nearfield, you can get away with any cheap chi-fi mini amp. If it's home theatre, you're going to need a stereo receiver like the Yamaha R-S202BL.
  7. CD's do in fact have a built in metadata system, called CD-Text, but the artist/label even bothering to put anything there is extremely rare. So technically yes, a metadata system for Red Book exists, but no one uses it. It can be read by software players and rippers, but chances are, the vast majority of your CDs will not have any CD-Text in them.
  8. Red Book is an old standard, it was first introduced in 1980 and made a standard in 1987. Back then PC's weren't really popular, and MP3 players weren't really a thing yet, so the main consumption of CD's was from CD players which don't have a screen anyway (or a small one that didn't display any info). And it doesn't help that CD sales have sharply declined worldwide (except in Japan, where almost 3/4 of all music sales are physical goods), so the industry just has no incentive to change it.
  9. autocorrected from FLAC probably.
  10. Your assumption would be correct. Because when you playback FLAC, it will basically decode the file back into LPCM and then play it, so there should be zero difference.
  11. Beats Solo 3 Wireless at $200 is not a bad deal OP if it fits your use case.
  12. True, I don't own any dynamics or hybrids with ports for that reason. I guess I could throw out a couple that are good at $300: IM03, ER4XR, or the Orion is my recommendation, fast as f**k bass ftw. If OP goes chi-fi, might as well pony up for a GR07, the bass edition is pretty good too.
  13. Most likely won't notice a difference.
  14. AKG N20 - slight U-shape VSonic GR07 Classic - warm (Bass Edition will be darker) Shure SE215 - darkish (will improve if used with spinfits) Audio Technica E40 - V-shaped Recommending lower prices than the budget because after $100, lots of companies shift to using balanced armatures (and Chi-Fi brands rarely make anything above $100), and the bass on BA IEMs is an acquired taste, better to stick with dynamics.
  15. All the replies that said WAV was uncompressed and FLAC being compressed was before you stopped replying.
  16. That is normal, CD audio is what is known as Red Book audio, EAC will then take the LPCM stream from the CD and encode it into a WAV. Then it will take that WAV and compress it. WAV is larger because it is uncompressed, as everyone from your last thread pointed out.
  17. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-hifiman-he-350
  18. The HD5xx series is not known for their tight clamp, which suggests to me you might want to look at a suspension-type headband instead. Try the HE-350, Massdrop has them permanently now so it shouldnt be hard to get.
  19. wtf, did those happen to be 32/192 or something? Even 24/96 for 15 songs was only about 2GB for me for WAV.
  20. Switch to Foobar2000. It's very customizable, has an extremely robust file operations system, and is very lightweight.
  21. Just use the headphone jack dongle, they include it for a reason.
  22. There I fixed your sentence. I don't really want to go into it, but if you want lossy, do not use WAV. All lossy codecs already have their own containers that are just fine, and have much better tag support.
