Looking for a way to get wifi on desktop

Another question, will I be able to install the card out of the box, and connect to the internet, or will I need to be connected already to install drivers? I won't have internet obviously with the lack of a hard line connection, and my computer doesn't have a cd drive, so am I screwed either way?

Looking for a way to get wifi on desktop

Does this make it where it only will run off of one band of wifi, instead of bluetooth and 5ghz, etc?

Looking for a way to get wifi on desktop

I've found two that seem within a reasonable price range, but the TP link card seems to have installation issues according to other buyers. Which would you guys recommend out of these two? https://www.amazon.com/PCE-AC55BT-B1-Wireless-AC1200-Bluetooth-Adapter/dp/B0713RRZMB https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Archer-T6E-Wireless-Technology/dp/B016K0896K/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_147_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7T7FSCKEK053YNPXJJ8A

Looking for a way to get wifi on desktop

I'm not entirely sure what bandwidth of wifi they have quite yet, I move in tomorrow. I would like to know more about disabling the networking settings on the wireless card once I get it if you don't mind. The issue is when I went into the dorm today to check it out, I couldn't find anyway to connect a router, or any hardlines to. That tells me they only have wifi, which is probably the case. I have a 50 ft ethernet cable, but I'm not sure if they'd let me run it down the hall, or wherever they have the internet access located. If it's even on the same floor that is.

I'll give it a look. Are all wifi cards compatible with PCIe slots, or do I need to buy a specific one for my mobo?

Looking for a way to get wifi on desktop

So it'll just go into a PCIe slot on my mobo? Thank you for the information.
  7. Hello, I have the MSI B350 TOMAHAWK AM4 AMD B350 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard. I'm attending college for the first time this semester on campus, and they only have wifi. My desktop only has access to the internet through an ethernet cord. Would a wifi card work on my mobo? If so, what would be one of the best ones for signal, because I do a lot of gaming, and connectivity over wifi has usually sucked from my past experiences. Thank you very much for the help.

Is this RAM compatible with this MOBO?

So it will be okay to get this RAM?
  9. Hello, before I buy this RAM, I want to make sure 100% that it is compatible with this the H110M-A MOBO. It's an intel mobo with the LGA 1151 socket. Here's the link to the RAM. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231958&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= It's 2x 4GB 288 pin DDR4 2133. Or if anyone thinks that there's a better deal out there than this one, then please let me know. Thank you.

    First build not posting

Hello, I'm building a ryzen pc for the first time and I've put everything together in the case except the gpu and mouse. But when I turn it on the screen stays black. The boards led lights up and the vga and gpu small leds stay lit. I tried letting it sit forv10 mins but nothing happens. Its a 1600, and I'm using a msi b350 tomahawk mobo. Oh and I'm also using the vga for an old monitor I have. I'm not sure what to do but I'm frustrated with messing with this thing for hours. Also, I have two sticks of 4 gb ram at 2400 mhz installed and an ssd. If any of this can mess up the boot process then please let me know. Thank you very much.
  11. This looks like a great deal, I think I'll give this combo a shot. Thanks for all the help everyone.
  12. So why recommend a 1600 over a 1700?
  13. I think this will definitely satisfy my needs, I just don't like the cases that don't allow disc drives. How do I get the OS on it without a disc?
  14. Great! thank you for the advice, I may tweak a few things from what people are saying about the mobo's being difficult to install, and the case not having any disc drives for the front of the case, but other than that it seems really solid.
