  1. Thanks guys, sorry for the delayed reply, been quite busy. I'll do some thinking and decide whether to buy a new monitor, or to attempt this repair for the first time. Thanks again!
  2. Hello, My current monitor is beginning to dim and light back up quite often. It's quite old, I got it around 2012. It's an ASUS VH232H. I was looking into how to replace the backlight, which is what I expect is going wrong with it, and there are two main bulb types I ran across, the CCFL, and the LED. I just want to know if anyone has any information as to whether this monitor is one or the other. I can't seem to find any information online about the bulb types. I believe I'd prefer to attempt to fix this issue, rather than buy a new monitor, since I'm sure it'll be much cheaper to repair this one, rather than buy a new one. Thank you!
  3. I have a friend in Australia, and they want a gaming laptop that's worth their money. Can anyone suggest anything? I don't know crap about the laptop market right now, but their budget is around 2k AUD. Maybe a bit more if it's really worth it. They mainly want to game, but other applications like editing, and drawing are going to be used to. Thank you for any suggestions ahead of time.
  4. I checked the mobo, and couldn't see any bursted capacitors, or any of them leaking or anything like that. I'm currently on safe mode, and nothing unusual has occured yet. Think I'll give that software you suggested a try, and see where that takes me. I'll update you on how it goes. Edit: Alright, I used DDU and it uninstalled everything as far as I know. I then got back on, and downloaded the newest drivers once again, as soon as It finished, it said it failed to install them, then it black screened on me. It turned various colored solid screens after that a few times until I was finally able to get it to boot into safe mode again. I used DDu again, and tried installing drivers once again, it did the same thing. I'm pretty much stumped. Edit: I was in safe mode with networking, with multiple tabs opened, and it crashed on me. The screen turned orange, and then I had to restart it several times to get it back into safe mode again.
  5. I've never used ddu before, and yeah i used it in safe mode with and without networking so I could go on YouTube, and it worked completely fine. Ill give it another go though and double check to make sure it still works okay in safe mode. Ill give the mobo a run over as well, ill let you know if I find anything. Thank you again.
  6. Okay so theres tons of red ex's but all the ones I clicked on were the same error. It said "the nvidia localsystem container service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 13 times. The following corrective action will be taken in 10000 milliseconds. Run the configured recovery program." The event id is 7031 and it says the source Is service control manager. Theres also another that repeated twice that says the nvcontainerlocalsystem service terminated unexpectedly as well with the same event id and source. One of the nvcontainerlocalsystem errors is 7023, and it says a generic command executable returned a result that indicates failure as well. By the way, thank you for all your help Angel.
  7. I just put in a gtx 950, and it worked for a few minutes but the screen went black a few times for a second or so, but it came back. But the screen just went white on me once again. So I guess it isnt my graphics card? Also, sorry about the late reply, judt now was able to get my friends card. Edit: nevermind, it did the screen thing a few times, then it restarted two or three times, I guess to indtall the drivers for the new gpu, and now its working decently for the past 10 mind even in a game. Another edit lol, it just black screened once again while in a game. I'm completely confused.
  8. Tried the screen, still happening. Ill try the video card in a bit when i have access to another one. Thank you for the advice.
  9. Hello, my pc first began with the screen going black and not turning back on. Yesterday and today, it's done the same thing but with several different colors. A light blue, pink, green, white, and black. All solid color screens, and I cannot fix it unless i restart the computer. It was doing this when I'd bring up videos, or games. Now it does it before I even log in. Ive been able to get into safe mode with and without networking a few times, and it seems fine then. Ive updated my drivers, went back to old graphic drivers, updated windows, and now I cant do anything. It wont even boot up now before the screen goes black. I've gone through the bios and boot menus, but since ive updated it doesnt have any recovery points. Is there anyway to restore my pc without losing my files? I've got a lot of important information on it, and would like to keep it if at all possible. Also, could it be my gpu failing? Or could it be just some kind of failed interaction with my drivers? I did restart it while I was trying to recovery it before I updated it, and it had a black screen so I couldnt tell if it was finished or not, but once it restarted, it said it was a success, but still its been acting quite strange, with things like my profile picture not showing up anymore on the log in screen for windows. I'm at a loss now, and cant seem to catch a break with this thing these past few days. I built it in late 2017, its a ryzen 5 1600 with the gtx 1050 ti, so its not too terribly old. Any and all help would be appreciated, thank you very much.
  10. Do you think my headphones might just be poopin out on me then?
  11. I just moved, and had to get a pcie wifi card, since I don't have access to a hard line at my new place. Ever since then, my sound through my headphones has been very wonky. For example, I got static sounds randomly, but they've seem to stop, the sound is extremely loud sometimes, but returns back to normal, youtube videos don't load and end up saying some kind of audio issue is causing it. Is my sound card on my mobo going out, or is it the usb headphones maybe? Or could the pcie wifi card have something to do with it? It worked perfectly fine before I moved. Edit: Also, when videos on youtube don't load, I can just unplug my headphones, and they'll load fine.
  12. Another question, will I be able to install the card out of the box, and connect to the internet, or will I need to be connected already to install drivers? I won't have internet obviously with the lack of a hard line connection, and my computer doesn't have a cd drive, so am I screwed either way?
  13. Does this make it where it only will run off of one band of wifi, instead of bluetooth and 5ghz, etc?
  14. I've found two that seem within a reasonable price range, but the TP link card seems to have installation issues according to other buyers. Which would you guys recommend out of these two? https://www.amazon.com/PCE-AC55BT-B1-Wireless-AC1200-Bluetooth-Adapter/dp/B0713RRZMB https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Archer-T6E-Wireless-Technology/dp/B016K0896K/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_147_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7T7FSCKEK053YNPXJJ8A
  15. I'm not entirely sure what bandwidth of wifi they have quite yet, I move in tomorrow. I would like to know more about disabling the networking settings on the wireless card once I get it if you don't mind. The issue is when I went into the dorm today to check it out, I couldn't find anyway to connect a router, or any hardlines to. That tells me they only have wifi, which is probably the case. I have a 50 ft ethernet cable, but I'm not sure if they'd let me run it down the hall, or wherever they have the internet access located. If it's even on the same floor that is.
