So, I have a small budget of $400-$480 and want to upgrade my current PC that I got years ago. I would just like some tips as to what to get to be able to play games such as GTA V, Far Cry, and Minesweeper. I do not plan on building a completely new PC, for that will cost more than needed if I have a sufficient case with RAM, HDD, etc. Just want more GPU performance but need a CPU to not bottleneck. I am thinking of a GTX 970, but do not know if my CPU will bottleneck it. I looked into some online bottleneck tests and they seem to be false.

I might do that CPU and SSD for better performance. Do you know if it is smart to replace my HDD with SSDs? It will be a few hundred more, but is it really worth it?

You can take ideas from everybody and make your own. Just mismatch a bunch of pieces and put it in PCPP to see if it is compatible.
