  1. I got the amp linked below a couple years ago, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0189EVGAG/ref=psdc_13880161_t3_B01CPUVPEM It's been relatively fine, if weirdly incompatible with Windows 7 64bit at times, requiring uninstalls/re-installs sometimes. I've got a little money for something better, but had no idea where to look or what. I only bought this one because my new pc had weirdly terrible headphone jacks. I want something on the cheaper side (under $100, as low as possible) that... 1. Just plugs into my computer with a cord. 2. Can make deafeningly loud volume. I need to know it can drive/power anything I plug into it. 3. Must have a physical knob for volume control. I've gotten too sick of using media keys that don't allow the precision/quick volume adjustments I need. I don't care if it's tubes or what. Just needs to meet those 3 criteria.
  2. tl;dr certain games fail to boot or are a stuttering unplayable mess when I simply have my headphone amp plugged into the computer at all. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0189EVGAG This one^ I don't get the problem at all, it's just a PnP amp and only some games fail to work. Games like Into the Breach, Dark Souls 1, 2, and 3, none will work. They will not even get to a title screen, their process just freezes. And if I plug in the amp after I'm loaded in, sound won't come out from it period. I've fiddled with permission settings, every conceivable setting, even uninstalled/reinstalled the amp through Device Manager and just nothing. I can have the amp plugged in, the game won't boot, I can unplug the amp so the sound comes out my speakers (audio pass-through port from monitor) and the game will instantly open. Running Windows 7 64bit. Somebody please have an answer. I mean, all I'm doing is changing where the sound comes out. So what even the fuck. Edit: Dark Souls actually opened and worked after 15-20 minutes of a frozen process. And the sound works. But this doesn't solve the problem if this happens every time.
  3. Too many buttons, sorry. I think I'll just get https://www.amazon.com/VicTsing-Wireless-Breathing-Programmable-Ergonomic/dp/B075M153PL/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1521533385&sr=1-4&keywords=wireless%2Bgaming%2Bmouse&th=1
  4. Doesn't matter what kind of sensor, and I only need it to have the now-standard forward and back keys. None of those crazy 8675309 button'd mice for MMO's. Under $30 preferably, and something that is good for big hands. I know I can't expect much for under $30 but it's all I can do for a wireless. I'm done with wires. Edit: If it's a buck or two over $30 then no biggy.
  5. ...yeah I've noticed even shitty laptop RAM's worth more than my phone bill. I wonder what the deal is
  6. I'm trying to go from 8gb to 16gb of RAM in my rig, and the only place I could find the exact same RAM sticks was Newegg, and it's kinda disgusting how expensive it is. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231544&cm_re=ares_ram-_-20-231-544-_-Product Anybody know where I can find these for a reasonable price?
  7. Yeah resetting my router was kinda implied. And reinstall Windows, really? That's a lot more complicated than people think. Do you actually know anything or are you just reading off of a tech support script
  8. Did that with all my browsers and restarted my computer. No change.
  9. Been having issues with Youtube for about a week now. I've had no other issues with anything but Youtube. Steam downloads are fine, gaming is fine, Skype/Discord video calls are perfect, nothing else experiences slowdown. Speedtest even gives me 35-40mb/s. I've tried with Friefox, Opera, Chrome, and even Internet Explorer. All of which were up to date and I even updated Adobe Flash. Flushed my DNS, and tried everything I could think of to just refresh as many things as I could. I used to be able to watch 1080 60fps videos on Youtube with it always being at max buffer, now it literally can't even buffer 240p fast enough without pausing. I checked the "Stats for Nerds" and the connection speed never goes above 1200kb. Interestingly, anytime I also try to download something from Youtube with 3rd-party software, it's also glacial. Sometimes saying I'm not even connected to the internet. Anybody got any ideas? I'm ripping my hair out trying to fix this.
  10. Just tried that, tore my computer apart and found the wire. Well, mass of audio wires that were all together in a plastic housing. Unplugged it, powered my system up, and no change in the rear ports. They detect things just fine, but no voice. Plugged the wire housing back in, tried again, no dice. I did download the most recent drivers and utility from Realtek, and they did the same thing Windows did. Went through my entire BIOS for anything that could possibly be relative, and didn't find anything useful. Also forgot to mention I boosted the gain on all 3 mics/headsets and twiddled with them. No change in Windows, Skype or the Realtek utility..
  11. How do I check that in my BIOS? I don't recall anything like that when I was in there. My MOBO is an Asrock 970m PRO3+ I believe. Might've mixed a few of its numbers up, but that's probably right.

Nah. I've always been in the minority with loving Sun Butt the most.
  13. Yeah I've been saying that. When programs seldom even detect the mics, nothing happens.

Is that the opinion of the herd now a days? It's been a while. :)

  15. It's not that, it's that nothing picks up voice. The little test things in Windows, Skype, etc., don't pick up anything period. When I know all my headsets work fine.
  16. Yes, one on the front (actually top, but "front panel") and one in the rear off of the MOBO directly. I even checked my case AND motherboard manuals to be 100% sure they were the right ones, and my front panel mic input is for sure wired correctly. And no, I have a cheapo keyboard for scrubs, heh.
  17. Never had problems like this with Windows 7 before. This is my 3rd Win 7 computer and this is just baffling. They were for sure plugged in all the way, unmuted(if they had a button) and I know they work from testing them on phone calls. Nothing wrong with my motherboard, no sound card it has integrated sound and all proper MOBO drivers for sound.
  18. I tried that, and nothing changed. When I say "I tried everything" that means I tried every thing I could think of, short of formatting my computer.
  19. I built this pc back in September (running Windows 7 64bit) and I could never get any microphones to work on it, no idea why. But now I've gotten tired of not being able to talk to people. I'm not ignorant to computers and I'm pretty tech savvy, but this is some serious haunted hardware shit going on. I've tried 4 different microphones of all kinds, downloaded drivers (if I can even find them!) and spent hours in configuration tabs, all to no avail. What specifically happens is I plug it in, and it gets detected by programs, but no sound comes out, and it never picks anything up. The most that will happen is the little green bars/whatever will sometimes flicker, but never in relation to any actual noise. Anything with a mic that I plug in will show up under Windows' Recording tab, but not under the Playback tab. So even if it picked up anything, I'd get no playback through them. Even if I plug them into the front panel jacks, or even the rear ones on my MOBO, same thing. Anybody got any ideas? Because this is beyond frustrating at this point. It SHOULD be working (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)

I did that and got Tropico 4. Was not happy.
