  1. I'm planning a budget build for my next computer NEXT MONTH (no later, so waiting is not an option) so I can separate my gaming rig from my music production/video editing rig and I need some serious pro advice. I'm from Canada btw. This is my current rig: Intel i7 3770k 16GB AMD RAM Sapphire Radeon HD 7850OC 750W Power Supply Asus Sabertooth Z77 Motherboard the rest isn't important to this topic I've been looking up computer parts and with Ryzen and Intel's Coffee Lake chips on the market and after so many generations since I last built a computer, it's hard to come to a decision on a CPU and motherboard configuration. I am dead set on getting a Thermaltake P3 case because I love the open concept of it and that is going to be the case for my STUDIO setup paired up with a RGB motherboard (Asus/Aorus). So this is my plan: - Make a gaming PC rig just good enough to game and stream - Allocate whichever CPU is the most powerful to my STUDIO setup Things I want cleared up: - Is the lowest level 8th gen i3 actually more powerful than my 3rd gen i7? According to this it is http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i3-8100-vs-Intel-Core-i7-3770K/3942vs1317 - If so, should I just get the i3 8100 to be my studio brain for now and upgrade in the very near future? Is a 8th gen compatible motherboard immediately "futureproof"? Seeing as it won't take previous gen LGA1151 chips anymore. - What is at this moment or by November, the most powerful CPU for a ~sub $200 price range? Looking forward to hearing your guys' wise words.
  2. Taken with my Xperia Z3 Compact in Gui Lin, and Wuhan, China. Had a Sony A6000 in my other hand as well.
  3. Headphones specifically or earbuds? Because I recommend the Shure SE215, for headphones...something by Sennheiser or Audio Technica?
  4. There are ebay shock mounts or other ones from music stores for very cheap, they would be important for you I guess since there's keyboard claks and mouse clicks and movements and arm movements on the desk, so the shock mount will mitigate those vibration from traveling to the mic. Keyboard claks especially are pretty annoying...
  5. No because the vocals are already MIXED into the track, to remove it is like trying to remove egg from a completed pancake batter (i think that's how you make pancakes)...or trying to extract all the marinade from a piece of meat from the oven..... #analogies.....
  6. ATH-M50X listening to those is definitely a treat, but I use them for studio work too which is kinda what they're tuned for, whereas the HD598 might be more attuned to pleasure listening, either one would be a fantastic choice.
  7. Yea I thought so, my only gripe as I've said before is paying $1250 (more than twice the price of an iPad Air 2) for a tablet that is totally not twice the value...(certainly not as powerful as the Surface Pro 4). But I guess as a student as well I can take advantage of their back to schools sales.... -_-|||
  8. Hi guys, so I've been having a dilemma for a very long time now about purchasing a tablet. I direct and conduct an orchestra, and I currently use my Sony Xperia Z Tablet to conduct the orchestra (I used an iPad Air last year and sold it). I love the tablet in almost every way except when conducting I find that the 10 inch screen in landscape mode is simply too small for me to see the score and all the parts without having to look closer and even having to pinch zoom the tablet, so now I'm on the hunt for: - A very large screen tablet - Descent battery life - Responsive touch screen - Stylus would be nice - Good light package and stylish/minimalist-esque design (preferably, I mean you still gotta look good with it) - Be able to write music and be productive on the go, either via Stylus or be able to run Finale (which only windows can do) These were the tablets I was thinking of: Surface Pro 4 (i5, 4GB, 128GB), iPad Pro 12.9 inch (128GB), Samsung Galaxy TabPro S (Windows, base model), Huawei Matebook (base model) Now here's my experience: - I've bought the Surface Pro 4 to try it out and I returned it because I just wasn't completely satisfied with the battery life, plus it was a bit heavy and got hot and it had this identity issue thing as well where I felt it wanted to be treated like a laptop when i wanted it to be a tablet (i didn't get the type cover), don't get me wrong I really loved it for what it is just for the money it didn't make me feel satisfied and I feel I should give it another chance - I looked at the iPad Pro cause it's the biggest tablet in the (popular) market, and here in Canada it's $1250 for the 128GB one I want, but with the limited OS and not being able to use Finale, aside from the far better battery life it had me asking why should I pay surface/laptop level price for a slightly bigger screen and battery but can only run a limited OS, but that was my only gripe with it. Notes: - I have a 1st Gen MacBook Pro Retina that I bought years back, and because I dropped $2000 on it and it still works quite well, I refuse to get it replaced until it is literally on its last legs which actually doesn't seem like it's going to happen anytime soon, so I'm NOT looking for a laptop replacement, only a big tablet that works in the most desperate of times during shows and stuff, and be able to use a stylus to make clear and accurate annotations on the PDF scores. As of now it looks like the iPad Pro is the best option, but I want to get your guys' opinion on this matter. Or should I wait for the next batch of big tablets to see? I'm racking my brain over this also, when these big tablets came out I would see so many comments and even reviewers saying why so big?? who is this for??? why would anyone buy these??? and dismissed the size of them as a negative trait, and I'm just sitting here going like....that'd be something that'd help me out A LOT......the ignorance was so real.....
