  1. If you're buying new, I'd recommend a RX 480 8GB. You can get an aftermarket one off of newegg for ~$250.
  2. I have the Gaming X 6G and I googled "GTX 1060 6G overclocks" and went off that. I'm currently running +91MHz on core and +74MHz on memory using Afterburner.
  3. As far as I know, all 1070s are within a few avg FPS of each other, so just get the one that matches your build the most. Even if it has a lower stock speed, you can overclock it using MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision XOC.
  4. If you're buying a new one, chances are that EVGA has already fixed it. The whole exploding EVGA cards fiasco was a few months ago, so they've probably fixed all of the new cards.
  5. My bad, I thought it was the VRAM chips on the card
  6. He probably is talking about the issue with the RAM modules exploding. I'm pretty sure they've fixed that by now though.
  7. Everything seems like it should be right. Try reseating the 480
  8. Double check and make sure the display cable is plugged into the RX 480 and not the mobo. If that's not the issue, go into the BIOS and make sure the computer is using the RX 480 as the main display device (it should do this automatically though).
  9. What software do you guys use to control the speed of the fans connected to your motherboard? I tried using Gigabyte's App Center because I have one of their mobos, but I really don't like it.
  10. I think you should keep the mass storage HDD, but you don't need a NAS HDD
  11. Ok, that makes sense. When I was installing it I didn't make the screws super tight because they didn't all fit very well.
  12. Yeah I did that a while ago, everything seems to be fine.
  13. So I recently got a replacement HDD from Wester Digital (it was a WD Caviar Blue 1TB) and since I've been using it, I've noticed that sometimes it makes noises. The closes thing I can describe it to is some kind of grinding. The HDD seems to be working fine the speeds seem as they should be, I've attached a pic. The noise is especially noticeable when running 4K read/write tests. Is this normal?
  14. I'm only using Norton because it's free with my Comcast subscription. I'm looking to change it soon. What's so bad about it anyways?
  15. I've only had my computer running for 1-2 hrs and Norton has written more than 4.5 gigs to my SSD. Is this normal? And are there other antimalware programs (Malwarebytes, Kasperkey, etc.) that don't write so much to your hard drive?
  16. Ok, thank you so much for all of your help man! I am extremely grateful.
  17. Ok, does formatting the drive erase EVERYTHING on the drive, so that so have a totally empty drive after installing Windows? Thank you so much for all of your help!
  18. When you say to remove every drive except for the SSD, do you mean physically remove them, or delete them? Because I was planning on installing Windows with only the SSD plugged in this time. Would I have to delete the drive (red X button) or just format it (eraser button) when reinstalling Windows? You have been a huge help man, I don't know how to thank you enough!
  19. According to this video (sorry I can't shorten it I'm on mobile) if I reinstall Windows, I should be able to delete existing partitions on my drive. If I deleted existing partitions, would it be the same as doing a clean install of Windows?
  20. I bought a Windows 10 installation cd that I could put in again. Would I need to totally wipe my drives before reinstalling Windows, or would Windows do that automatically?
  21. Yeah, but I won't be able to get an external HDD anytime soon. I feel like I have to nuke my drives at this point and reinstall everything (which I am perfectly fine with). How can I do this?
  22. I'm not sure what a BCD is, but if I rebuild it on my SSD, would Windows boot without my HDD?
  23. Yeahhhhh I'm not sure I want to do that. I feel like it would be easier to nuke the drives and reinstall everything. Would I encounter an error if I used the same Windows key a second time, even if I used the same parts?
  24. I don't have an external HDD though. Could I just move the boot loader onto the SSD somehow?
  25. Yeah the HDD was plugged in when I installed Windows. Will I have to totally wipe my drives for a clean Windows reinstall?
