Charles_2007's Achievements

  1. For the GPU upgrade : After seeing two video with 2080ti in a Silverstone SG-13 , I did a little modding of my old Silverstone SG-05. I cutted an opening in the front of the case, and I trimmed the front plastic bezel and I was able to fit a RX6800 reference card (2 slot) The exterior of the case is unchanged and I now have a 6800 card Still missing two things: A custom power cable from my modular PSU to 2 x SATA power and 1 X molex power (for the blu-ray). I have a spare cable do I can simply modify it A 1440 monitor, I have a LG 32'' 1440 monitor on order I am looking forward to see the 6800 stretch it's 1440p muscles https://pcpartpicker.com/user/leblancc_99/saved/#view=8tszP6
  2. I completed the CPU and nmve upgrade on my system Now running a Rysen 5900X and a Crucial P2 2tb and I have a new 600W psu Now I am looking to complete the GPU upgrade and I strongly favor AMD for the GPU as well My current RX480 is 242mm in length. The card is a tight, I need to remove the hdd tray in order to install it. I should be able to install a card up to 249mm without removing any additionnal hardware, To fit a card longer than 249mm, I will need to remove the PSU, and the front cooling fan. I wanted a RX6800, the "reference model" is 267mm, I justy check and it does not fit my computer, I looked around and I do not see shorter cards It will be eighter a blower gpu or a two fan gpu Right now I am looking to choose between à 6700XT OR 6750xt OR 7000 series card that sould come out in the next few weeks
  3. «upgrade my Ryzen 1700 to à 5900x or 5800x at retail price on my Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-ITX/ac» I just completed phase 1 of the update I changed my old M2-Sata SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 512mb)) with a Crucial P2 NVME 2TB The M2 is UNDER the motherboard so I had to take the computer apart completely Upgraded the Bios t the the «AGESA COMBO PI V2 1.2.0.7» revision, on the Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-ITX/ac, it is version 7.2 Beta I installed a Ryzen 5900X with a super low profile Phanteks PH-TC12LS (the case is very small, this is the only cooler that would fit AlsoI did a full re-install of windows 10. Funny thing, I am still using my 2013 Windows 8.1 product key. Added bonus I had memory instability before the update and ran the memory way below the XMP rating, now I am back at the XMP rating of 3200 instead if 2133
  4. AGESA COMBO PI V2 1.2.0.7 is a game changer for my old computer I can now upgrade my Ryzen 1700 to à 5900x or 5800x at retail price on my Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-ITX/ac Asrock had a beta Bios avallable: 7.20 [Beta] 2022/5/27 1. Update AMD AM4 AGESA Combo V2 PI 1.2.0.7 2. Support Renoir, Vermeer, and Cezanne CPU 3. Remove Bristol Ridge(AMD A-series/Athlon X4 series) CPU support.
  5. Built a computer bases on a Thermaltake Lanbox case ans with an Intel 8400. I hated that case. I hated that CPU and the motherboard only bas two Ram slot and did not accept more than 2x4 gb
  6. Budget (including currency): 1200 USD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: FHD Gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): MY SFF is base on the Silverstone SG-05 case I want to upgrade my GPU and keep my win10 license alive (keep motherboard and cpu cooler) My Current GPU is a RX480 x 8gb with the reference blower design. This actuall helps ALOT with the tiny casing design and the thermals are excellent The current dimension of my GPU is 240 x 112 x 37 mm and it is a tight fit The casing is compatible (254mm) long size is wouble width I cannot find any blower GPU anymore and the AMD Radeon Pro W6800 is way too expensive I could go with a RX 6600xt and keep the PSU, how this compare to the RX480? I could go with a RX 6700xt and upgrade the PSU How does the RTX3060 and RTX3060TI compare to thetwo Radeons? Should I sell RX480, is there any value left for this? Current config Case Sugo sg-05 with SFX-L 500w PSU (1 x 8pin) MB ASRock AB350 Gaming-ITX/ac Want to change the CPU (Ryzen 1700 -> Ryzen 3800X) I will change my old SAMSUNG 850 EVO M.2 2280 500GB for a bigger NVME storage I will probably replace the RAM because I cannot use the fast timing on it G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB F4-3200C16D-32GVK Capacity: 32GB
  7. After viewing the "Making a $300 Pixel Clone" I made the jump and transformed my Poco F1 into a Pixel clone Now, after two years of use, I decided to roll back to the Stock rom Steps: You need your MI account username and password It was created when you rooted your phone https://account.xiaomi.com/ Also before you start you will need Wifi access I used the latest flash tool 20210226, it worked fine on my computer (intel based laptop) Ihttps://xiaomiflashtool.com/category/download For the stock ROM, I made a few mistakes in the past and I decided to roll back to the old version MUI V9.6 (Android 8.1) https://xiaomistockrom.com/ I followed this guide https://flash-guide.com/download-flash-official-stock-rom-xiaomi-pocophone-f1/ I copied and pasted the steps below On my system, I had the following problems: Unable to locate the files in the firmware folder I moved the folder to the c:\poco\ forder to have a shorter PATH After rebooting the phone, the device was LOCKED by Xiaomi and needed to be unlocked with the MI Account name and password. Also a Wifi connection is required for this step. I did not have the user name and password, it took some tries but finally I was able to get a password recovery with BOTH my original email address AND with a text message to my original phone number. Since the phone is locked, I was not able to see the recovery password sent by text message so I swapped the SIM card of my PocoF1 to another phone, sent the password recovery again and it worked After the system was updated three times and I now have Android 10 on my PocoF1 with MIUI V12
  8. I am still running my old Dell Vostro 3560, it worked fine for 1 year after a big upgrade (cpu, memory, disk) I now have a problem with the alimentation power When plugged to the AC Adapter, the laptop cycles between AC power and Battery power each 5 seconds The laptop will run perfectly with AC power alone if I remove the battery completely The laptop will run perfectly with the battery if I disconnect the AC power I am running Win10 Home 21H2 I tried booting with a Ubuntu LiveCD and I have the exact same problem I was just about to open (tear down) the laptop to upgrade the wifi card with a 5ghz model over the 2,4ghz so I could replace a defectives DC-DC board I looked at the Hardware manual and there is no separate board for the DC-DC power, the power cable AND the battery plug directly on the mainboard (see below) So unless somebody has another lead, this laptop is toasted At this point I will not consider a motherboard swap, I will be looking to purchase a new laptop with Rx6600 or a mode powerfull RTX 3070 and scrap the old laptop
  9. I work in a Small business and we do not have an IT department. We have outsourced the IT to a company and they are not that good but with the size of the business I not expecting much We have 20 computer users and an old Lenovo server that needs to be replaced next year We are only running two things on the server: One VM running the file server (about 3tb) One VM running Quickbooks Our current IT company being the good and obedient MS Partner is trying to push all the MS stuff possible We already change office to O365 with a significant cost increase; now they want to get rid of the on-premise server and force us to Azure The account manager told us "anyways Quickbook is not compatible with Windows Server 2019 so you have to go with Server 2016" I think this is a lie My issue is that our server is really FAST and if we go with Azure, the user are very likely to experience a slowdown Question: Is it still possible to get a Server "on-premises" or that business model is outdated? 10. For a few month I have been getting crappy internet, the speed is 2-7mb and it is supposed to be 10mb The speed is getting so bad that the 7 year old daughter of my girlfriend cannot listen to her program Technical support had been trying to solve this for over 1 month with no success, the reality is that I am getting cable access thought a reseller because the cable company punish you if you do not get tv cable access and phone access in combo with their internet. So I took my Samsung S10 and did a speedtest on Bell network and I am getting over 100Mbps I am also looking at the nearby tower and Telus and Roger have tower closer to me Anybody did switch to broadban internet in Canada? I am thinking about purchasing a LTE-A Broadban router, connecting it to my existing Router instead of the cable modem
  11. While I am considering moving away of Windows to go on Linux, I do not want to paint myself in the corner with incompatible hardware with windows 11. I currently have only 1 licence of Windows 10 for my main computer and the 2nd computer is an HTPC running Linux. I do not want to build a new computer because of the price of a mid-range GPU is still very high to my taste and I am trying to stay running until Zen4 with DDR5 Main PC Ryzen 1700 Zen 1 core, limited to Win10 tdp 65w B350 mb 32 GB of PC3200 RX480 HTPC Ryzen 2400G Zen + core, limited to Win10 tdp 65w B450mb 16 GB of PC3200 APU only Option #1 I can max out my B350 with a Ryzen 3700X (Zen2) and enjoy a +23% speed increase, I will probably end up purchasing a used or refurb chip. My motherboard has an OEM Bios that support the CPU It is a lot of money and a lot effort for a modest performance increase and the new cpu is not that new. The HTPC can by upgraded to a 3400G (Zen+), 4700G (Zen 2) or 5700G (zen 3) Option #2 I can scavenge the B450 from my HTPC and max it out with a Ryzen 5800X (Zen3) and enjoy a +40% speed increase. It means a new win10 license, a motherboard transplant ; both system are tightly packed ITX case so this will take a lot of time but since the m2 chip in located under the motherboard, I can also upgrade the M2 drive with a bigger and faster NVME drive. The HTPC can by upgraded to a 3400G (Zen+) the B350 motherboard support stops there
  12. So the built is almost completed, it is only missing the Data drive (2TB Hybrid HDD) that is a system pull from my main desktop computer. I had to take the computer apart almost completely to replace the MSata card The Win10 installation work, it accepted the win7home COA While the system is faster than before, it is still a 9 year old mid range laptop
  13. The I7 upgrade is mainly for nostalgia. When the I7 came out, they were out of my price range and I had the impression of settling for an inferior product. I am even thinking of purchasing a Core i7-3840QM even is theTDP is 45W instead of 35W hoping that the thermal throttling will fix any TDP problem
  14. Budget (including currency): 300$ Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: WOW Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I am getting an old Vostro 3560 Laptop and I would line to make it my daily driver Plan: CPU: i7-3632QM (Socket G2) (used from China) Memory : Samsung 16 Go (2 x 8 Go) 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3L-12800, 1600 MHz (new) Storage #1: 1 TB Samsung MSATA pull from a used Samsung T5 external drive Storage #2: 2 TB Seagate Firecuda (system pull) Keyboard : Vostro Keyboard Canadian French The system already comes with a Radeon 7670M with 1GB Ram, doesn't look to be upgradable to 2 GB RamOS Win10 home (upgrade from win7 home)
  15. I was hoping for that but it did not work, even if the old 8.1PRO install is activated, the UEFI only had the 8.0 home
