  1. Yeah i allso cringed a bit seeing reviews about the 1080 performance compared to the 1070 while the price was that high. As for the TV thing i guess my living room is allso my everything room #student I originaly looked at the NZXT kraken x61 cooler for some OC. And maybe a upgrade to 32GB ram aswell. Using Autodesk Inventor(that i need to do a lot) on my current 4gb ddr3, Core 2 quad q9550 is a terrefying adventure.
  2. While all those things are true and sound exciting i would probably have to settle for a low end GPU in that case. And i had no idea about the kaby lake thanks for the heads up.
  3. If you were in my shoes what would you buy then? A 1070 or a 1080? Or maybe something else?
  4. Yes i looked at this a few days ago actually. But then its the special factors around my build. Like if i stay with the 4670k i could buy a lot of SSD space, new screen and fater graphic card then i can if i buy the Skylake mobo, cpu, ddr4 ram etc.
  5. As for the Silverstone psu. I only know its 600w as i havent checked exactly what it was and was just told that, cant check atm tho but can post when i km now. Right now im using a Dell 27'' but i do allso use it for my TV sometimes. And like i said the budget could be redistributed for the purchase of things like a new screen. Edit: allso i have the ability to borrow a HTC vive and a Oculus Consumer from time to time so i want it to be able to handle that somehow :-)
  6. Thing is i got a Corsair HX850 and a Silverstone 600w, what i understand they both kinda ok? And from a performance standpoint it will be viable to get like a 1070/1080 with the 4670k? Like i said my budget that was meant for an entire pc now might become "just get a great gpu" and maybe a fat ssd etc.
  7. So i was thinking of upgrading my PC to a Skylake i5 6600K from a Core 2 Quad Q9550, but as soon as i had all my shopping list sorted out a i5 4670K almost complete computer (no dist GPU) fell into my lap and now my question is if its worth the upgrade from i5 4670K to i5 6600K? So the follow up question is allso, would it be worth even tho the computer came with SSD, 16GB Ram, PSU,Mobo etc and the alternative would be to spent my "upgrade budget" all on a GPU and periferals. Or Cannibalise the SSD and PSU and buy the upgraded pc i was thinking of in the first place? Side note: i have a sapphire R9 285 Dual X in my current build i was about to migrate to the new.
  8. My initial tought was the i5 6600K and a Asus Z170 - A ( or pro ) .... but after reading endless comments about the Asus motherboards and people having problems with both the Z170 - A and the - Pro i was a bit discouraged, the Z97 lineup got all kinds of awards and i saw them in multiple builds with good results. might be time to revisit it again. Do you have any porefered Motherboard that you could recomend me? i know the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming is pretty populair as well as the MSI gaming one.
  9. Exactly, im currently a frequent user of I/O Hubs for acessability. And at my current state i don't use any of those ports, I like Asus motherboards as mine has lasted pretty long in my opinion, and this one had a 5 year warrenty and was promoted for its long lasting use.
  10. You might be right, the reason for the overdimention is for long lasting rig, like the one ive been running the past 9 years. didnt overclock until like 2 years ago when it started to feel a bit slow.
  11. Reason for upgrading: Pretty Simple, My current Rig is about 9 years old and while i still can play games in medium working with AutoDesk Inventor that ive had to do a lot recently is a total horror. Current System: CPU Intel E8500 Motherboard Asus P5E3 Deluxe RAM 4GB Corsair Domminator 1600Mhz GPU Asus Geforce 8800GTX Case Antech P182 Storage 2x WD Raptor 10k (total 500 GB in Raid 0) Intel 320 SSD 160 GB WD Black 1TB PSU Corsair HX850 Display(s) 2x Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW Cooling Thermalight Venomous X Keyboard Ducky Cherry MX Blue Funk KB-460 Mouse Mad Catz R.A.T 7 Sound Built in Operating System Windows 10 Budget: About 1400 US dollars. Location: Sweden Aim: The idea is to have a hybrid Gaming / Workstation with decent power, not to overclock but just to be stable. Monitors at my disposal: 1 x Dell Monitor 3x Apple Cinema Display's My Peripherals: * Keyboard - Ducky Cherry MX Blue / Funk KB460 * Mouse - Mad Catz R.A.T 7 * Headphones - Logitech G430 The idea: I have been looking around a bit and threw togheter this kit i liked and would like feedback on how it looks, even if you find it all to be crap any feedback is welcome. Im still a bit GPU unsure so i left it out. I was have the PSU in my current build, so will transplant that same for the WD 1TB drive And if you dont like the case im sorry to say its the one thing ive already bought ;P * Here is the PcPartList link: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/7JvTBP
  12. Im crushing it with my Asus Geforce 8800GTX BECOUSE IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and becouse as an it student i have put a lot of my money into projects rather then a new build
