  1. Well after messing around with this thing. I am extremely frustrated. I think I figured out the problem. it's the damn case that's shorting everything out. If I pull the mobo and psu out of the case it runs hurray! however as soon as I put the components in the case it won't run. I have looked high and low and can not find for the life of me what is causing he short. Never again NZXT, never again!
  2. An apology to the mods as well. I realize that this belongs in the troubleshoot section. must have been a miss click.
  3. Okay. so I made sure everything was plugged in properly. everything seemed alright. I have tried the ram nothing. then I removed the GPU, the interesting thing here is now that I have removed the GPU. the Cpu heatsink fan now starts up then stops right away.
  4. Hello Hardware as followed. Case - nzxt s340 Mobo- asus 170A Cpu - Intel I5 6600k Hard drive - WD 2T black SSD - sandisk extreme pro 240 PSU - Corsair rm550x RAM - Corsair vengence 16 gigs. Gpu- sapphire nitro rx480. I've builted and wired the whole thing and I'm kinda getting power but not. all I'm able to get is a single green led light on the Mobo next to pwr-led. no fan nothing. any suggestions? Cheers Joel
  5. Hi. So just finishing off my computer build and I noticed the cable on 8 pin side Had 2 cables going into one pin. The 6+2 looked normal just the 8 pin side. Is this normal? I've never noticed this before. I Google Drive but couldn't find anything. This is the power cable for my graphics card.
  6. Fair enough. I took your advice and went with a 550. @Thread212
  7. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/JoelLM/saved/KN9WZL Yes I know that the PSU is overkill the 650 is the same price and the evga g2 650 is 119.99 and the 550 is 109.99. Having more power to upgrade later won't hurt and the PSU won't draw more power then it needs if I'm not mistaken.
  8. @Thread212 would you recommend the asus z170a over the Msi z170 gaming pro carbon. I noticed that's the board you have in your signature. Do you like it?
  9. Budget. 2 grand or under. As it stands I'm sitting at 1500 without the GPU and a 200$ mobo. At the time the power suply rm650x and rm750x were priced the same which is why I went for the larger PSU. I also want to do some Over clocking and a custom water loop in the future so I'm building the system with a bit of room to expand.
  10. Hello Just looking for maybe a few suggestions. Case - inwin 805 black Cpu - Intel I5 6600k Hard drive - WD 2T black SSD - samsung NVMe 950 pro 256 ( this may change to the new 960 at release depending on price if I haven't ordered yet) PSU - Corsair rm750x RAM - Corsair vengence 16 gigs. Gpu- I want a 1070 however budget will probably only allow for a 1060 or 480. And here is the problem. I'm stuck on the mobo. I hate the black and red colour scheme most mobo have now a days. Originally I was looking at the gigabit gaming 5 but can't do it due to colour. I'd like a mobo with the white and black theme in the same price point. I was looking at the asus pro gaming aura, the msi gaming pro carbon, and the asus 170a. Something that won't go over the 200$ can if posible. Suggestions. Recommendation. Cheers Joel
  11. My first build was back in early 2003. I was in grade 10, taking after school classes with skills Canada in 3D animation (3D studio max, poser, and Zbrush). Unfortunately, due to the lack of volunteers the hours I had access to the facility were very limited which prompted me to build my first computer. I don't remember the model numbers but I do remember it was a MSI motherboard, an AMD CPU, and A Radeon Sapphire GPU. It was a great computer that took all my allowance to build, the best investment I made. Sadly one day when I was over clocking the Cpu and GPU in order to play this new game F.E.A.R, I ended up frying one of the two components. R.I.P. Since then, due to my nomadic behavior I've been jumping from one midrange laptop to the next. I've just recently settled down with my family and it's finally time to build a new desktop computer. Wouldn't it be cool if it was another MSI motherboard, an AMD GPU (looking forward in seeing what Zen has to offer) and a Radeon GPU. Been watching Linus since the NCIX days, happy you moved on and doing your own thing! You have a great team backing you up, keep up the good work guys and gals!
