  1. I can understand Linus' reaction to a point. He still sees LMG as a scrappy startup he's poured his blood into to make something of it, and feels an attack on the company is an attack on him personally; something that isn't helped by how much he's very much the face of the company still. With that said, LMG is now valued at $100m and is not a scrappy startup anymore. Their opinions pull real weight with people, and they are looking to get into serious testing. You CANNOT become a serious testing house with the kind of mistakes being made, and changing company focus towards that at this point could be a disastrous move. GN's main criticism in the original video is not enough time is being spent; neither in the quality of review testing, nor in overall process management within the company to ensure a debacle like Billet Labs never happens. These are very fair criticisms. If, as Linus claims, LTT is all about the consumer, then be about us. Slow down, take your time and yeah, spend the extra $500 to do it right. If what LTT is actually about is its bottom line, that's a different direction; stay doing entertainment, which you guys are great at. I find all of this extremely disappointing. I really hope the organisation grows in the end and faces up to its failures, and Linus with it. That response to valid concerns was not good...
  2. If you say your mouse is too small, is it comfortable to use? While I agree with the others that the biggest noticeable upgrade is your screen, my first priority is comfort of use; I use PCs a lot, and I've had minor RSI issues in the past, and let me tell you it's no joke. So if your mouse is actually uncomfortable to use, upgrade that first, then the monitor, then keyboard. If it's just a "nice to have," then yeah go monitor first as others have suggested. You may find 3GB is not enough to drive 1440p without stutter, btw...
  3. The Coolermaster boards are good. At their price point you probably won't find another board with RGB and genuine Cherries.
  4. I have a 2008 see-through Diamondback that's still going strong. I love it, very comfortable to use (for me), and shows no signs of breaking so far. With that said, I hear their quality has gone down in recent years. I'd try and see how a few feel in a shop, and go off that. I definitely wouldn't put Razer at the top of the list, but personally I wouldn't fully discount them either.
  5. I really like TaeKeyboards. He probably won't review anything you'd be interested to buy, but I find his channel weirdly relaxing. He reviews a LOT of keyboards, just hardly ever the more mainstream ones.
  6. Both are reputable. The die-hard enthusiasts will always tell you to go CM because: They use standard keycaps so if you ever want to replace your set you can easily (the K70's bottom row is non-standard so you're stuck with what it comes with) and Apparently some CM boards are actually made by Filco, which is a company enthusiasts love. With that said I have a K70 and I love it. I don't intend on replacing my keycaps (which will cost as much as a new board...!), and personally don't care about the brand provided it's reliable. Corsair will give you the better light show (which I also don't care about personally), CM will give you a more upgradeable "vanilla-looking" board.
  7. Should also be noted though that if you're used to membrane keyboards, all mechanical keyboards will feel loud by comparison. Nothing beats membrane for quietness...
  8. Does anyone know any motherboards or vendors of them in the UK with B350 chipsets that would support a 2200G out of the box (i.e. not requiring the BIOS be updated first)? I am looking to do a Ryzen 3 build for my Dad, but don't have access to any Gen 1 chips I could use to update the BIOS and don't much feel like faffing about with having AMD send one that I'd have to return (which is apparently their temporary solution to the problem).
  9. Browns are good. I like mine. I might have gone Reds had I been able to try them back to back actually, but whichever you pick you'll be getting a great switch.
  10. I would pick Browns over Romer Gs. When you compare them side by side, the Gs feel mushy in comparison.
  11. Blues are very loud and not for everyone. I have a K70 with Browns, and I like it but the tactile bump people go on about feels less like a bump to me and more like a "scratchy area," almost like there is sand in the switches. I'm not 100% sure I wouldn't have preferred Reds. I use it to type and game; I think either would be fine for both though, I'm not convinced you need one for one application and one for the other. Short version: if you can get to a shop with them on display side-by-side so you can try them back to back, do it. I couldn't at the time as none around displayed them. They all do now though. *Sigh*
  12. I use my numpad, but never for games. I like full size boards myself. Cheaper, fuller features and I can't live without a numpad. If you don't use it though, get a TKL. Marginally better ergonomically.
  13. For the amount of time, money and effort you'd put into that, I'd just get a cheaper mech keyboard with backlighting if that's what you really want. Or even a membrane with backlighting if you don't care about that stuff.
  14. As above, see if you can find somewhere where you can try them. I have a K70 with Browns, and the tactile bump when you're typing basically feels like there's something scratchy in there; almost like there are little teeth or fine grains of sand in the keys. With Reds/Speeds you just feel the spring compression and nothing else. Honestly I had never tried Browns before buying (couldn't find anywhere I could try it out) and I found them a bit weird to begin with. I like them a lot now, and people say they're a bit better for typing if you're going to be using it for that as well. I'm unconvinced how true that is TBH, but for sure you can learn not to bottom out more easily as you can feel when they actuate. Though in my case I have membrane at work, so I mash all my keys like a crazy anyway.
